Advantages: Good all round laser printer, loads of pros Disadvantages: very few, if any
...General & price:
WOW, what a brilliant printer this is. Another great laser from Brother. I have had this printer for quite a few months now. I bought it for around £150 but the prices come anywhere between £140 and £220 from verious online retailers or some high street stores.
There is so much i could say about this printer but it would take me ages to write it all and i'm not sure if i can handle it all. But i will right all the important parts.
Design:
The design of the HL5250dn is brilliant. In my opinion the best looking printer Brother have ever done. Most of Brother's lasers as well as many others on the market are just a neutral cream colour but this is black and grey which may not sound very appealing but when you see it, it looks great. It is a good size, simple printer that will fit into any office, school or home. It...

Review of Brother HL 5240
Advantages: TOTALLY RELIABLE, VERY ECONOMICAL, UNOBTRUSIVE Disadvantages: NONE
...My daughter bought this printer for her office (she does accountancy & bookkeeping) about SIX years ago. She upgraded to a more powerful model after two years (Brother of course) and we now have the original as the main printer for the main home computer - it is black and white, but we don't have any call for colour.
Having, in the past had FOUR so-called excellent printers, by HP, Lexmark, et al , which required ink cartridges, I can only say that the Brother HL-1230 leaves them all standing at the starting gate. It is only on its second toner cartridge and we do a fair amount of printing. There is also the fact that with a laser printer there are no ink cartridges to dry out.
The initial monetary outlay may be a little more but is more than compensated for by not having to buy ink cartridges, which do not last anywhere...

Review of Brother HL 1230
Advantages: Value for money Disadvantages: Bulky compared to newer laser printers
...I have had this printer for over 2 years now and have had no problems with it since the day of purchase. I use my printer to mainly print out word documents, emails and work for university.
--Looks/Size--
Compared to newer laser printers the Brother HL 1430 looks boring and is also quite bulky. However what it lacks in looks it certainly makes up for in quality and reliability.
Dimensions: 36x23.5cm
Weight: 9.2Kg
--Laser Vs Inkjet--
I had two inkjet printers before purchasing my first laser printer. For the sort of documents I print I find a laser printer much faster, more reliable and also of a higher quality. Over the last 2 years this printer has proven to be cheaper than my other injet printers as the ink cartridges dried out and were expensive to replace. Since I have had this printer I have still not replaced the toner it...

Review of Brother HL 1430
Advantages: Quick, good quality printouts Disadvantages: Doesn't seem to last very long
...The Brother HL-1050 is a fairly good laser printer. I've had mine for just over two years and in that time I've had no problems with it until recently.
It can be connected via either parallel port or USB, comes with 4MB of memory and has a claimed print speed of 10ppm with a maximum resolution of 1200x600dpi. It is fast and handles text superbly and graphics adaquately. Toner cartridges are twenty five quid a throw and last a couple of thousand pages (I think) depending on print density and stuff like that. The printer driver offers a useful little window that opens and tells you the status of the printer (if it's asleep, if the toner is low, if the paper is jammed, etc).
It is a quick printer, but it's not that small with a footprint of roughly 14.5" x 14.5" and a height of approximately 11". It's not quiet either. The paper...

Review of Brother HL 1050
Advantages: Print speed, quality, upgradability, price, reliability, quite small, easy to print on envelopes/small paper, Works under Windows XP Disadvantages: Square design, 4MB memory not enough for some image printing, supplied drivers not excellent
...ones print with the right colours but do not have all features of the Brother drivers.
5. The famous flickering light problem. Every product that is released today seems to have one problem that everyone dotes on. This is the HL1250 one; when the printer is turned on, it makes the lights dim for a second approximately every half-a-minute. This is a true problem, but it only happens when the printer is actually on (it goes into standby after a couple of minutes), and I barely notice it now.
I would in no way count this against the printer.
OTHER COMMENTS
The upgradability of this machine is good - an extra 250 page paper tray can be added, bringing total paper capacity up to 500 sheets. An ethernet card can also be added for network connectivity.
I had to choose between this and an HP LaserJet 1200. I chose this because...

Review of Brother HL 1250
Advantages: Fast and Reliable. Reprint and Dual side functions Disadvantages: Large Footprint, and noisy
...My old Epson finally gave up the ghost around 10 months ago, which lead me to look for a new Printer to hopefully last me the next 5 years.
I eventually chose the Brother HL6050. Although this machine is probably the largest of the ones I looked at, it is by far the best. 42cm deep, and 31 cm tall.
The Brother Hl 6050 is a mono laser printer, and cost me £299 from dabs.com.
Incredibly quick printing, for the price (24ppm - pages per minute), and a paper tray which holds a full ream (500 sheets).
You can use traditional cables, or USB or Infra red. I use USB, as this is very quick and reliable, unlike the infrared.
One very useful function is the reprint function. If you have just printed out a document, and need another, simply press the reprint button, tell it how many copies you require, and press go, and they are...

Review of Brother HL 6050DN
...The Brother HL-4070CDW color laser printer is not cheap, but it does have a lot of extras and upgrades that warrants the price. Unlike previous models, this newer version will allow wireless connection, duplex print and postscript emulation. The input tray of this printer will hold 250 sheets of regular typing paper, while the multipurpose tray can hold up to 50.
With the LCD display screen, you will be able to know what job your printer is in the middle of, and if there is an error, the lighted display will alert you. When the Brother HL-4070CDW color laser printer is on or in printing mode, a green light will appear. During the process of making a change, the screen will flash orange, and a red screen will let you know that something is wrong and an error has occurred because of it. A red light can also mean that the covers are not...
