HONDA JAZZ 1.4 SE CVT-7. AUTOMATICALLY BETTER?
Advantages: Great Transmission. Smooth Engine. Low Running Costs. Hugely Spacious Interior. Build Quality.
Disadvantages: Messy Dashboard Styling. Uninspiring Exterior Styling.
...WHAT IS IT?
The Jazz is Honda's entry into the highly contested and ever popular "supermini" market. It is a five door hatchback, a very simple range to choose from as there are no variants; saloon, convertible etc, all Jazz models therefore share the same "two box" styling. For those of you to whom it may be important, the dimensions are as follows:
Length 3845mm x Width 1878mm x Height 1525mm.
It is therefore a fairly short, yet wide and tall small car, having a tardis affect inside where it seems much larger than you would think looking at the car sitting next to the pavement.
There are any number of competitors from Japanese, Korean and European countries, probably its' most likely competition can be found in the form of the Ford Fiesta, Mitsubishi Colt, Nissan Micra and Vauxhall Corsa, all of which offer a much larger...

Honda jazz 2003-2008
Advantages: Great economy and excellent interior space
Disadvantages: Plain exterior design
...The Honda Jazz is a very fun car, its small and easy to park and the interior design has been well thought out, the space is utilised very well, its almost a small wagon with the seats all folding away and creating a large area to carry things around town, I have noticed a few cases of the CVT transmission developing shuddering when taking off and slight oil leaks from the sump in some cases. Im very impressed with this car, and with the new model now released im sure we will not be dissapointed. Its an all round great town car with many uses, and excellent fuel economy, and they are a reasonably priced vehicle. I have driven the sport model and these are a step up in looks. This cars interior design of the dash was upgraded at some point with nice sterio and speedo design. In my opinion the car will not let you down in reliability...

Jazz up your motoring
Advantages: space, comfort, flexibility, fuel economy
Disadvantages: absolutely none for me
...Having endured a horrifying M5 breakdown in my 5 year old Escort not long ago, I decided the time was right for a new car. And I wanted brand new, in the hope that I would be guaranteed a few years trouble-free motoring (and hopefully no sudden expenses) with a good warranty and some peace of mind.
In my new car, I wanted the following features:
Light and easy to drive
Comfortable seating and leg room in the back
Fuel economy
A good sounding stereo
Affordable insurance
Quiet and reasonably powerful engine
Safety
Good looks
Flexibility (i.e. can take large packages/suitcases etc when necessary)
A make with a strong reputation for reliability
Extra gizmos
Under (preferably considerably under) £10,000
A lot to ask? Yes, but then along came the Honda Jazz?
Criteria 1: Light and easy to drive
My Honda Jazz drives...

Honda Jazz 1.2 i-DSi S
Advantages: Great city car, lots of room, storage space, good Dsi engine, good resale value
Disadvantages: Maybe a pricey for some especially the 1.4 not much wrong with this car
...Thanks to the Jazz, Honda has proven itself more than capable of taking on Europe's best super-minis. Although only having one model in the range has limited buyer's choice. So as part of its recent mid-life revamp, the Jazz is given a new 1.2 litre engine to broaden its appeal. At £8,725, it undercuts the cheapest 1.4 in the range by £1,900. The 1.2 produces just 5bhp less than its bigger brother and feels almost as quick. You have to work it hard on the motorway, and it gets a little rough under such pressure, but the 1.2 will mostly be used for town driving. This is what it does best. There's enough power to enable you to zip in and out of traffic, the throttle response is instant and the five-speed manual gearbox is one of the best in the class. It snicks into place with such precision it shames gear boxes belonging to cars three...

All that Jazz
Advantages: Very very clever package
Disadvantages: almost none
...”.
Cute? What the bloody hell does that mean? I’ll tell you what it means. It means I can’t bloody win, that’s what “Cute” means. Even if I get everything else perfect, she can always get me by quoting the “Cute” amendment. “Yes dear, it may be all those things and it may be quicker than a very quick thing but it just isn’t cute”.
Bugger.
So, I looked at the little Polo Diesel and the Mini One. The only other car that caught my eye was, the Honda Jazz. The Polo does it on economy and build quality, the Mini One on “cute” and the Honda ‘cos I think it’s dead clever.
Anyway I took my lovely lady to view all three one Sunday afternoon in May. The Polo didn’t even get a test drive. She sat in it and immediately pronounced it “...

