Best 125cc Motorcycle
Review of Honda CG-125 by
HondaCG125
Advantages: Loads
Disadvantages: Less than all other 125cc Motorcycles
...I have a Honda CG125, 2005 year, owned from new
I could tell you how good the bike is, like nearly every review of the bike.
But I do not wish to bore you with another identical review saying exactly the same.
I was amazed to find no websites that support the Honda CG125, so I have created one.
http://hondacg125.awardspace.com/
If you like my website, please rate this review as high as possible, since it's the best way for people to find my website using the search engines (else website will be hard to find).
I could write a very large review of the bike, since I am an experienced rider, I past my test over 10 years ago and have had several bikes, I have also done over 10,000 miles on the bike, including many trips between 150 and 250 miles in a day.
I have also been reading everything I can about the Honda CG125 and other makes...

Great first bike
Review of Yamaha YBR 125 by
youngas75
Advantages: Styling, comfort, price
Disadvantages: Akward choke, no temp guage
...This is my first bike after passing my CBT. I basically was looking for a runaround so I don't use the car so much for short trips. I looked at the Honda CG125, Suzuki EN125 and a Kymco Zing 125. The Kymco was the better looking, cruiser stlye, loads of chrome, but it was second hand and a bit rusty so I left it. The first thing to strike me about the Yamaha was the size of it. it looks a lot bigger then you would expect a 125 to look. It's not in the same catagory as the Honda Varadero (spelling?) as that thing us huge but it's still plenty bike. I felt a little oversized on the Honda CG125, I'm 6 ft and lanky, but on the Yamaha it felt right. All the pedals, levers and switches are easily accessible and it has the rev counter which is one over on the Honda. The fuel guage is useful also as the CG125 I learnt on didn't have one so you...

you have found your first motorcycle
Review of Honda XR125L by
matto228
Advantages: cheap to buy, cheap to run, handles most terrain, good looks
Disadvantages: basic technology, rear drum break
...I bought my honda xr 125 from a local dealer for £2400 this included 2 years warranty and 2 years breakdown cover. I believe that for the money its a great value bike and it has never let me down on reliability after 1000 miles. Thats 300 miles run in period and then 700 miles of giving it death and it just seems to love it. The ride itself is reasonably comfortable and the handling is ok as the bike is quite light. As for performance, ok its not the fastest 125 but lets remember that it is a 4 stroke engine which is more reliable and much better sounding than its faster 2 stroke alternative. That said, its not as bad as most people told me, it can find a comfortable cruise at 50mph after taking no time to reach and you can squeeze 65mph out of a long straight. 5th gear does seem to offer no extra power though. I use this bike whenever...

lord of 125cc
Review of Honda XL125V Varadero by
cadetspy
Advantages: reilable, economical, good looking
Disadvantages: exhuast and nuts gets rusty
...Definately the best 125 market can offer you. The best part is the looks which is just great it looks like 400 to 600cc. Fuel consumption is excellent just fill the tank with 14 pounds and its gona give you an average of 44miles per litre. All the features are good but there is no fuel guage [the fuel guage is not very reliable in motorcycles anyway] The height of this bike is bit more then average which makes it hard to drive if you are shorter then 5'6'' otherwise control and handling is not a problem and driving it will be just fun. The only bad point is the exhaust pipe which gets rusty with rain and damp except that its just excellent....

Great for first time riders
Review of Honda NSR125 by
Gabriel013
Advantages: Cheap to run, Easy to ride
Disadvantages: Routine Maintenance
...I passed my CBT in October 02 and was looking for a nice, cheap sports bike to 'break me in' so to speak.
I narrowed it down to a possible three, one of which was the Honda NSR 125.
This truly is a great bike for new riders as it has quite a comfortable ride and has extremely forgiving handling. Though it looks like quite a large bike for 125cc's, it is nimble and filters through traffic well.
I have had no reliability problems and even in winter, the engine starts fine.
It's really cheap to run; I've been getting about 65 miles per gallon out of it.
If I had to find faults I would say that it is a little on the heavy side for it's engine size, and to add more oil (every couple of unleaded fill ups), you are required to lift the entire fuel tank which is easily done but can be a little annoying....

