...I am writing a review on the DVD Honeymoon in Vegas starring Sarah Jessica Parker, Nicholas cage and James Cann. Nicholas Cage stars as Jack Singer, a private Detective who is dating Betsy Nolen played by Sarah Jessica Parker. Jack and Betsy have been dating for some time now, and Betsy feels that she is more than ready for the next stage in their relationship - Marriage. However, on the day Jacks mother died, on her death bed, she begs him never to marry, as no one will ever love him as much as she will, and these words haunt him in his dreams. So things are starting to go down hill for their relationship until one night jack says "Lets do it, let's go to Vegas and get married tomorrow" Off the two go to Vegas thinking it was the start of a new life for them, but this was only the start of the problems that was facing them...

Advantages: Something A Bit Different, Undiscovered, Easy Listening, Charming!

Honeymoon

Advantages: an easy read
Disadvantages: somewhat predictable in places

...I am suprised by the rating given to this book as I thought it was a great read. I had never heard of Amy Jenkins when I decided to read this book, but I had to buy her second - "Funny Valentine" once I had. This book follows Honeymoon, a woman engaged to Ed even though she is not sure he is the one for her. One night spent with a stranger named Alex has become a story told by her friends, claiming him to be the "love of her life". Honey is unable to forget him and when he comes into her life again does not know who to choose. One thing I like about this book is the layout. Honey narrates the story but at points there are emails sent to her which give us the other characters story from their point of view, and also their thoughts about Honey. The book is sometimes unrealistic for example the way in which Honey meets up...

Honeymoon I'd rather stay at home

Advantages: easy to get into
Disadvantages: sometimes you loose track of who some of the characters are.

...This is Amy Jenkins first novel, she also wrote the hit series This Life but I must have been the only person who never watched it I tuned in once and I couldn't keep up with the storyline even though most of my friends raved about it and constantly filled me in on what was going on etc. This was about the same as this book. I kept having to go back a few pages as I constantly felt I was missing some important details and parts of the story out and who characters were and how they were involved in the plot of the book. Spoiler alert! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This is a story about a girl called Honeymoon or Honey for short who is preparing for her wedding to Ed who although is very nice and perfect husband material she can't stop thinking about the love of her life whom she met seven years ago and had a one night fling...

Not the most conventional honeymoon

Disadvantages: Not as good as I hoped it would be

...I had high hopes for this book, when I found out it was by the writer of the cult TV series This Life, which I loved. Unfortunately, I didn't feel that the book lived up to the hype. Although I thought the story was a great idea, I thought the heroine, Honeymoon Holt (so named because that's where she was conceived - her sister is called Venice), was a bit of a spoilt brat, used to getting her own way. While I did warm towards her in the end, I didn't feel much empathy with her. I won't give away the story by saying what it's about, but as you know from the blurb, Honeymoon meets the man of her dreams on her honeymoon - well, that's what it says, she'd actually met him before she got married. Dealing with the empty nest!

...'Second Honeymoon' is Joanna Trollope's thirteenth novel, and like all of the others is a really good read. In my view, Joanne Trollope is a very good observer of people and their relationships, and this is at the centre of all her books. None are action packed adventure stories but all give good insights into other people's lives. She deals with quite complex issues that affect families like divorce and second marriages and affairs. In 'Second Honeymoon' she examines what happens to a family when all the children grow up and leave! At the centre of the novel are Edie and Russell.
