Pets at home (the shop)

Advantages: Cheaper than other places for pet supplies
Disadvantages: Seems to be run by people who know nothing about the pets they are selling

...This review is based soley on my own experience. Back in august 2006 after much nagging from my 7 year old son i agreed he could have a pet rabbit. We went along to out local pets at home (Brentford) to choose a rabbit. It was the first time i had visited the store, it was clean and tidy and the pets looked well looked after. The male and female rabbits were ,in seperate enclosures which were clearly marked male and female. In the male side there were 2 lop eared rabbits, my son had chosen the one he wanted but as they were both cuddled up together i couldnt bear to seperate them so ended up buying them both.   Bargains For Your Home

Advantages: Can save you money on your normal shop
Disadvantages: You pick things up you wouldn't normally. Items change regularly.

...I've done a number of reviews on items that I've picked up cheaply from Home Bargains, so I thought why not do a review on the shop itself? Home Bargains is owned by a company called TJ Morris Ltd and the stores are currently popping up all over the country. I am lucky to have 2 different stores nearby which stock some of the same stuff and some different, so it does go to show that some different products are available at different stores. What things do they sell? You can pick up loads of different things off of your main shopping list in Home Bargains. It is not like a pound shop, which are normally just full of tat and the odd bargain. Home Bargains sell products that you would find in your local supermarket, just at a much lower price. ...I generally make a trip to pets at home (Ayr branch) every second month to stock up on a few pet essentials and for a general browse. Pets at home stock a wide variety of products for most pets, and most products look of a reasonable to good quality. Products are priced competively, and in some cases are cheaper than buying online, if you consider that you would also have to pay delivery charges. The shop layout is good, and everything is easy to find. Some items are placed fairly high and as a person of small height, I sometimes have to ask for assitance in reaching items, although this generally isn't a problem-the staff have usually been very helpful. However, on the occasions I have been in pets at home, I have come away feeling less than happy at the condition the 'livestock' are kept in. In fairness, some of these points...

Bags big enough to take your shopping home in

Disadvantages: Very expensive and does not hide bags

...About a year ago yet another cheap shop seemed to spring up from out of nowhere in my home town of Kettering. As ususal I thought they would probably selling a load of old rubbish and would probably close down within a few months but I was wrong. It wasn't really on my list of places to visit until my friends started telling me the stuff she had picked up in there and I will admit it sounded fantastic! I usually visit the Kettering store which is located in the shopping centre but I have visited other stores located on the high street and even on retail parks. Yes I have even visited different stores on the same day! The stores I have visited are all layed out basically the same but obviously vary in size. They all look clean and while busy usually look surprisingly uncrowded. I believe this is due to the very wide aisles...