This Honda CG125 thing..
Review of Honda CG-125 by
Ruthy_a
Advantages: It does what it says on the tin
Disadvantages: not for 'boy racers'
...I always wondered why they feel the need for all those letters.. still dont know, maybe its something to do with the whole 'letters after your name' thing? Trying to sound impressive and just making people fall asleep??
Anyway.. the bike.. well I have ridden a few 100cc and 125cc motorbikes and the Honda CG125 is used by training establishments because of its ease of operation, its ease of maintenance and its reliability.
So its not meant to be a high thrills bike, I find motorbikes like this one ideal for going shopping with or every day commuting, just doing the normal sort of things, not trying to race off and get very flat and very dead quickly.
Its not a bike for the 'weekend warrior' at all as it doesnt mix with their flash racing leathers and 'I'm alergic to riding in the rain' illness, and doesnt even get a mention...

Brilliant learner legal bike.
Review of Honda NSR125 by
MattCat
Advantages: Fast for a 125, nippy and a superb clutch. Haddles brilliant above 10mph, better than the RS125.
Disadvantages: Haddling not so great at low speeds, quite heavy 132kg. Also very easy to flood the engine. Small tyres.
...A fast, but legal learner sports bike is in the minds of young ambitious riders. Yet this might seem impossible, Honda have come to the rescue yet again with another fabulously built, desirable, practical and reliable bike.
Honda are famous for building high performance but reliable engines, and the Honda NSR125R is no exception. This little beast can reach excess speeds of 100mph. Thats faster than a 17-year olds 1.2 Nova! So if you are thinkin of buying a Sports 125, don't sit their reading reviews, contact your local Honda dealer and tell them you would a HONDA NSR125R!
Engine - The Japanesse, water cooled, single cyclinder, 2-stroke engine can pump out upto 27bhp, moving it from 0-60 in just under 6 seconds. Though acceleration is remarkable, it lakes mid-range talk, moving from 30-60 in top gear can take a very long time...

New '04/'05 CG125 is a great improvement
Review of Honda CG-125 by
stave84
Advantages: Cheap, 90+mpg, light, easy to ride
Disadvantages: It isnt going to drop jaws!
...Ive seen all the other reviews for the CG125 and everybody says the same things, most of which are true, but ive been riding my new '04 reg GC125 (with the new electric start/disk brake/new looks) and it's much much better.
I learned on the old CG125 and it vibrates like crazy, and the mirrors are simply useless at anything over 30, but with the new CG125 things have changed. I find it very comfortable to ride, the vibrations have gone, and the mirrors dont vibrate so you can actually see what's behind you (something you dont get on most big bikes!).
Now for the important bits. The bike is certainly not lacking power in the lower gears. It accelerates really quickly, and whatever other people say, it will cruise at 60mph without a 2nd thought. The problem comes trying to get from ~63 up to anything faster. Honda rate the bike...

Great bike
Review of Honda NSR125 by
Ashjones
Advantages: Reliable, fast, great learner bike, VERY fuel efficient
Disadvantages: Can be costly to buy
...I can't recommend this bike highly enough. FANTASTIC learner bike, builds confidence, fast accelerating, easy to handle, fun to ride. Never had any problems with it starts in the freezing colds of winter and rides perfectly. This is the ultimate learner bike, rs125's are unreliable and constantly breaking down, i really dont see how they have such a fan base. The nsr is gorgeous and sounds great for a 2-stroke. replacement parts are easy to get hold of and honda area a great make (i had a broken indicator lens, cost £3.60 for a replacement, briliant!) it handles well al all speeds, slower speeds affect it but not in a major way. seriously great bike if you are starting your biking life this is the one for you! (I have black model, lovely looking thing!) Also £10 of fuel did 100 miles in mine:D...

For the first-timer who wants a bit more
Review of Honda SES125 Dylan by
PGregory
Advantages: Smooth ride, easy handling, zippy little bike
Disadvantages: Watch out for exhaust baffle failure and take care popping the seat
...I owned a Honda Dylan from new for two years, finally selling it after I outgrew it.
What you get
Automatic twist-and-go scooter with 125 cc engine, Honda 3 year warranty, including 2 years free HondaCare breakdown cover (which I needed, more on that later), set of tools, excellent manual, free first service, a useful bike safety DVD (A Street, A Track, An Open Road).
Why buy new
These scooters don't depreciate that much and are in great demand second hand. Although the list price is £2000, you can pick one up from most dealers for about £1700, whereas second-hand you'll pay at least £1200 for a 2 or 3-year old model.
New, you'll have the added benefit of the warranty, breakdown cover and free first service.
What's it like?
It's an ideal first scooter: quick, easy to ride, cheap to run. I regularly did 130 mile round trips...