Time to jazz things up a little
Advantages: loads of fun
Disadvantages: expensive for a small car
...Having been a Big Car driver for many years, I decided a year ago this week to become more environmentally friendly.
Looking for something a little less staid than the Saab, Merc and Rover 75 that had been my previous three cars, the five door Honda Jazz caught my attention by jumping up and down excitedly on the forecourt whenever I drove by. I had to have it because it made me feel so happy. I even like the brand name. It's high safety spec, (special mention given to Honda's award for pedestrian safety) and solid security features galvanised me into the decision.
This is a little car, tiny in fact, on the outside. I'm almost five feet tall and I can reach across the roof to wash it! It has curved lines with a little snub nose and the girls and I think that from the front it looks like a little cat.
Get inside though...

The new jazz, what a lovely car
Advantages: To many to list, but you can see all of road, get in 1 and you will see what i mean
Disadvantages: at the momment i can not find any (and boy have i looked)
...The wifes peugeot 307 was getting a bit old, and needless to say getting a bit dangerous so started to look around for something for about 12k + the banger.
first looked at the focus, well out of price range, then the new fiesta, looked lovely but could only get a tea cup in the back which for a family car is no good, plus anything else you wanted i.e. back disk brakes, were all extras so boosting up the price. So looked on top gear in that range and said I was better of getting a honda jazz, so had a look. I was smitten straight away nearly everything that was extra on the fiesta was standard on the honda plus with the ES version you had i-shift which is either automatic or what they call i-shift manual with or without paddles on the stearing wheel (just like the f1 ferrari) without a clutch. The amount of space in the car is amazing...

And all that Jazz
Advantages: Great magic seats system
Disadvantages: Hondas own roof bars (larger than normal roof bars)
...I got my honda Jazz 6 months ago, it was a brand new car, and i was excited about driving it.
i was looking for a small car, so i was drawn to clio's & corsa's, but i felt they were slightly to small for my needs, i then saw a honda jazz and i immediatly was drawn to it.
From the outside it looks tiny, but from the inside it feels spacious. There is ample leg room in the front and back
The model i have is the 1.4i which has five manual gears, alloy wheels, heated mirrors, A/C and a cd player
The driving experience is good, the dash controls logically set out, gears well defined and the pedals nicely responsive. Road visibility is superb with no blind spots, and the wide angle side mirrors are very effective.
And for the passengers, they're comfortable despite what look like small seats. There are plenty of cupholders...

Jazz makes you want to sing and dance!
Advantages: Economy, reliability, looks, spaciousness, drive
Disadvantages: none
...I'm not going to regurgitate all the specs - you can read them at http://www.honda.co.uk
Basically, we needed a family car that was flexible enough to handle our needs and be economical and fun in the process.
We found that car in the Honda Jazz.
Initial impressions are that it looks a lot like a Civic, apart from the slightly squat front with cute bug-eyes, and the aerial at the front of the roof and not the rear. However elsewhere things are very different and the Jazz is aimed at flexibility and not the "boy racer" crowd that the Civic sometimes attracts.
The inside is hugely spacious - easily enough space for 5 adults in comfort. The driving position is excellent with good visibility and driver+passenger airbags as standard. Note that the basic model doesn't feature a height adjustable driver's seat so if you are...

Jazz up your life (warning: not a technical op)
Advantages: good fuel consumption, cute, fun, reliable
Disadvantages: bit small
...This is the car that i learned to drive in, and so, for me i will always have fond memories of it. It is a small but compact four door car that is quite spacious for four people although five can be squeezed in. It is a really fun car to drive because it is small and nippy! It's also a great car to learn in because it has a forgiving clutch and is easy to manouver.
So onto some more technical stuff, this car has a i-DSI engine, to be honest i don't know the specific implications of this but the result is that you can drive 450 miles on one tank of fuel! wow!
For safety the jazz has anti-locking breaks, head restraints and of course all-important seat belts- super!
Furthermore Honda has done it's best to make the car as roomy as possible. THe ceiling has been hired and the wheels pushed out to the sides so that despite it being...
