Jolly Carlton Hotel - Amsterdam
Advantages: Friendly staff, modern decor, lots of handy facilities, great location
Disadvantages: Rooms are a bit on the small side and cramped
...A couple of weekends ago I went to Amsterdam with my boyfriend. We wanted to find a hotel which was close to the centre so it was easy to get around, but that wasn't too expensive (if we could help it!)
I went on lastminute.com and I saw a deal for one of the 'secret hotels'. This means that you don't know which hotel you will be staying at, but that you will get it at a discounted price. It told us the rough location (around Rembrant Square), the room and hotel facilities and the star rating. You find out which hotel you are staying at as soon as you have made the booking. We thought it would be quite exciting to get one of the 'secret hotel' deals, it was in the right location for us and sounded like it had everything we needed so we went ahead and booked it for the price of £287 for three nights. The deal was also that we would get...

Rho Hotel Amsterdam
Advantages: Great location, good price
Disadvantages: None at the price!
...OK so there is another review, I know. Here's mine.
The hotel is very conveniently located about a 10 minute walk from Amsterdam CS (central station), just off the SE corner of Dam Square. Just look up as you enter the square - you cannot miss the Rho sign.
Our room was on the second floor and as a result somewhat noisy at night. (It was locals too, not tourists, making the noise!!)
Our friends were on the top floor and had a much nicer and quieter room. Try to get top floor when you check in!
The rooms were clean and light. Of reasonable size (our friends room was actually very large) and really quite comfortable.
The staff were very friendly and of course (this being The Netherlands) English was spoken perfectly.
The hotel is surprisingly large and is always busy especially at breakfast. The breakfast rooms are large...

21st Amsterdam Hotel
Advantages: Mediocre location, cheap
Disadvantages: Could be cleaner, no towel!
...I went on holiday recently with a bunch of lads to celebrate our 21st Birthday....what we did in Amsterdam though for that is a different story xD
However on browsing the internet we originally settled on a hotel which was said to be literally 1 minute walk away from the city centre. However due to some stairs being described as the 'Stairs of Death'
We decided to upgrade to a 2* Hotel instead!
On arrival in Amsterdam, we found a booth at the train station where you typed in the address of your hotel, and it located it for you and printed it along with tram lines and numbers to get,
So we printed and thought with our luggage, oh that doesn't look far, we'll walk there. And truth be told, it was only what 20 minutes walk away from the centre. Maybe a bit more depending on your walking pace. But with the Luggage it took...

HOTEL MISC AMSTERDAM
Advantages: Excellent service, hospitality and room! Complementory soft drinks and breakfast!
Disadvantages: None!
...If you are ever considering a short break in Amsterdam I would highly recommend staying at Hotel MISC. My girlfriend and I stayed here in March for 4 nights and it was excellent!
It is a 2 star hotel but I prefer this to a number of 4/5 star hotels I have stayed in. It is very homely and the owners Rachel and Pepijn are very accomadating and friendly. It was my birthday on one of the days we were there and Pepijn put a bottle of lovely sparkling wine outside our door as a surprise!
When you book with hotel MISC they offer a taxi service that picks you up from Schipol airport and takes you to the hotel for 37.50EUR. This is a fixed price and cheaper than trying to get a taxi outside the airport. The taxi was an immaculate mercedes driven by a very friendly and helpful dutch guy.
The hotel is located next to the Nieumarkt...

Victoria Hotel, Amsterdam
Advantages: Close to Centraal Station, good deals online
Disadvantages: Thin walls, expensive extras
...Having read several bad reviews of the Victoria Hotel, Amsterdam, I thought I'd better add my 2 pence worth.
I recently spent two nights here after finding a bargain last minute deal on the internet.
PROS
We booked a triple room, which was two twin beds and a third camp bed (added to the room after we arrived). The beds were comfy, and the room and ensuite were both spotless.
The staff were exceptionally helpful and polite - one even recommended a restaurant which served vegetarian food.
The swimming pool is free for guests to use, although we didn't.
Despite being directly opposite the station, the rooms were lovely and quiet at night.
Room service is excellent, and the food is delicious!!
CONS
The walls were a bit thin - you could hear voices and televisions late at night but this was only a problem on the first night...

