Homebase
Advantages: Good choice
Disadvantages: Slightly dearer
...Where do I absolutely love going any day of the week? Homebase. I always shop till I drop; I am a home improvement addict.
Homebase is sometimes a little pricier than other well-known Home DIY stores, But they seem to have everything there you need, a one stop shop shall I say.
I have wasted more money on petrol, going from shop to shop looking for a bargain in the past that I have now resigned my self to Homebase.
The shop doesn?t remind you of a DIY store, the layout has a more personal touch. It is always fresh, clean and airy in there. It is not just DIY things it sells the finishing touches.
If you are a shopaholic in Homebase it is worth getting one of their cards, then every pound you spend you will get rewarded. Just go to the till to pay your bill they will swipe your card through a machine. That is the way to...

A Case For Homebase Improvement
Advantages: Extensive range of products
Disadvantages: Better value will be found elsewhere
...I have to say I have given up with Homebase. I have one of their loyalty cards and my latest statement indicates I have not been at all for about 6 months. When you consider the amount of DIY and gardening I do this does seem to suggest Homebase is not meeting my needs.
Homebase was established by Sainsburys many years ago and seemed at first to share the philosophy of the parent company. This meant the quality was good, the service could be expected to be customer friendly and the prices would be competitive. Of course Siansburys did not set up Homebase to be a charity and their objective was to have a viable profitable business. Unfortunately for Sainsburys Homebase never achieved a satisfactory level of return and like Boots with Do It All they have now chosen to exit the DIY market.
I used to shop at 2 local Homebase stores...

Homebase Stores
Advantages: Great variety, friendly staff, weekly offers and clearance bays!
Disadvantages: Some items can be dearer but they price match & refund you 10% of the difference!!!
...I have worked in Homebase in the past and despite being happy to leave employment there, it is actually a really good shop. I used to spy lots of nice things that I wanted. In my opinion it has a lot more variety of items than the likes of B&Q...stocking diy tools and electricals, many varieties of paint (Dulux, Laura Ashley, Crown, Homebase Home of Colour etc), wallpaper (by many top designers like Linda Barker, Bowen etc not just Homebase own brand), Homeworld accessories such as duvet sets, curtains, poles, kitchen utensils, storage units, flooring, lighting, household cleaning products (and specialist cleaning products often hard to find). They also have lighting and showroom areas. Home delivery is also on £5.95 no matter how many items you buy (unlike stores that charge up to £40!). Clearance bays are also full of bargains and are...

There's no place like Homebase
Advantages: Almost everything you should need for home/garden improvements
Disadvantages: I keep finding stuff I didn't know I needed
...Seeing as I seem to have recently spent more time gazing around the shelves at Homebase than I have at home putting all the stuff I bought there to good use, I thought I should share my new obsession with you.
Firstly I am in the process of sorting out the garden.
When we moved in it was a jungle of brambles and bine weed. 7 years later it is almost bramble free, but the only way to get rid of bine weed is to move, and that's not an option. So slowly I am doing a section at a time.. this year it is the bit by the fence that was once a flower bed (I presume) but was taken over by grass, brambles and saplings. I want a shrubbery. So I went to Homebase, bought some shrubs, and some of that cheap border roll... £4.99 each... very handy.... and 3 big bags of bark chips for £10.
Several more trips for more shrubs, and perenials (3...

Homebase
Advantages: Lots of choice for DIY enthusiasts
Disadvantages: Some things are expensive
...After just moving house I have found that Homebase is really good for all the DIY stuff you need.I love DIY and would spend a day in Homebase if I had the money.
The homebase near us is big with lots of choice and (some) helpful staff.
It sells things from paint to garden furniture and some things are quite reasonable in price compared to other DIY stores.
I also have a Homebase card which enables me to earn points every time I spend and vouchers are posted to me(or you can save the points for air miles)I prefer to spend them!!
some things in the store are quie expensive but other than that I really like shopping at Homebase...

