Excellent Hong Kong Hotel
Advantages: Great transportation links
Disadvantages: none
...When trying to decide on a hotel for our trip to Hong Kong we did a lot of research and opted for the Metro Park Hotel in Causeway bay rather than its sister hotel in Kowloon. This was mainly due to its location in a quieter part of town and its superb transport links. The hotel is roughly three quarters of an hour from the airport and the bus to the airport stops at the door of the hotel, as our transport was included we did not use that option. It is well located too with the MTR station being just along the road, the trams passing the end of the road and the bus to Stanley also just a short walk away. The hotel also runs free transport to Causeway Bay shopping area and also Wan Chai for the conference centre and star ferry.
The hotel has car parking on the ground floor and you enter the reception on the first floor by lift...

Metropark Hotel - High Life in Hong Kong
Advantages: Views, rooftop pool, nice rooms, free broadband
Disadvantages: Little walk to the nightlife and shopping
...I stayed here with my partner at the end of May 2006 for three nights at a cost of £50 per night for a standard room. We were starting our gap year travels here, and had done plenty of research to find a reasonably priced hotel, due to the high cost of living in Hong Kong.
We got the airport express into Hong Kong and then got a taxi to the hotel, which took fifteen minutes.
Located in Causeway Bay, on average it took us twenty minutes to walk into the city centre, where the shopping and restaurants generally were, but this was not a problem for us. There were always taxis outside if you wanted to gete there quicker, but we wanted to see more of the city.
Upon arrival our bags were taken out of the taxi for us by hotel staff and taken up the escalator to the reception. Heree we checked in and we were giveen our keys. There...

Hong Kong Phooey
Advantages: stunning views, good location
Disadvantages: expensive dining
...The Rennaisance Harbour View Hotel is located close to the central commercial district, within easy walking distance of the Star ferry, which you catch over to Kowloon. it is 44 km from the airport and has car parking facilites. The hotel is 42-story with 860 guestrooms and suites overlooking Hong Kong's Victoria Harbor.
At the restaurants you can eat classic Cantonese and western cuisine and the facilities within the hotel include a podium garden, outdoor swimming pool, Jacuzzi, a golf driving range, tennis courts, a jogging trail and a fitness center.
Room facilities include air-conditioning, mini-Bar, cots, radio, tea and coffee making facilities, safe, cable television, hair dryer, voicemail and inhouse movies.
The hotel also offers babysitting services, restaurants, bar, beauty parlour, car rental, shops...

Sleeping in Hong Kong
Advantages: affordable,convenient
Disadvantages: nnone worth mentioning
...This month I had the pleasure of going to Hong Kong on a research trip with two other recent graduates and a lecturer in sociology. It was an amazing trip and I am sure I will write more about it very soon indeed. But this review is about our base, the Charterhouse Hotel.
The hotel is on Wan Chai Road on Hong Kong Island, a very convenient base for sightseeing, shopping, eating and basically everything. Wan Chai Road is between Wan Chai MTR (metro) station and Causeway Bay station, a 5 minute walk between the two.
The website is www.charterhouse.com, which may give you more information. As this trip was funded by research committees, we booked standard rooms, which were single rooms with an en suite, at about £50 a night including breakfast. The website illustrates the deluxe rooms and suites, but our budget did not stretch to...

An excellent quality hotel
Advantages: Excellent service and very nice rooms
Disadvantages: Limited sunbathing space at the pool
...I have just returned from a trip to Hong Kong during which time I stayed at this hotel (check-in 01 Aug 2007, check-out 05 Aug 2007).
Having previously stayed at the Nathan Hotel and the Pruton Prudential Hotel in Hong Kong, I can safely say the Eaton Hotel is far better than either of these two.
The hotel is conveniently located near Jordan Station on the MTR subway system. It is also only a short walk from the A21 bus which offers return journeys from the airport for 55 Hong Kong Dollars (HKD).
Although located on Nathan Road, its entrance is somewhat concealed, and its main entrance appears to be on a side street off the main road. However, the hotel is clearly marked from the outside with big lettering on the building visible if walking southwards down Nathan Road (towards the Harbour).
Once you arrive, you are greeted by...

