God knows what was goin through that directors mind while creating. The movie is packed with complete thrills, scenes which give you chills, goosebumps and some, which make you wanna puke. Horror at the Hostel

Advantages: Gore fans will love this, there are disgusting displays of death galore.
Disadvantages: The film lacks substance, relies heavily on shock value and little else is offered.

Having heard good things and previously loved 'Cabin Fever' which Roth also directed I had been really looking forward to seeing this film, when I saw it however I felt nothing but disappointment. Many had praised the film for its gory and grotesque nature, and yes Eli Roth does indeed forefront blood and guts quite freely here but really there is very little substance to this film whatsoever. Advantages: Sex and gore if you like it

...like watching, to see whether anything still surprises me. Generally I am disappointed, sometimes I even feel guilty for watching films about extreme cruelty to people. But that is not really why I watch them, and I don't think most people who watched this film did so because they enjoy seeing people being tortured, but rather because they were curious. Hostel Endeavours

Advantages: Some nice cinematography, decent acting during tense moments
Disadvantages: boobs and gore but little substance, just too nasty

...So it now appears that Eli Roth is so lauded in cinema that he can present his films with his name before them. Such is the case with Eli Roth's Hostel. Well in case you didn't know, Roth's previous effort was the over hyped Cabin Fever. If you've seen that film than I hope you'd agree it wasn't the saviour of horror that certain websites proclaimed. Rooms are very reasonable priced and you have a choice between -single/double/triple en suite by room -dorms from 4 to 16 beds both en suite or not Booking is possible on www.clinkhostel.com and hostelworld.com - I heard it's also possible to do it via phone. Booking was quick and easy. The location close to Kings Cross is great. Within Zone 1/2 on the underground it is easily reachable. At King's Cross you can get the following tubes: Northern Line (Black), Metropolitan Line (Dark Red), Circle Line (Yellow) and Hammersmith and City Line (Pink). From the tube station to the hostel it's a 5min walk. WE found the hostel easy to find and the location quite central. The quick connection between King's Cross and Camden town was a huge plus point. Great Hostel with Free Bus service!

Advantages: Free Breakfast and bus service

...Serpent Hostel Cairns I have to admit this hostel was very good value for money, and although it is a bit far out the transport provided by the hostel made it just as convenient. Rooms: I was in a 14 bed dorm room and I have to say it was a real mess, I got the impression that a lot of people staying at this hostel where long term stays so they had stuff scattered everywhere. I understand from others that the smaller rooms with less people where very clean and tidy so perhaps I was just unfortunate. All rooms had air conditioning which is a brilliant as it is very hot and sticky in Cairns. No lockers though. Bath Room: Separate male and female bathrooms are available on every level, they were very clean and pleasant to use, with enough facilities so that queues where not a problem.
