Gorgeous Gung Ho

Advantages: An incredibly distinctive female vocalist
Disadvantages: Some feel this album is a little over-produced

...Patti smith is a writer, poet, painter, performance artist and singer, and 'gung ho, released in 2000, is her third album since she returned from a temporary retirement. She is best remembered for her first album, 'Horses', which was released in 1975 and gave her a prominent position as a founder of punk, and has influenced many other performers. (Including my favourite band R.E.M.) Although her first album was released under the name of the Patti Smith Group, 'gung ho' is released under Patti's name only, but reunites many of the performers who helped make 'Horses' such a seminal work. Advantages: Original story, good chemistry between the actors

...Bubba Ho-Tep is a comedy horror movie directed by Don Coscarelli (who also directed all four "Phantasm" films) and stars the legend that is Bruce Campbell! Campbell plays Elvis, the actual, real Elvis. It seems he switched places with a look-alike (also played by Campbell) because he got bored of all the glitz and glamour and wanted to get back to his roots. Unfortunately the contract he drew up was destroyed and he had an accident that threw out his hip so he never got a chance to switch back, and now spends his day in an old folk's home. He teams up with Jack (Ossie Davis), a fellow resident who believes that he is John F. Kennedy and that his skin was dyed black. Together they investigate the recent spate of deaths in their home, and find out it may be to do with an ancient Egyptian mummy, as you do. As no-one else believes them...

Advantages: Unique concept, great acting.
Disadvantages: One joke can't sustain a film.

...In Bubba Ho-Tep, an elderly Elvis Presley and a black John F Kennedy battle an ancient mummy. As concepts go, you can't get any more unique than that. The concept here though is so strong that the film can't possibly live up to it. Once we gets past that initial idea, the film in itself falls rather flat. It's a film that is almost entirely dependent on the above making up the entire content of the film, but it simply can't hold up. While seeing Presley and his zimmer frame trundle around a nursing home chasing a mummy is funny at first, it's not enough to sustain the already brief 80 minute runtime. Hilarious, Charming, Stunning. Bubba Ho-Tep Rocks

Advantages: Brilliant acting. Genius Concept. Both funny and touching.
Disadvantages: May not be what some people are expecting.

...Big movie studios just don't know a good thing when they see one do they? All they are willing to release is trash that makes a quick buck, but has no soul and its getting to the point where even mainstream audiences are seeing right through their risk free schemes and starting to look elsewhere. As was the case with DONNIE DARKO, a low budget directorial debut that had an unfathomable plot, but word of mouth spread on how great it was regardless and it went from an unknown independent gamble to a massive cult hit within a few years and raked in enough cash for Richard Kelly to even release a director's cut of the film. Ho Ho Ho - Snappy Christmas!

Advantages: A fun book full of pop ups
Disadvantages: Noisy

...and the reindeers are flying through the cold winter skies with sleigh bells that ring all the way. On the fifth and sixth page is Santa who is about to go down the chimmney with a stocking, he is of course saying `Ho ho ho`. This is quite a funny scene as one of the reindeers has got covered by snow and does not look too happy! On the seventh and eighth page is a christmas tree pop up with a cute mouse who is dressed as a fairy at the top of the tree. As you turn the page you get to hear christmas bells, also in the background are the snappy friends who look very excited and are holding christmas presents. I love the last two pages as the snappy friends are all together singing carols, for the last tune you get "we wish you a merry christmas". Jai Ho! Slumdog Millionaire

Advantages: Great acting and story
Disadvantages: None

...Mahesh Khedekar (Jamal) and Rubina Ali (Latika). These children were picked from the real slums in Mumbai to star in the film. I think they all did a brilliant job and were much better than a lot of professional child actors that I have seen in films. They deserved the fame and recognition they got. I hope that it is true that the producers of the film are helping to provide for them throughout their young lives. There is some good music in the film including the theme song Jai Ho that you have probably heard after the pussycat dolls brought out a version. Overall I thought Slumdog Millionaire was a fantastic film. It has a great story that will keep you interested throughout. The acting is well done by all the actors, making it a worthwhile film to watch. Also posted on Dooyoo....

Advantages: Tremendous Rip Roaring Horror
Disadvantages: Overpriced

...speaks for itself. There are a series of Photo's and Biographies also contained on the disc. The DVD comes in region 0 format and will play on any DVD player worldwide. There are no additional languages or subtitles. Sleepless is available from Play.com for £14.99 but I'm sure you can obtain this from other places at a reduced price. Non Ho Sonno translates to I Can't Sleep which is the title the movie is known as in most other countries....
