The Holiday - a good chick flick

Advantages: Lighthearted, good cast
Disadvantages: Predictable

...The Holiday is a chick flick type film although it is not quite your normal chick flick. It is based around the story of two girls , Amanda, played by Cameron Diaz and Iris played by Kate Winslet. Amanda is a film trailer producer who has just broke up with her boyfriend, she lives in LA. Iris lives in Surrey in a little cottage and is a writer for a paper. She is still in love with her ex boyfriend who she works with and has just found out he is getting engaged. Amanda starts searching on the Internet for some sort of holiday to get away and try and forget what has happened. She stumbles across Iris's cottage on a website and contacts her about coming over to stay. Iris jumps at the chance after all the pain she has been put through. ...The Holiday- I tried to get to see his at the cinema but i unfortunately missed out. Although after reading the reviews it was a mixed opinion, so as soon as it came out i purchased it so that i could judge for myself and its a great film. With Kate Winslet, Jack Black, Jude Law and Cameron Diaz it was an all star cast and a hopeless romantic film a definate chich flick. Its about Iris(Kate Winslet) who is in love with a man who is about to marry another woman and then thee is Amanda (cameron Diaz) who realizes the man she lives with has been unfaithful. While trawling through the internet Amanda finds Iris' house being advertised on a house swap website and they both agree to swap houses over the Christmas period. TomTom Western Europe, let Jane take the strain.

Advantages: Stress free travelling, comprehensive, clear instructions, cheap
Disadvantages: Some very minor glitches in confusing bends with turns

...I recently reviewed the TomTom one, which we bought with the Western Europe maps, and I have been waiting to put Jane (our name, after the voice) through her paces in rural France. As with all TomTom maps, easy to see, easy to use, easy to understand, and easy to update. Absolutely fantastic, I have no idea how we ever coped without her/it. From getting off the ferry, the map/navigation was spot on, good clear instructions, in plenty of time, and the first time I have ever got through Paris without a hitch. To give you an idea of how good, we bought a local map of where we were going on the Limousin/Perigord borders, that did not have the town we were staying in (I call it a town loosely) as it was so small, no problem for TomTom, straight there, which was welcome after 7 hours of driving. We spent two weeks in the area...

Advantages: Large Screen, easy to follow, clear display

...The Tom Tom ONE XL Europe is one of the easiest car navigation devices to use. It is mostly self explainatry but if you are unsure how to use it, the manual is very specific and very easy to understand. In my opinion the actual software that is installed on it is excellent. When driving, it is easy to follow all of the instruction that are being said by the automated voice. The one concern with this product is the very short battery life and sometimes, when it has been previously been connected to the computer to install updates, the system gets stuck and freezes. It has to be reset for it to function properly again and then it takes up to ten minutes!! There are many options that you can choose when planning your route so you drive the route that is most suitable for you. Other than the one disadvantage, it is a very good car navigation...

...I recently purchased the new TomTom Europe 22 from Halfords. I was originally going to buy the V3 of the TomTom Europe as the price is genuinley lower than the new one is. I'll get to that now. I actually, did, buy the V3 model first. When I did and went to set it up in the car I noticed the windscreen suction piece wasn't in the box and to top that, the actual sat nav seemed 2nd hand. Scratches - deep scratches - all over the sat nav. So I boxed it all back up and went back into Halfords. Served by the same person - baring in mind, it's the assistant manager. I told her the situation and that I wasn't pleased. She said, "I must of forgotten to tell you the sat nav I sold you was originally a display model". Which I don't believe as I doubt a display model would have scratches all over it as it's stuck behind glass. She explained to me...

...I had read a couple of reviews about 'The Holiday' which were slightly less than enthusiastic, so when I watched it on DVD the other night, I wasn't really expecting a great deal. I have to say though, that I was pleasantly surprised as I found it a very enjoyable, although none too taxing film. The Holidy stars a couple of my favourite actresses - Kate Winslett and Cameron Diaz. They play women who live on opposite sides of the world - Surrey and LA - and are both quite discontented with their lives. Solway Holiday Park

Advantages: the farm and hot tub

...I have just come back from a week in the Lakes and have decided to try and have a go at reviewing the place we stayed. Solway Holiday Park is situated in Silloth Cumbria (about 22 miles west of Carlisle) which is small village with a population of around 3000. If you want a town with lots going on then Silloth is not for you, it has a lovely large green and a great sea view although it is not a beach. It also has cafes and the odd take away along with some little shops and of course a Spar (everywhere seems to have a Spar). Near the green is amusements which also sells refreshments. The park itself was quite easy to find I got the directions from greenflag. As we drove in through the entrance the reception was quite well sign posted, when we booked we were told booking in time was 4pm (which I thought was a bit late but...
