Galaxy hot chocolate drink

Advantages: Great tasting hot chocolate made with just water.
Disadvantages: Heavy on the calories and carbs.

...I love chocolate Dairy milk or Galaxy it doesn't really matter so when I saw a hot chocolate drink made by Galaxy I just had to buy it. I think it was around 30p for one sachet. This one came from Tesco but is available at other shops too. It comes in a 28g packet and to me it looks slightly orange but I think it is supposed to be a chocolate colour. It has Galaxy written in brown writing across the middle and instant hot chocolate drink just under that in smaller writing. Think chocolate, think indulgence, think galaxy hot chocolate. The back of the packet is a darker brown colour and has the ingredients, which I don't think I need to list except the fact that there is 7.5g of real galaxy chocolate in this sachet, allergy advice, which tells you it contains milk and Soya, nutrition information. Creamy hot chocolate

Advantages: Creamy and thick
Disadvantages: Can be expensive as not many servings per jar

...I love nothing more than sitting down with a cup of hot chocolate and a good book and lately with having no sunny days hardly I thought it might be a good idea to get some in for when it's a horrible day and I'm stuck in the house! So when looking for one I came across the Galaxy Hot chocolate in the home bargains store and so thought it seemed pretty good as I love Galaxy chocolate anyway and hoped it might taste really nice! The tub: The tub is quite narrow but tall as the one I have has an extra 33% more in it. The tub has the usual Galaxy logo on it with the packaging in brown the same as the chocolate bars are. The tub is 266g in size and has all the ingredient information on the label along with the instructions on how to make the drink. Butlers Hot Chocolate Drink

Advantages: Attractive packaging, attractive price point, simple to make.
Disadvantages: Not chocolatey enough!!

...Firstly, I would like to point out that although this product comes under the category of "Cocoa (Instant)", it is not cocoa - it is Hot Chocolate! That means that it is a drink made with "real" chocolate, not with cocoa powder. I have mixed feelings about Butlers chocolates in general - I have tasted many of their products, and I love some of them, and am not so keen on others. So, it was with interest that I tried this new product. It has only just become available here in Ireland, I am not sure you can buy it in the UK as yet. First things first - the box itself is very attractive. It is a rich chocolatey brown colour with the Butlers logo in gold, and a photo of a pair of hands holding a teacup with a delicious looking chocolate drink in the cup, and a piece of the chocolate that you find inside dropping into the drink...

Twinings Swiss hot chocolate drink, a delicious luxury beverage

Advantages: High quality, deliscious chocolatety drink with added vitamins and minerals
Disadvantages: Slightly more expensive than rivals

...Twinings Swiss chocolate drink is a hot chocolate powder drink made by hating up milk on the hob or in the microwave and the instructions say 'pour over' 3-4 heaped teaspoons of chocolate powder, although I find it works just as well to stir in the powder. The result is a delicious hot chocolate that rivals some of the hot chocolate I have recently had in cafes. The drink is smooth and rich (particularly when you use 5 teaspoons of powder), and goes well with cake and biscuits or as an evening beverage. I am very fussy with my hot chocolate and won't drink and of the 'instant' drinks made with water. I have tried galaxy and Green & Blacks Organic (which I found too bitter), but remained loyal to Cadbury Drinking chocolate for hot milk until I tried the Twinings. ...Many of you who have read some of my opinions will know that I have mentioned several times that I don’t like hot chocolate. I have a theory that no hot chocolate drinks taste of actual chocolate and they taste so artificial it isn’t even funny. So what happened to me last night surprised me to say the least. Aero Minty hot chocolate!

Advantages: GOREGOUS!! Easy to make, frothy and yummy!
Disadvantages: None hehe!

...!!!! The drink itself is soooo delicious!!!!! Its creamy and does actually have a huge frothy head on top which is just like aero!!! Unlike most hot chocolates which you get in a tub like this, its very easy to get the right amount without the drink been watery with no taste. The drink doesn't need extra sugar adding to it, and even when made with just water (sometimes I make hot chocolate with milk instead) the drink is sooo milky and smooth. I wouldn't recommend the drink to people who don't like sweet things, as the drink is very very sweet, but it is hot chocolate afterall!!!!!! It leaves a yummy minty taste after you've drank it and makes your insides warm!! As you might be able to tell I love this drink! ...I recently got into drinking hot chocolate and having loved the Aero one thought I would give this a go! Its pretty simple to make- just 4 heaped teaspoons of powder into hot water then give it a stir. So what do I think? Well quite frankly i'm totally flawed as to how people are giving this so many stars!! The Aeros one is lovely and bubbly once you have stirred it whereas this is not at all. The flavour is is very weak as well, not what I would call hot chocolate at all in fact! This drink for me is really just a hot sweet drink, almost verging on being more like a malted milk drink. So if like me a chocolate addict and you do go ahead and buy this I would say chuck 5 heaped teaspoons in as this does improve it but it still is not as good as some of the other hot chocolate drinks available. Chocolate not so lovely?

The tub looks very nice and stands out extremely well on super market shelves so it should be extremely easy to find. Now! Time to make the hot chocolate drink.... How to prepare the beverage *********************** Now it is very simple to make hot chocolate. Add 4 heaped teaspoonful's of Galaxy hot chocolate into a mug and add water and stir... That's it! Easy. I am not a fan of a hot chocolate without fresh milk in it. I always add half water and half heated milk. There is dry milk in this product but it is never the same! The powder mixed pretty quickly, there were a few lumps while stirring but they were easily broken up with a Bash with a spoon! Aero Instant bubbly hot chocolate drink. 288g jar

Advantages: Can be made as strong or as weak as you'd like it to be
Disadvantages: Doesn't last long if you have friends over as they all want some

...Aero instant bubbly hot chocolate drink is made by Nestle. I have to confess that i'm not normally a fan of hot chocolate so would never have tried this if not for a friend who made me one after a night on the town. I tried it and am now the biggest fan of Aero hot chocolate...it is delicious! I went out the next day and bought a Jar that will make upto 12 servings. This is great as you can make it as strong or as weak as you'd like. They suggest on the jar that you place 4 heaped teaspoons into a mug, I find this a little strong so i only use 3 teaspoons which means i'll get a few extra servings from the jar. The flavour is quite subtle and not too strong. I love milk chocolate and this is definately the taste i get from this hot chocolate, there is none of the bitterness of dark chocolate. Creamy malted hot chocolate

Advantages: Dairy free, malted, tasty
Disadvantages: More hassle than instant

...with a lid that pushes down to seal (not a screw top), rather like a scaled up tub of cocoa powder. The main problem that I have with this type of lid is that once you've broken the seal, it can be very easy to tug too hard on the lid and spray the contents everywhere. And breaking the foil seal has similar spray-everywhere issues. The serving size The pack says that you should use 4-5 heaped teaspoons (20g), which is rather more than many other hot chocolate varieties - I'm used to needing 3 teaspoons of hot chocolate - I think the sugar must pad it out quite a bit. I do find that 2-3 is often plenty for a tasty drink and 4-5 is far too sweet for me. How well does it mix? I've had a bit of a problem with some hot chocolate varieties that the powder tends to clump and never mixes in. This wasn't a problem for this particular type...
