I wouldn't want a "Holiday Inn" this hotel

Advantages: Good location
Disadvantages: dull, dull, dull - and not cheap either

...This hotel has been listed on Ciao for more than two years without anyone writing about it and I'm not actually all that surprised. Writing a review of a really good hotel is easy and writing one about an awful hotel is fun. But how about hotels that are just a bit blurgh - not great, not awful? Is it actually possible to write an interesting review of an uninteresting hotel? I'm still not sure about that. If you find it a bit dull, please go and read one of my other hotel reviews - they'll probably be more interesting but Ciao needs the good and the bad as well as the mediocre. Sitting in my room at the Holiday Inn in Paris St Germain de Pres I couldn't help but reflect that the designers drew heavily from that area of the colour palette best characterised by the term 'nicotine'. No mum it's not a petrol station, it's the Holiday Inn Oxford.

Advantages: Great Price. Good location for roads. Next to park and ride, cheaper than paying for parking!
Disadvantages: Another Holiday Inn, nothing that unique about it. Surly reception staff.

We have had a rather turbulent year so my brother and I felt it was necessary to take my mother and father away for a birthday celebration as a family. After a good trawl of the internet we decided to visit Oxford. As my brother has two young children it was necessary to consider a family room, ideally with some facilities to keep the children entertained, so we found ourselves at Holiday Inn Oxford. ...This was my first ever experience of a Holiday Inn Express Hotel, but having stayed at this hotel recently I am sure I will be using this chain again. I found the Holiday Inn Express Cheltenham to be excellent value for money,very clean, well situated and with all the elements for a peaceful and agreable overnight stay. Location: The hotel is situated right in the centre of Cheltenham, a town which is on the edge of the Cotswolds and an agreable destination in its own right. Holidaying at the Holiday Inn

...We stayed at the Holiday Inn in Cardiff City Centre recently. The reason for our visit was because I was auditioning for the X Factor (again! - I didn't get through :( ) . We chose Holiday Inn because we had stayed at the hotel on many occasions before and were pleased with it and it's value for money. The hotel is located right by the Millenium Stadium. This was convenient for us because the auditioning for the X Factor took place in the Stadium. The hotel is a short 5 minute walk from the high street which was good! Advantages: Very near the airport.
Disadvantages: none

...I stayed at the holiday Inn Gatwick with my family before and after flying out to the caribbean. It was clean and friendly and even the kids enjoyed it. The rooms were quite spacious with tea and coffe facilities. I even called reception as there was only one hot chocolate between the 2 children, and they were at our room within minutes with more sachets and packets of biscuits. We ate an evening meal there too and it wasn't too badly priced! We got up early the next morning and had a swim before catching our longhaul flight, which used up a bit of energy so the kids weren't too restless on the plane. All in all we loved it and would definitely stay again....

...5* boutique hotels have their place in my list of favourite stop overs for a pleasant break. Hotels like the Holiday Inn at Fareham do not exactly fit that description. But I am not among that elitist crowd who turn up their noses at any hotel that happens to be part of a national or international chain of hotels.
