Honda Civic Sport 1.6 V-tec, 3 door.
Advantages: Mans Car, Fast, Very Stylish, Economical
Disadvantages: Repairs,
...My boyfriend bought this car in June 2006 (it was 1 year old at this point). He pays almost £900 for insurance with Arnold Clark (whom he bought it from - he was aged 22 at the time). That's fully comp, and includes business class 1 terms, so for his first car and own insurance policy (no other drivers), I think it's not too bad (insurance group 6). Elephant.co.uk have offered him a quote of almost £650 with 1 years no claims. Again, not too bad.
I drive the car on occasion. It's maybe a bit slow off the mark (it can feel as though the gear grinds between 1st and 2nd), however, other than that it goes through the gears with ease. You can feel the power of the engine when the V-tec kicks in, at around 60 mph. The car has good fuel consumption. My boyfriend uses his car every day for work, quite a lot at weekends too, and he uses £35...

Honda Civic 1.8 i-VTEC Sport i-Shift
Advantages: Bold looks and nice features
Disadvantages: Disturbing spoiler
...The moment I looked at this car, I was attracted to its looks. It has bold designs, especially the front, which deserves an applause. The cabin space is more than acceptable while the boot is generous.
However, the exterior is not so perfect. The rear is restricted by the racy spoiler and there is no wiper. This may be quite hard for the driver to see during bad weather conditions. The start/stop button is not quite worthwhile, while the front seat passenger has to stretch in order to reach the ventilation controls.
I would say that having this Civic is worth the money as standard equipment levels are high and the amount of safety kit is generous even on entry-level models.
As said, the cabin and boot is spacious to accommodate a growing family. Although the car doors are a bit small, space is reasonable because...

Honda Civic
Advantages: Good built, reliability, smooth ride, good economy, funky interior
Disadvantages: Have'nt found any
...In my family we have 4 cars, 3 of which are hondas, two of them are Civic's, they really are that good! I often am a skeptic when it comes to people telling me such things.
I bought my civic 5 months ago, 2nd hand from a local dealer, the car is 5 years old and had 69000 miles on the clock. Even so, I knew that Honda cars are built to last. Its the way they engineer the cars - quality and lots of it.
The car its self has given me no problems what so ever. It is a very smooth ride, and offers excellent fuel economy without comprising on other areas. It is a very powerful car and as such I wouldnt recommend it for drivers you have just passed there tests (plus the insurance for first time drivers is substantial
There is ample boot space and if you fold the seats (60/40 split) you could easily go camping. Or fit several...

Honda civic 1.6 sport - a good buy.
Advantages: Looks, reliability, performance, economy
Disadvantages: some little niggles (see text)
...The 1.6 civic sport is now the second civic I've owned from new and there are a number of reasons why I've stayed faithful to the Honda brand. Honda engines are very reliable and I have yet to have any problems in this regard. Moreover, the dealers are generally easily accessible and most offer a relatively high level of customer service throughout - whether your car's in for a service or just a new set of wiper blades.
The 1.6 engine, as well as being reliable is also economical. I drive the car pretty hard and it still returns in the region of 32 mpg which is pretty good going. Less 'spirited' driving returns an mpg closer to 36. A full tank of petrol comes in at around £35.00 for me and that's at around 85p per litre. I've had the car 9 months now and it's covered around 14k miles. In this time it's had its first service at 12...

Honda Civic Type-R (2005)
Advantages: Speed, Handling, Engine Note, i-Vtec
Disadvantages: Old looks, Sometimes harsh ride
...) on some kerbs while parking. Be careful!
I love the drive - when you hit the i-VTEC (at just below 6000 rpm), the engine comes alive, and the speed of the car really becomes apparent. It's not the fastest car on the road, but it's still got the grunt to surprise me after six months and ten thousand miles.
Another concern I had was when I read that some people had troubles with the drive on thier commute. I have found that this is not the case. In fact, I found this car easier to live with day-to-day than an old turbo-charged hot-hatch I owned (Gti) - this is due to the Honda i-VTEC kicking in at 6000 rpm, hence you can easliy drive in traffic to 4000 rpm and the engine is quite passive and easy to use.
Choosing to buy a 2005 Civic Type-R today, you must consider that the shape has now been updated. A good friend of mine has recently...

HONDA CIVIC Type R 2003
Advantages: Speed, looks, 6000revs, and space
Disadvantages: Pricy on Insurance and Petrol
...WAW.... Well i finally have my Honda civic Type R. I was lucky to get the leather interior and aircon and cd changer which is always nice to have. Its GREAT, i was a little worried about the gears but that has seemed to be one of the best things about it. its close to the steering wheel and its just feels right.
This car is for people who want to have a reliable fast car. ok im not saying that its going to blow your socks off but its quick enough to have a little fun.
everything about the car is great, the looks, the feel and the sound grat.
And its true what they say, it always puts a smile on your face when you reach 6000 revs and let the type R go.
even talking about it puts a smile on my face its great, now i know what you probably thinking, that this dude is forver saying GREAT but guess what it really is.
now...

Civic Style
Advantages: Safe, stylish, ecconomical, front and rear cup holders!
Disadvantages: Small glove comparment
...I have had a company car from the moment I passed my driving test but in 2001 after changes to the tax laws I decided to opt out of my company car scheme and purchase my first car.
I had been driving a VW Passatt Estate but wanted something a bit smaller, the obvious choice was a VW Golf but I had driven these in the past and wanted to try something different, besides the golf?s are a little more pricey than other hatchbacks and seeing as I was paying for this myself, money was now an issue.
I looked at most of the 5 door hatchbacks in the class but it was the Honda Civic that stood out amongst the rest and for just £13,500 I was able to purchase the 1.6 SE Executive model.
Here are the technical bits that mean nothing to me! It has 4 cylinders with 4 valves per cylinder. Maximum horsepower is 110@5600, maximum power kW/RPM is...

Honda Civic Type R 30th Anniversary Edition
Advantages: Performance, Price, Handling, Practicality
Disadvantages: Engine needs to be worked to get performance, lack of gadgets
...Honda announced this limited edition model to commemorate 30 years of the Civic model in production. As a UK model it was restricted to 300 examples: 100 Red, 100 Black, 100 Silver. I was fortunate enough to order one back in October 2002 in Silver for early 2003 delivery.
The Type R in standard guise became something of a cult vehicle to many performance car enthuisiasts. This was mainly due to it's normally aspirated engine producing 200bhp (197 according to manufacturers figures), race car handling and a VFM price tag.
However producing a limited edition was something of a masterstroke by Honda's marketing department, because virtually every example found a home well before they were officially advertised, mine included.
To make this car that little bit special, Honda added red Alcantara Recaro seats, a leather MOMO...

Honda Civic 1.6SE Sport 3dr
Advantages: Gearchange, reliability,comfort,fuel consumption,ease of driving,handling
Disadvantages: Road noise, headlights
...Updated April 2007: I sold my Civic last year after 82000 miles. At that point still no faults apart from the ABS warning light which came on then disappeared after a week. Highly recommended for build quality and reliability. Paintwork still spot on, no rattles or squeaks.
Original review:
I purchased my Civic in april 2002, and have now completed 68000 miles, with no breakdowns. It has never failed to start, and the only mechanical fault was the rear washer motor which jammed. This was sorted out by the dealer. Also, due to the lack of a driver's heel mat I wore a hole in the carpet at 30000 miles. This was changed by the dealer with no quibbles. The dealer always offer a courtesy car and clean the car when it is serviced.
The plus points are the superb gearchange. Although it is unusual in coming from the fascia it only takes...
