Fancy a Hot Date

Advantages: Lots of add-ons to the existing game, more freedom with social interations, can provide hours of entertainment before boredom sinks in
Disadvantages: takes up a heck of a lot of hard drive space, a little tricky to navigate some parts, not good for your social life!

...This year for Christmas, I purchased the new Sims PC game, "Hot Date," for my daughter. Meredyth is a lover of all the Sims games and can play them for hours at a time. This one looked quite interesting on the Amazon site, so I ordered it for her as soon as it was available. I must admit that it has been one of her very favorite gifts - once we worked out how to install, that is. All of the other Sims games have been relatively easy to install. Not the case with this one, I'm afraid. Each time we would reach a certain point during the download (at 95% installation), it would stop and say that we had to install another disk that was nowhere to be found and one that neither Jon, Meredyth, nor I had ever heard of. Meredyth and Jon both attempted to contact Technical Support on the Sims website, only to be disappointed each time...

...This is a nice little addition to the Sims selection, it gives you hours, days, even months of fun!!! If you thought that The Sims was a great game, then just wait till you getta hold of the Hot Date Expansion Pack! I guarantee that you won't be dissappointed. You must already own the sims to play and have 600MB free hard drive space and 64MB RAM to play this expansion pack. The game is aimed at +15yrs old, so it isn't really ideal for the kids, It can get a bit heated at times (I think it's funny more than rude!). Hot Comedy!

Advantages: Funny, big names, Simon Pegg was great
Disadvantages: Bit gory in parts

...I do enjoy a good comedy film, so how Hot Fuzz has passed me by so far is a bit of a mystery to me. I loved Simon Pegg's feature film "Run Fat Boy Run" and since I have seen that, lots of people have told me that I would definitely enjoy Hot Fuzz too. So when I went to stay at my parents for a week and they suggested we watch a film, I spotted Hot Fuzz on the shelf and immediately decided that was the film of choice. My family do enjoy a comedy film, and this film certainly didn't disappoint for us, so much so we went out and bought it after seeing it! The plastic is waterproof too so good news for wet hands! This product has a picture of a lady with red clumpy cream on her face with eyes covered by leaves. She must have put about 3 packs on by the looks of it! The packet reads "Anti stress" - is that possible? A face pack can take away stress?? Oh well, its mainly the heat I am after as I want a hot product to take out all the grime in my skin. The 15g packet reads "Red Hot Earth for normal, oily and T-Zone skin - Deep Pore Cleansing". Now I don't know what on earth T-Zone is but I love the sound of the hot earth, and on the back the product is described as "Sexy Natural Skincare Sauna". What? Sounds like it will do...

...I am a big fan of The Sims and for anyone who is unsure what it is then this bit is for you. Basically The Sims is a game where you get to control these peoples lives, you get the option to choose a ready made family or make your own. You have to get them a house, a job and make friends. You have to buy objects to put in the house to enable them to be happy and live properly. I can't remember now how much my copy was, but the book is available from Amazon used or new from only 1p (plus £2.75 p&p). The book was first published in 1994, and then reprinted in 1999. ...Sims hot date can be summed up in one word "Fantastic". Where to start, think of your life and put it on the computer is a good thing. The general idea of the Sims is to make a neighbourhood full of friendly (or in some cases not so friendly) family's where they interract, climb the corprate ladder and make babies. ...first feature? Well, yes and no. The great thing about their debut was that it could work as a parody and an exemplar of the zombie genre. But despite being written by two people that clearly know and love action movies, "Hot Fuzz" only works as a parody. The central conceit of the big city cop being sent out to the sticks could come from any number of actioners. But the situations he finds himself in and the excess of outlandish characters makes the world of the film more difficult to buy into. Towards the end we discover the ludicrous reasons behind the deaths, unspooling at a rate of knots. That's when the film becomes truly absurd and the scene is set for the big action movie pastiche.