Bellevue Hotel Amsterdam - A1 property
Advantages: Located close to train station
Disadvantages: None that I could see
...I have redone this review to make it a bit better. I am new to all this so I hope it is helpful --- HERE GOES !!!
*************LOCATION**********
The location is brilliant and near to the train station. I have stayed in many hotels in my time as I work in the travel industry and would be very critical, but I have to admit that this hotel is very reasonably priced for its location. It is right next door to the hotel is the oldest pub in Amsterdam called the Café Karpershoek, this unique pub is part of the Bellevue Hotel.
************ROOMS**********
Our room was of a very good standard and even came complete with flat screen tv and beautifully clean and crisp linen. The bathroom had an intergrated bath and shower. Our room also had cable TV, radio, telephone, data port, light blocking curtains and hair dryer (which was just ok...

Probably my favourite Amsterdam hotel
Advantages: Great location, lovely staff
Disadvantages: Stairs, small rooms
...I've been to Amsterdam several times and have had different degrees of luck with the various hotels I've sampled there. The Nadia is the nicest hotel I've stayed in in the city. I booked it after reading good reviews on the internet. It is fantastic value for money, cosy, friendly and centrally located. It is very, very similar to the Hotel Di-Ann (which I have also reviewd on this website), but marginally more expensive. Like the Di-Ann, the steep stairs and tiny rooms mean this hotel is not suitable for young children or those with mobility difficulties.
The rooms are tiny (like cabins) but have everything you need. The staff are the nicest people you could hope to meet and nothing was to much trouble for them. As for the stairs.....they are overwhelming when you first open the front door and see the receptionist peering down...

Stunning Hotel
Advantages: Modern room features. Excellent food and drink. Fantastic Service
Disadvantages: Can't think of any!
...This Hotel is the perfect place for any tourist wishing to explore the width and breadth of amsterdam to stay. I caught the plane to Amsterdam airport then a short 10minute train ride to Amsterdam central station. I was expecting a hefty walk but discovered it is literally about 7mins walk. It is easy to find as it is located on the same street as a distinctive church with a dome shaped roof so you can look for that amongst the other buildings or look for this landmark on a map.
On arrival we were politely greeted by all the staff and offered a chocolate. A concierge came up and gave us some leaflets and maps about the city and offered us advice on where to get a good meal and drinks without walking far. The lobby area is perfection and very modern with a beautiful fireplace.
Rooms were easy to find and there is 3 lifts so no...

BILDERBERG HOTEL JAN LUYKEN, AMSTERDAM - A1 !!!
Advantages: Location
Disadvantages: None that I could see
...Hi, I work in the Travel Industry, so thought that it would be nice to pass on my knowledge on certain places. I really do hope you find this review helpful. Please do leave a rating at the end of the review.
Ok, lets start.
**********LOCATION**********
The Bilderberg Hotel Jan Luyken is very good for those who like a more cultural aspect. It is located near the museums and is in the South neighborhood in Amsterdam. This area is the heart of cultural Amsterdam, all the important museums are basically a stone's throw away. Opposite the hotel you will find the Rijks museum and the Van Gogh Museum and virtually on the doorstep are the famous P.C. Hooftstraat, the Vondelpark and the Leidseplein with its cosy cafés, trendy bars, theatres and cinemas. As if thats not enough only a few minutes' walk away are the Concertgebouw and the Van...

Cheap Cheerful Hotel D'Amsterdam
Advantages: Near to everything
Disadvantages: Rooms are a bit small
...When my friend and I first arrived in Amsterdam at the central station, we walked to our hotel after stopping off in a shop or so. We found Hotel D'Amsterdam reasonably easily and it was a pleasant surprise to realise the hotel was about 5 minutes walk from the centre of Amsterdam itself. We never needed to rent bikes or anything because we were within walking distance of anything.
My friend and I paid £80 each for a shared room, for 3 nights in Amsterdam. This included breakfast each morning, a TV with about 30 different channels, an en suite bathroom, a fan (which was a life saver because this was during the heatwave in June), a kettle with various teas and coffees and also a fridge (also a lifesaver which we filled with drinks).
We were both surprised with all the stuff we got and although the breakfast was rather basic, it...
