...SACRAMENTO HOSTEL I stayed here during October 2000 and was delighted by the location, the rooms and the price! For about £10 a night I stayed in a private room of this converted 1885 mansion. SACRAMENTO - THE TOWN Sacramento is the State Capital of California, with plenty of attractions, including: * Sacramento old-town beside Sacramento River * Indian Museum * Sutter's Fort * the California State Railroad Museum * Shopping * Also very near Gold-Rush towns and Lake Tahoe (mainly a ski-ing resort) It is much more peaceful than San Francisco, yet it takes only 3 hours by Greyhound to travel between the two. ...This hostel is great value considering its central location, just off Times Square and Fifth Avenue. There is a really friendly atmosphere at this fairly international hostel, where even a private double room is only 75 dollars, and a bed in a dormitory style room is around 20 dollars. The location is perfect, and the staff who are friendly and efficient are happy to provide advice (or leaflets), and it is just round the corner from the central tourist arcade where you can get information about just about everything going on in the city. I can't see any reason not to stay in this hostel - except that it books up fairly quickly!... Read review

...As my status says I am currently busy planning a fantastic travelling experience. A friend that recently did the same kind of experience recommended this site to me. My girlfriend and myself went off making our plans and started using this site extensively. Signing up to the site was simple and only needed basic information about you, which included a contact number, address and email address. On the sites homepage it boosts 17,000 hostels in 168 countries so it is more then likely that you will be able to find a hostel in the place that you want to travel to. The homepage also gives you links to useful information if you are planning a travelling adventure like how to make your pounds reach as far as possible, tips for which injections you need for the locations you are visiting, a free pocket guide for any city that you are staying... ...This hostel is now located on Schraider Blvd just off Hollywood Blvd, it is a few minutes walk to Hollywood and highland entertianment complex and subway station which contains Cinemas shops and restaurants along with some of the other hollywood attractions like the wax museum. I stayed there this summer for 8 nights and I had a great time. It costs $20 a night for a bed in a dorm room, which each have there own en-suite bathroom so no communial showers. It has pay phones, vending machines and Internet access in the downstairs lounge and in the up stairs lounge/bar is a large screen tv. There is also a laundy room in the hostel for guest use. The bar is open every night and host comedy nights twice weekly with some top comedians that have appeared on Tv and most are very funny. The hostel provides some excellent activities... Read review

...I stopped in this hostel for two nights, and I have to say that I have absolutely no hesitation in recomending it. This has to be the best hostel there is. Everyone I met in the hostel said it was by far and away the best hostel they had stopped in and that is no exageration. The hostel is 4 bus stops from the Ostbahnhoff station in Berlin. It takes around 5 minutes. The buses leave outside the main station. The stop is Grunberger Street. The hostel itself has around 30 rooms, they range from single rooms to 10 bed dorms. I stopped in a 6 bed dorm which was a mixed dorm. I paid 28DM per night, thats around 9GBP. They supply the sheets for 5DM deposit, which is returnable when you leave. The beds are comfy, there is a free locker for all your things and there are plenty of showers to go around for everyone. Downstairs... Read review

...I came across hostelworld whilst browsing the Internet for an affordable place to stay in Dublin on New Year's Eve given that hotel prices appeared to double for that night. I found its search facility excellent - it immediately offered me a wide range of hostels that fitted the criteria I had entered; whilst going on to display the availability of beds in that particular property. Its database apparently boasts over 10,000 hostels worldwide, so if you want to shop around first, then here's the place to do it! The descriptions of each hostel were complete and helpful, offering information on the facilities provided by each, plus some background history and each hostel's policies regarding smoking, curfew etc. which was especially helpful to us when choosing. ...This hostel is very central, looking out on the British Museum in Bloomsbury, only minutes away from Oxford Street, Soho, Covent Garden, Trafalgar Square - virtually the whole of central London on your doorstep, and all for the cheapest price going. It is located on Montague Street, and when I stayed there, 1998, it was about £15 per night or £75 per week. By comparison, the YHA hostel near Oxford Circus (the only other really super-central hostel in London) was £22 per night, with no weekly rate. The tradeoff for the low price and central location is typical of London: the hostel is pretty crowded, with dorm rooms crammed with bunkbeds; and the building rather delapidated and worse-for-wear. However, if you can overlook these things and get used to living in very close quarters, it's great. But then, you have to be hardy to endure... Read review

...I used this hostel for one night in Amsterdam as it was my first stop. The reason I chose this hostel is because it said it was for individual travellers only so I figured it would be a good starting point for meeting people. However when I got to the hostel the people behind the desk where checking in groups of 5 and six people together. So from the start it didn't live up to expectations. To get to the hostel you take either tram 4 or tram 9 two stops to Muntplein. From there it is only a 4 minute walk to the hostel. Although you can walk it in around 10-15 minutes. The hostel costs NLG38 per night, that's around 11GBP. For this you get a bunk in one of 4 dorms which have 24 bunks in them, you get your sheets every day and you get your breakfast thrown in as well. The bunks are comfortable enough and everywhere is clean... Read review

...The big apple hostel, couldn't ask for anything better. Stay here and you have to eat at Blimpies next door. The hostel is just your average youth hostel with beds, showers and not much else. Right next to times Square and in the heart of all the big buildings. It is cheap $10 a night - I think, central and comfy. New York itself is a beautiful city that you have to visit at least once. I did it as a student and it was easily affordable, with the help of my student loan. I would recommend trying to book, which you can do over the internet if cannot get this place go for the bananna hostel or some thing like that. Finding the place can be slightly difficult so try and get a taxi driver that looks as though he at least remotely has a clue about the city. I went in Easter vacation and that was perfect time. got some snow, sun and rain... Read review

...the first though of having to stay at a youth hostel was great, because i had a great experience staying at a backpackers hostel which was cheap and a great place to meet great people from everywhere in the world. but then, when me and my boyfriend called up to book a week stay at the hostel, we have to pay up the entire amount through card and when we reached there, we found that they served the same breakfast everyday! oh ,....and the price was even much more expensive than a hotel!...what an anger i got. but they have facilities such as free coffee and tea during breakfast time..which is still ok. but then i decided to stay at a nearby hotel, just a few minutes walk from the earl's court underground station which offers us a double room cheaper than staying at youth hostel which we have to share a room with more than 16 people......
