...It's not often I feel compelled to write a restaurant review. I like to enjoy the meal without thinking about what I'm going to write while I'm eating and drinking. It has to be either a very good experience or an extremely bad one to make me even think about reviewing it afterwards. I once wrote about a very good meal I had from a competition win at Moshi Moshi at the Liverpool Street branch in London. and now I'm about to tell you about a shockingly awful one I had a couple of weeks ago at Torts in Holborn. I work in Holborn and as anyone who spends a lot of time there will tell you, it's not exactly the centre of restaurant heaven. The Great Grange

Advantages: Great Location, Huge Executive Rooms

...I stayed at the Grange Holborne for 2 nights in April 2005. The trip was a special birthday treat for my mother and it was important to me that the hotel was particularly special. When I was looking for a hotel for our stay I saw that this came highly recommended by a number of websites and so booked an executive twin at a cost of £135.00 per night. On checking in we quickly noticed that, although the reception area was quite small, the staff all seemed to be incredibly efficient and helpful. We arrived quite early and although our room wasn't ready they quickly arranged for us to leave our luggage so that we could get on with enjoying our trip to the big city. Great Atmosphere for a Date Shame about the rest

Advantages: Nice Atmosphere, Desserts were not bad at all

...I love my Pizza Hut!!! Without a doubt I love their Pizzas, I love their salad (its about the only place I will eat salad in any form) and there prices are great. Unfortunately tonight I was out with some friends in Holborn and there wasn't a Pizza Hut in sight. (Well there probably was but we were starving!!) Anyway we spotted a Pizza Express just five minutes from the underground station and considering I hadn't been to a Pizza Express before we decided to try it out. Restaurant Layout / Atmosphere The restaurant layout was very appealing with stylish decor, attractive table arrangements and decent music unlike some restaurants I have been to recently. ...I love browsing through markets and this one is a particular favourite of mine. Each day you will find this wonderful market sprawled out along the entire length of London's Leather Lane, Holborn. The nearest Tube station is Chancery Lane on the Central Line, that's the red one on the underground map. I always combine my visits to theis market with a trip to the International Magic Studio which is just around the corner. The market has all the atmosphere of a typical bustling London Market and is like stepping back in time. Traders are all competing for your money so prices are cheap and there are numerous bargains to be had. There are quite a few clothing stalls so you can get kitted out with a new set of togs cheaply. Lets Go Dutch

...Pancakes should be simple to make since they are only flour, egg and milk right? Well I do like pancakes and not just on Shrove Tuesday but very rarely make them myself. When I fancy a fix I will go to a pancake house or creperie. I have fond memories of the Pancake Place in Scotland and the now sadly gone Dutch Pancake House in Manchester. Now I am in London I do not have to go without my pancake fix as I have discovered My Old Dutch Pancake House. My Old Dutch Pancake House is a mini chain of Pancake Houses with branches in Holborn Central London, Ealing and Chelsea with a new one in Kensington recently opened. I've only visited the Holborn one but if the others are as good I would happily visit them if I was in the area.
