Two drills in one hand is worth the one hundred you pay

...As a keen DIYer I have a good selection of tools, including battery power tool. In fact, I am the owner of about half a dozen cordless power drills of all shapes and sizes. The one downfall with these drills is the changing of ?bits? whilst your in a trick positon, such as high up a ladder fitting an alarm box or the like. So when I saw this rather strange looking device on an advert one day I was intrigued as to how useful this could be. ...We purchased a Hitachi 28" Pure Flat Screen TV in the January 2003 sales. A bargain reduced from £600 to £389. Unfortunately by February 2004 we had a problem with it. A grey screen with wavey diagonal lines and it kept turning itself off after about 5 seconds. Anyway - stupid like we didnt take the extended guarantee - which i would advise everyone to do - if you can afford it obviously. The TV was taken away by a local engineer and basically needed some extensive welding and it cost us £170 and we were left without the TV for 3 weeks. Well we werent happy as you can imagine so we tried to contact Hitachi. We telephoned our local Miller Brothers store who supplied it and they only had a fax number for Hitachi - nothing else !!! So I searched the web and found a few addresses and forward the original reciept...

Compact and powerful

Advantages: Powerful for a cordless drill, Compact, Well priced

...This 14.4V drill from makita is a good buy. I have been using this tool for over 2 months now and i'm very happy with my purchase. The 6280 is very compact. I was able to screw in 1 inch long screws with the drill squeezed between 2 wood boards only 9 inches apart. The drill comes with a charger and 2 batteries, which is more than enough power to get you through most jobs. You can drill intensively for 2-3 hours with a fully charged battery and it takes a little more than 1 hour to recharge a dead one. I tried the 12 volts version of this drill so I can recommand that you buy the 14.4 volt; It has more power and the batteries last longer. Keyless chuck makes for fast changing of bits. ...Despite its name the Power Devil is a well built and well featured cordless hammer drill, the motor is made by the US maker Johnson which i am assured is a quality make, the battery is a large voltage 19.2V and is made by Panasonic, the keyless chuck made by Jacobs is a 13mm one which is quite rare to see on budget priced tool. The drill offers 16 torque settings, standard drill mode, hammer drill mode variable speed which 0-1000 rpm forward and reverse actions. The charge time is 1 hour which is a real bonus. The drill is comfortable in use despite its bulk for a cordless tool. It comes in a plastic case which also includes a small selection of drill/driver bits. All in all an exellent package at an excellent price £59.99...

Makita drill for the enthusiastic DIYer.

Advantages: Light, Small, Durable, Cheap and Very Reliable
Disadvantages: Lack of power for bigger jobs.

...I use this at work as my secondry drver mainly just to attach small joints and woodwork in general. Makita have always been a big name in the world of D.I.Y.ing tools and contimue to make tools that last and last and perform to fairly good standards. These drivers are used as lightweight alternatives to the more expensive combination drills and if all you require is a cheapish drill for home usage or general small construction then this is the drill for you. Unfortunately your not going to get any sort of real power out of the \'green\' makita range as its known as these are intentienly aimed at D.I.Y.ers, you do have enough to drill small planks and boards but you can forget about drilling anything harder as their simply is not enough torque or amp power to get you anywhere. ...OK, You are now going to read a review on a water pump, and not a bad one for the purpose it is designed, however it's use is limited. The idea is, you have a small pump, which you attach to your electric drill, then use it to pump whatever you need to. When not in use, the pump takes up little room, it does not rust, and it is there ready for use when the time comes. In these days of flooding, it is a handy thing to have around. The output is not fantastic at 1000 litres per minute, although this is a tonne of water. Your drill must be rated at 350 watts or more, and there is no filters to worry about, whatever goes in the inlet, is supposed to go through the system & out of the outlet. You will of course require electricity, but if your power supply has been interrupted, then you are likely to need more than one of these...