Hong Kong PHEWEY
Advantages: some nice sights
Disadvantages: the stench, the cleanliness, the pollution........
..., if you're anything like me, will want to wretch. I took a friend to this area and we both decided that 'boiling diarrhoea' was an accurate description of the aroma? mmm? lovely. Seriously it was revolting.
In fact, I was disappointed as a whole with the food in HK. I'm a strong stomached lad who can eat just about anything, but Hong Kong gave me the worst upset tum I've had in my life? hence I know that boiling diarrhoea is an accurate description.
I tried lots of the local Chinese restaurants, as you do, and tried some of the more exotic dishes to be had, as well as the sweet and sour pork. I've tried frog's ovaries, sea snails, chicken feet and lots of things off menus without an English translation. Some were nice, in fact the stranger things were the nicer they were?
After two weeks of eating in restaurants and hotels I...

Disney Hong Kong - Where dreams sort of come true!
Advantages: All rides, shows and fire works display included in your ticket price
Disadvantages: Alot smaller than imagined
...HONG KONG DISNEY LAND - June 2007
This theme park opened in 2005 so it is fairly new and is 126 Hectares. It has four lands which are Fantasyland, Adventure Land, Tommorowland and Main Street USA, which all have there own theme and different rides!
TRANSPORT
We got a taxi reasonably cheap there and back from our hotel in Kowloon and it was very easy as we didnt have to wait in any queues for buses or trains. You need to be careful of taxi drivers as they will try to charge you double the toll price. Check with your hotel how much this is before getting a taxi. We had been previously warned and our taxi driver was trying to charge us twice the toll amount and we asked him why this was and he backed down and played dumb. in the end we didn't have to pay twice the toll.
Another way to get to...

Disney Hong Kong Style
Advantages: Quiet
Disadvantages: Not very big
...Hong Kong Disneyland is situated on Lantau Island where it was built on reclaimed land. It was opened in 2005 and covers approximately 100 acres though expansion plans are in the pipeline this is the smallest of the Disneyland resorts. It is very easy to get to from Hong Kong as the MTR runs there with the last leg of the journey from Sunny Bay station being on a Disney themed train with Mickey windows and hand pull also in the shape of Mickeys head which the children loved.
It is laid out like most Disney parks you enter and arrived first at the
Main Street USA
Attractions here are the Hong Kong Disneyland railroad which can take you a tour round the park with one stop in Fantasyland.
Main Street vehicles that tour up and down Main St

Great experience to see the 'real' Hong Kong
Advantages: Local culture
Disadvantages: Beds are 'hard' to get used to
...Stayed here in February 2008 before embarking on a cruise to Vietnam and China. If you want to experience a more authentic Hong Kong I would highly recommend it although it does come as a bit of a shock at first. I wouldn't say that this hotel is really in a tourist area at all although I loved it precisely for that reason. It is very easy to get to using the underground system (Prince Edward station is the closest) and is within easy walking distance of all of the Kowloon markets which are a must see. The hotel itself is clean and well laid out. The room had a king bed with a small table and chair. The room including the bathroom was clean and had nice furnishings. The most important thing to be aware of is the bed. The mattress is incredibly firm and although it is possible to sleep on it ther is little if any mor cushioning than...

Hong Kong, Hell or Paradise
Advantages: Fantastic night life. Luxury hotels Great food
Disadvantages: Pollution Traffic jams. Frenetic and tiring
...Over the last 20 years or so I have visited Hong Kong five times and believe it or not I still cannot make up my mind
whether it is like entering paradise or hell. Equally I have to admit I hate the place during the day when it seems so grey and the people are just like like ants scampering around whilst loving it at night when it seems to me to be visually one of the most colourful and exciting spots on earth.
On the plus side this Asian dynamo, once called " A Barren Rock",is ever adaptable and pragmatic. Witness,eg, its smooth transition from British colony to its SAR identity. Then last year Hong Kong managed to attract some 10.7 million tourists who spent an estimated HK$1.53 billion- so it really must have a lot going for it.
It has some of the finest and most luxurious hotels in the world, wonderful places like the Grand...
