...So , I'm mad at life in general and need to vent . I have chosen a topic well removed from the real source of my present dire state of mind in order to put the argument fairly and in a considered and slightly detached manner . I think this only fair to anyone who chooses to read . My home town of Lincoln was always a quiet place ?? City in name only , as its streets were relatively safe and peaceful , rather behind the times . We were a little removed from the rest of the country , being a conservative Cathedral city in a backwater county of mostly rural landscapes and outlying remote villages . The uphill area is stunning , narrow cobbled streets and little boutique style shops ( with prices to match , a bit of a tourist trap ! ) . Well i am currently 23 years old and for 20 years of my life i have lived in a small county village just 10 miles from our nearest City. My Home Town - Rugby!

Advantages: I live here!
Disadvantages: Not an awful lot to do.

...about anything, my friend found a purse in a bush and tried to hand it in but they wouldn't accept it! The history of Rugby is pretty extensive with quite a few people coming to Rugby School, the famous boarding school of Rugby. Former home of Rupert Brooke and many others. Also the setting for the book 'Tom Brown's School Days' I believe. The most famous thing about the school and town in general has to be the game of Rugby. Given away by the name of the town, the sport was invented in the school by a young man named William Webb Ellis who now has a large statue out of the front of the school. He started it by joining in a game of football with his fellow school mates, not knowing how to play he just picked up the ball and ran! Well that's about all that is ever told about the story, I'm sure there were months where kids worked out rules...

We needed to be within a commute of the city centre for my husband's job, although I had negotiated to work at home with my then employer, as I was road based, using Matlock Bath as a base, so we were able to look far and wide. In the event we looked as far north as Matlock Bath, as well as West Bridgford nr the City Centre, and as far apart as Grantham, Newark on Trent and even Melton Mowbray. We soon decided that one of the Eastern villages on the Nottingham - Grantham route would be most ideal for us. Advantages: Sunny. Great golf in the area. Nice spot for a holiday.

...is Winterfield, which is a public links located at the far end of the town. While not up to the same standard as the east links, it is still a fine wee course, and a good test. Within East Lothian itself you have a plethora of fine old links golf courses, all within easy striking distance of Dunbar. (Half an hour or so) You have North Berwick, Gullane 1,2, and 3, Muirfield, Luffness, Kilspindie, and Longniddry. (Just to name a few) In my opinion there's no finer golf to be found in any other county in the whole of the UK. You'd think that it would be pretty cool to see ghosts and be able to talk to them when no one else could see or talk to them.