Homebase horror
Advantages: They are round the corner
Disadvantages: The goods broke on assembly
...and this was when things went from bad to worse; on tightening one of the bolts I heard a crack and realised the leg I was fitting had craked down its full length.
I rang Homebase and was told a replacement leg would be with me in four days. Five days later I rang to see where it was and was told it would be another 4 weeks. Today another two weeks later I have been rung by a woman with no initiative to be told that they are going to supply a replacement table. Good?.......... No bad! It turns out I am not going to get to keep the new table while they take the old one away. No I have to break in to the packaging remove a leg, replace it with the damaged leg and then give the whole lot back to the driver who will take it away with him. Why???? Because they can't deliver a single leg for another six weeks.
The best bit is that each time they...

R.I.P Homebase
Advantages: Great selection of products
Disadvantages: Sometimes on the pricey side...
...It's so sad and disapointing that in the not so far future, Homebase will be no more after it was sold last December. I wonder if Mr Sainsbury realises what a great mistake he is making.
Ever since i have bought my house about 3 months ago i have been quite a regular there, buying wallpaper like it's going out of fashion, garden sheds, paints, lighting- you name it and i have probably bought it! I think the store is well presented and has a very wide range of products there. Everthing you could possibly want in a D.I.Y. store is under one roof. The aisles are marked clearly, so you don't have to spend 30 mins wondering aroung trying to find a particular product, there is loads of product information on the shelves and very handy guides on how to do something you don't know how to do (e.g tiling, laying laminate flooring etc...

I shall huff and puff and blow Homebase down
Advantages: Price, can usually get what you want
Disadvantages: The refund/return policy, inflexability, not letting customers know of changes implemented
...Okay, no more Miss Nice Guy, time for a bit of a moan I am afraid! But I hasten to add, if anybody reading this works for this company, please don’t get offended at me, as it isn’t meant against any of the employees.
As you can probably tell from the title, my “victim” for today is Homebase. Now let me make one thing very clear from the start, I have up until now, always gone to Homebase for my DIY needs (ooh eer), and up until now I have had no cause to complain. Unfortunately that changed recently.
As we all know, Homebase was taken over fairly recently, meaning that Sainsbury’s is no longer involved, and there have been a few changes, including a new refund policy, and that is what this op is about.
I have moved house recently, and I went to Homebase for everything from paint to step ladders to...

homebase delivery - 10 weeks and still waiting
Advantages: none
Disadvantages: loads
...We made the error of ordering a kitchen and two bathrooms form Homebase. We ordered them at end of Jan and we are still waiting after being told that it would take 4-6 week and it's now going to be ten - that's if they actually deliver this time. We have been told so many different dates at this point. The staff in store where really nice and I couldn't fault them except that they should perhaps warn of delays and of how common they seem to be. We have been told that the delivery will arrive on such a date only 2 days before hand to be told that they are delayed again - it driving me insane. We have had builder on site and everything, Homebase keep harping back to the fact that in their policy they recommend you hold of booking tradesmen until the delivery arrives - do they not realize that the world doesn't work like that and that you...

pull your pants up Homebase
Advantages: no good if they don!t deliver what you want when you want it!
Disadvantages: as above
...I recently made a purchase from Homebase online and it left something to be desired!
Whilst the quality of Homebase goods has never been a problem to me,you get what you pay for afterall, in theory anyway.
Due to a dodgy car and intense lazyness i decided to purchase heavy items including paint and a steam cleaning machine at Homebase online.
I paid a premium delivery charge for delivery after 6.pm so that i would be at home and have some strong arms to carry the goodys, my order arrived at 3.55pm!
I paid £35.00 for the steam cleaner ,the one I received cost only £29.99 but I was charged £35.00.
As i was anxious to get on with my decorating I was forced to load up said steam cleaner and make the 24 mile round trip to my local Homebase.
Although the staff were apologetic they claimed to have no knowledge of their online procedures...
