Lounging Around Tossa Beach

Advantages: All inclusive, relatively inexpensive
Disadvantages: Doesn't really give a good tatse of local cuisine

...Having booked a week's holiday to go to America with some friends at the end of July, we ended up giving up due to the cost of the flights. So having booked the week off it seemed a shame to waste it and so Jenny booked the same week and we started looking for a late deal on lastminute.com. It was an all inclusive holiday to Tossa De Mar on the Costa Brava for £528 for both of us for 3 nights. The hotel, which was meant to be allocation on arrival turned out to be the Tossa Beach Hotel. This price included the flights, transfers and all inclusive accommodation, which during peak season was a bit of a bargain. Tossa de Mar.. Beautiful Area, Cat Litter Beach!

Advantages: Picturesque, Hot!
Disadvantages: Quiet!

...I got back from a week in Tossa De Mar on Saturday night, it was my first visit to the area so I wasn?t altogether sure of what it would be like there, or what to expect from the holiday. The night we arrived (at about 2am) we found a bar to have a drink in, unfortunately it wasn?t serving food (just ice cream) which was a pain as we were all starving, and couldn?t seem to find anywhere to buy some food. So my first piece of advice is to make sure you have enough to eat before arriving if you?re arriving at a silly time at night. My first impressions of the resort were that it was picturesque but seemed very quiet and as the holiday went on, I discovered that this was correct. As a 26 year old, I?ve been more used to going out and getting rather tipsy (ok, I mean drunk but I didn?t want to let my Ciao halo slip too far down...

Am I Or Am I Not Snob ?

Advantages: Very cheap stay.
Disadvantages: Other guests, bland food and no space.

...the noise. I loved Tossa De mar itself and I would visit again, but as for the hotel I don't think I will be returning to it or any all inclusive resort for that matter as if feel we would not get our moneys worth. I feel this is a family hotel or even better suited to stag and hen parties, if you are a couple looking for a relaxing break with nice food and a few quite drinks then this place is a definite no no....

Light's Out & Off To Bed At Midnight...........

Advantages: Nice and cheap, ideal for families with small kids.......
Disadvantages: The food, the staff, the other guests basically everything......

...Here I am going to review a recent trip me and my husband took to Tossa de Mar on the Costa Brava. Our hotel was less than impressive but for the 478.00 paid we got return flights, return transfers and a seven night stay in a four star all inclusive hotel, so we were not expecting much. We were very impressed for the money we paid as it was only 239.00 each, you cannot even get a mini break in the UK for that money. TRANSFERS At Barcelona air port we collected our transfer and made the two and half our journey to Tossa de mar. The trip was rather daunting as this bus hurtled up very narrow roads that consisted of sheer cliff edge drops on the right hand side. Advantages: Sun Sand Sea and sangria what more can you want

Very Good Value For Money Lloret De Mar

Advantages: Big pool,Good Drink,nice hotel,pleasant staff,excellent value for money
Disadvantages: Awful Food

...We stayed here for 6 nights in Febuary of this year (2008) and found it to be very good value for money, and the weather was surprisingly good which was an added bonus. It was a last minute cheap gettaway I had already booked the flights with Ryanair and not decided where we were going to stay exactly, and then we decided to try lloret. We chose The Royal Beach because it was very resonably priced (£208 for 6 nights all - inclusive for two people) and it had fairly good reviews. One mistake I did make though was I had booked the hotel and flights seperate and didn't bother with transfers we just got a taxi from Girona airport to resort, this was easy enough to do but cost 50 euros each way. I found out when we got home I could have booked a transfer both ways for about £25 so could have saved quite a bit of money there...

Excellent value for money

Advantages: good for any age range
Disadvantages: none for me

...luggage allowance (10kg) but can only have 1 hand luggage bag that has to be within specific measurements and if you want to take a 15kg suitcase, you had to pay £10.00 per suitcase. Location Even though we went at the beginning of April, there were plenty of shops, bars, cafes and restaurants open although they did close at 7pm. The centre of Tossa de Mar is stunning. Little streets full of clothes shops, ice cream parlours, sports shops etc so there is something for everybody. The hotel was situated only a 5 min walk away from the beach and the centre with the Bus Station being a 10 min walk away. The beach could have been better. Not too bad to walk on away from the sea but the closer you got, the shingle got worse, even into the sea, so i recommend wearing a pair of beach shoes. You can also walk round the castle which offer stunning...

Family Holiday? Head for the Avenida Park!

Advantages: Family only, half board offered
Disadvantages: Ciggarette butts round the pool, Hard to get booked unless booking early

...The Avenida Park Hotel in Salou in the Costa Dorada is part of the Golden Hotel chain which seems to have a few hotels doted about the Costa Dorada. We chose to stay here as it was classed as a Thomson Superfamily hotel and Thomson were the only British company to use it. As it transpires from information from friends who have visited here and from the Dutch guests who arrived it is also a Dutch company who use it although Thomson have most of the run of the hotel. The Avendia Park is situated about a 5 minute walk from the main street and about 10 minutes away from the beach. It's close to these places but ideally situated as you don't get much noise. The hotel has 8 floors. The reception area and the outside were very clean and looked very posh. The floor was a marble type floor and could be very slippy if you are not careful...

Paradis Park Hotel - Definitely NOT paradise!!!!

...It was pure chance that we stayed at the Paradis Park Hotel in Pineda De Mar. Whilst looking for a cheap and cheerful last minute deal to get some sun I spotted a package to the Calella Palace Hotel through Teletext holidays online. After a bit of research the decision was made to book it, however, the dates we wanted weren't available. We were offered an allocation on arrival for the same price, or for an extra £45 each we could have an alternative named hotel of the same rating. Being unadventurous I opted for the latter and was given the choice of the Alexis Hotel (I had previously read reviews all of which were bad) and the Paradis Park Hotel. Advantages: length of tracks, up-beat rythm
Disadvantages: can be distressing if not in the mood!

...know how psytrance is hard to describe. But basically every song has a theme of its own that you can easily recognise and differentiate, but then when you think about it, after having listened to the whole album you just think they're all the same. Although I do favour the one where they mention "the face of Homer Simpson" (as being the most popular image people use for X-pills). Pumping bass beats and joyful enlightening themes make the tracks perfect for partying and having a good time, but as I mentioned earlier on, it isnt the best album to listen to if you're not in the mood for some serious raving. I tried working with it on once and my pencil ended up in the bin and some of my hair got pulled out in the process, so I would not advise you to reiterate that stupid act of listening to Avenida de Belgica if you need to concentrate...
