...I have used several budget hotel chains such as Travel Inn, Travel Lodge, Wether Lodge (JD Wetherspoons, Holiday Inn Express and prefer the Travel Inn chain, most of their hotels are situated near to a pub so you are able to get a drink and food easily. These chains all offer the same standard rooms at roughly the same price around £40. Tip: Holiday Inn Express normally offer a buffet breakfast Toast Rolls, ceral Etc. In addition most chains offer regular discounts Travelodge have a web site where rooms start at £20.00 - I would recommend a visit to the site prior to booking. The Travel Inn chain have a web site but I have never seen any discounts however, discounts are available using a discount card you can apply for in Whitbred pubs - It is basically for familys (But you can say you have a couple of kids) and you will receive a 20... Advantages: Safe, central, clean

...The Jury's Inn Manchester is a good functional city centre hotel. Rooms are spotlessly clean, and have coffee facilies. Some sadly only have a shower and no bath. Although associated with Jurys Hotels, this is the junior brand, rather like the Express Holiday Inns. Breakfast is English, served in a school canteen type affair where you can eat enough to keep you going through to dinner. For dinner you have a choice of a very pleasant retaurant overlooking the canal, or a more work a day bar with snacks. The hotel does not have a dedicated car park so you have to use the multi story across the road. Although the hotel do give you a discout, this is still a pain when you want to get luggage etc. I would recomment Jurys Inn to anyone looking for a clean and comfortable base in central Manchester.... ...I stayed at the holiday Inn Gatwick with my family before and after flying out to the caribbean. It was clean and friendly and even the kids enjoyed it. The rooms were quite spacious with tea and coffe facilities. I even called reception as there was only one hot chocolate between the 2 children, and they were at our room within minutes with more sachets and packets of biscuits. We ate an evening meal there too and it wasn't too badly priced! We got up early the next morning and had a swim before catching our longhaul flight, which used up a bit of energy so the kids weren't too restless on the plane. All in all we loved it and would definitely stay again.... Read review

...Holiday Inn express hotels offer great value for money for a comfy stopover when travelling in the UK. Priced at around £40.00 per room per night I can't fault them, I only wish there was more of them but they are beginning to spring up in more and more places. Rooms very comfortably accommodate 2 adults and a child,they are clean,bright,spacious enough and have the usual TV,ensuite tub room,tea and coffe making facilities etc. What sets Holiday Inn above it's rivals is the complimentary continental breakfast of unlimited toast ,rolls and preserves,fruit,yoghurt and tea and coffee.At Travel-lodges you are forced to usually cross a busy car park or service station to be rewarded with a very unexciting and rip off Little Chef for your wake-up cuppa. ...I used hoteldirect.co.uk for the first time this Christmas when I booked a room in an Express by Holiday Inn hotel in Greenwich, London. After some shopping around, I found hoteldirect.co.uk to have the cheapest price for a hotel in that area of London. The price was £35 pppn compared to the Holiday Inn price of £55. Booking the room via hoteldirect.co.uk was very easy. Although the site does not very professional, navigating to find my choice was easy. With a few clicks the hotel room was booked and paid for. Another plus point was that hoteldirect.co.uk accepted my Maestro debit card whereas Holiday Inn themselves would not. ...I have stayed in Holiday Inn Express hotels on several occasions. The best place to book is via their website (www.hiexpress.co.uk), as this guarantees the lowest prices. Prices vary, but outside of London rooms cost less than £50 for a couple. Prices in London are slightly higher. Prices vary depending on location and time of year. The hotels are relatively basic looking. You are not paying for elaborate reception areas, swimming pools or a gym. Instead what you get is a good sized room with en suite bathroom. You get tea and coffee making facilities, together with a TV. The TV has a few Sky channels, but these are mostly news channels. There is also a range of pay per view movies available, although half of these seem to be pornographic in nature. The rooms are large enough, very clean and I have found the beds to be very firm... ...Some writers have commended the Holiday Inn for its excellent service at very reasonable prices. A look behind the scenes of the brand policy, products and pricing shows however a very different picture. Holiday Inn is in fact often more expensive than the competition and provides a low degree of service for the price. The problem with the perception of HI is that most people only know their lowprice HI Express chain and have little to say about HI's other brands and products. All five opinions posted on HI before mine only discuss the merits of HI Express, but that's just one of four HI brands. That's also Ciao's mistake, they should have created a category for each brand/chain separately. ...Recently I stayed at the Holiday Inn in Cardiff. This was my third stay. What an ideal place to stay. Situated next door to the Millenium Stadium ; bedroom window overlooking the stadium. 10 Minute walk from the railway station. On arrival we were checked in efficiently and professionally. Our room was cleaned to a high standard and we felt very welcome. The following day we had to leave early as we had an appointment and therefore I enquired in the restaurant about what time breakfast was. I was told breakfast began at 7:30 because it was Sunday. I asked if we could have breakfast earlier. In reply I was asked what time we would like to have breakfast. I couldn't believe it , having stayed in places where people were less helpful!
