Honda Civic Type-R (2005)

...I have owned a Honda Civic Type R (2005 Model) for around six months now. I had many concerns about the car before buying it, however not one of these concerns still hangs over my ownership. I chose to buy a red example, but this is personal preference. I was concerned about the road noise of the car, given the stiff suspension and low profile tyres, as I do a fair amount of motorway miles. So far, I've barely noticed. I don't find the road noise too intrusive, only on the most harsh of road surfaces. Even then, the sweet engine note is more than enough compensation. The hard suspension is a bit of an issue over speed bumps - not to the point that you hear bottoming out noises, but it will certainly throw you around if you don't slow down. ...WAW.... Well i finally have my Honda civic Type R. I was lucky to get the leather interior and aircon and cd changer which is always nice to have. Its GREAT, i was a little worried about the gears but that has seemed to be one of the best things about it. its close to the steering wheel and its just feels right. This car is for people who want to have a reliable fast car. ok im not saying that its going to blow your socks off but its quick enough to have a little fun. everything about the car is great, the looks, the feel and the sound grat. And its true what they say, it always puts a smile on your face when you reach 6000 revs and let the type R go. even talking about it puts a smile on my face its great, now i know what you probably thinking, that this dude is forver saying GREAT but guess what it really is. now...

Honda Civic Type R 30th Anniversary Edition

...Honda announced this limited edition model to commemorate 30 years of the Civic model in production. As a UK model it was restricted to 300 examples: 100 Red, 100 Black, 100 Silver. I was fortunate enough to order one back in October 2002 in Silver for early 2003 delivery. The Type R in standard guise became something of a cult vehicle to many performance car enthuisiasts. This was mainly due to it's normally aspirated engine producing 200bhp (197 according to manufacturers figures), race car handling and a VFM price tag. However producing a limited edition was something of a masterstroke by Honda's marketing department, because virtually every example found a home well before they were officially advertised, mine included. 2007 Type R FN2 - A Great Car

...I drove past the Honda Garage in October whilst looking for a Ford Focus ST (to be honest I hadnt even thought about the CTR) and saw that they had a 57 reg milano red type r with 9000 miles for £14995. My budget was 12000 plus the part exchange value of my previous fiat (total of about £14000). I was sceptical about getting £1000 knocked off but thought it would be worth a shot. I took the car out for a test drive and was impressed at how easy the car was to drive about town. I was getting 29mpg which was very impressive (dont get that any more sadly!) I waited over a month, looking at other dealerships as the prices were starting to drop with the current economic climate. Type R? Type Rubbish!

...I regret ever setting eyes upon my Type R. I purchased a fully serviced 53-plate Honda Civic Type R from a Honda dealership in Grantham in November 2006. My reasons for choosing Honda was because I deemed them to be reliable and I went through a dealership specifically for warranty cover. After 4 months of owning the car, in March 2007 there was a tremendous clanging which could be heard over the radio. The car was recovered by AA the next day who took it to Honda to be looked at. The AA man discovered that the noise was down to a lack of oil in the car ? it had burnt 4.2 litres of oil in 3,000 miles which Honda stated is normal for a Type R! Honda wanted to strip the engine at my own personal cost to see if the car needed a new engine costing £8,000. Honda advised me that this would not be covered under warranty and I would have to bear...

Honda Civic Type R - a great all rounder

...My husband purchased our brand new Civic Type R in September 2002 so we have been running it now for over 18 months. In that time all the car has need has been 1 routine service (<£100) and recently 2 new front tyres (£230). I can honestly say after running this car for 18 months that I would not swap it for any other car if I had the choice again. It has the perfect balance of reliability, style, performance and practicality. As a rough guide the car will do 40mpg on a long journey and about 27mpg around town. I would say this is above average for a car capable of 150mph - not on public roads of course! The interior of the car is very classy with good supportive stylish seats with the Type R logo stitched into them. The rest of the interior is a muted grey with silver sections. The instrument panel is a cream background...

...I managed to get a ride in a 2004 Type R recently. My fist impression is that the car is a bit plasticy, although rattle free, but from the feel of the interior, the racing-style seats, I kinda figured you don't buy a Type-R for the awesome interior so further interior opinions won't be forthcoming. Put your foot hard down, and off it goes. Not blisteringly quickly infact, I was initially suprised about how not-fast it seemed, but I am afraid what they say is true - you hit about 6km, VTEC does indeed kick in, and it's off like a rocket.. ...unfortunately, you are then introduced to the rev limiter a tad sooner than I'd have liked - although the car revs to 8500rpm it doesn't take very long to get there. Type-R packs a punch

Advantages: Gearbox, i-VTEC Zone, Handling, Performance
Disadvantages: Economy but it's dependant on your right foot!

.... Honda make good engines, fact....rumour has it that they have never had an i-VTEC engine fail under warranty, and this thing revs out at 8250rpm !!! most cars rev out at 5700 !!! Everyday use is fine if you consider yourself a "driver", if you are a "pootler", this won't be your cup of tea, it needs to be revved. Low down torque is fine, contrary to what you read from the "press experts", but then they don't drive them daily for a year do they. It is fast and the handling is superb. Get Air-Con, it is a falicy what they say about the extra weight...... So inside, well it is sparce but comfortable, the seats are very supportive and adjustable ( i don't like the adjustment mechanism it is a little flighty) but it does work. The whole concept of Honda's Type-R range is weight reduction and high revving engines equal extra performance...
