Manchester Britannia Airport Hotel
Review of Britannia Airport Hotel, Manchester by  Lurdle

Advantages: free parking
Disadvantages: see review

.... This is obviously an issue of health and safety. I can understand that economic issues might mean that priorities have to be set and a carpet might not be one of them, but overall this hotel shows itself not only as worn and shabby (which could be excused) but is downright filthy. The grime and dirt on the stairwell and at the bottom of the stair spindles is worth a photo or two. The light coloured couch and armchairs in the bar are disgusting, with dark stains running down from the headrests. The website may advertise "Britannia for Value" but our money is still worth customer service, courtesy and cleanliness. This hotel has all the attributes of Fawlty Towers. We might have found the humour to appreciate this if we had faced someone with the panache of Basil Fawlty, instead of the truculent person in charge we encountered that night. Needless... Britannia Stockport - a good budget stopover
Review of Britannia Hotel, Stockport by  tishnumf

Advantages: Cheap, spacious, good location
Disadvantages: Old fashioned decor, poor service on a few occasions

...My husband and I spent last weekend in Manchester visiting friends and family, and chose Britannia Stockport Hotel as our base for the weekend. The hotel is situated on Dialstone Lane in Offerton, Stockport, and is about 5 minutes away from the M60 ringroad around Manchester. I had previously read several reviews of this hotel on other websites suggesting that the hotel was terrible – dirty rooms, poor service etc. However we decided to give it a try as it was an ideal location for us and for less than £90 for three nights for both of us the price was unbeatable. I originally found information about the hotel by searching for hotels in Stockport on www.lastminute.com, which states that the hotel is 3*, and that the “bedrooms are dated but clean and are also currently being refurbished.” ***BOOKING I made my booking through... I stayed in the worst hotel in Britain!
Review of Britannia Airport Hotel, Manchester by  micksheff

Advantages: Good Location, Cheap
Disadvantages: So Many - See Review

...It's official I have stayed in Britain's worst hotel, or at least according to a recent survey I have. A survey undertaken by the Internet based Travel Company, tripadvisor.com found three hotels within the Britannia group of hotels within its top ten list of the worst hotels to stay in the UK. At the very top of this poll was the Britannia Manchester Airport hotel where I had the "pleasure" of staying last October. We chose this particular hotel because the literature promised "a hassle free start to your holiday." A search through various websites for cheap hotels around Manchester Airport brought up the details of this place at a total cost of £83 for three people sharing the same room. This price was without breakfast, which was not a problem since we were leaving before breakfast would be served anyhow. More importantly... Read review

Fantastic Building - Awful Hotel
Review of Britannia Hotel Manchester, Manchester by  strow

Advantages: Fantastic architure and history to this Grade II listed building
Disadvantages: Now contains a cheap and noisy hotel

...This review is mainly about the hotel building and it's local amenities (there are some other reviews on here detailing visitors experiences). If you are looking for affordable accommodation in a perfect location in Manchester City Centre, then the Britannia Hotel in Manchester cit centre seems to fit the bill. Unfortunately however, the rooms, atmosphere and general politeness of staff are somewhat lacking. I would recommend staying somwehere else, such as the Portland Thistle hotel next door, or the Piccadilly Gardens hotel (a short walk away). The Britannia does seem to attract most of the stag do's in town and irish football fans when Manchester United are playing at home. As beer on the hotel premises is so cheap, the hotel is very noisy at weekends into the early hours and there can be occasional bouts of trouble (the hotel has... Read review

Birmingham Britannia Hotel - Average
Review of Britannia Hotel, Birmingham by  claire.wizzbiz

Advantages: central location, reasonable room size
Disadvantages: dated furniture, noisy generator, rubbish towels

...I stayed at this hotel for work purposes on Monday 3rd March in a single room on the sixth floor. We paid £70 B&B. My initial reaction was to be extremely negative about this hotel, however, on reflection i think it is important to point out some of its good points. I would not say it was an enjoyable experience, however, it was adequate and i've had worse! On the plus side - This is a proper city centre hotel - right in the centre of town, close to shops. If you are visiting Birmingham to shop, this is perfect. The kettle and toilet were clean, which is always a good start! The member of staff who booked me in was pleasant and helpful. There was an error with our booking, we had 4 rooms booked, but only two of us were on the list. She gave me the list to check through - which had other guest's names and personal details... Britannia Hampstead Hotel, London
Review of Britannia Hampstead Hotel, London by  missgiggles22

Advantages: none!
Disadvantages: everything!

...I stayed at this hotel when I went to London for a two night stay, it was a travel package which included coach travel down, we didn't know where we were staying until we got there and believe me if I had have known I wouldn't have gone. The outside looked okay and the lobby didn't look too bad either but then we went in our room, it was very dark and dull and very dated, it was fairly clean though. The toilet and shower were seperate the toilet needed updating also, there was tiles in it and they were cracked and looked as if they had been stuck on by somone who didn't know what they were doing. There was no bath just a stand alone shower squashed into a cupboard that was hidden with a door. The food- The travel package included breakfast and tea, there wasn't much choice, if your fussy your stuffed basically, and it was all cold... Read review

Rule Britannia?
Review of Britannia Hotel, Birmingham by  scuba_angel

Advantages: newly refurbed room, brilliant bath and shower, price
Disadvantages: some areas still quite tatty

...Well my second weekend in Brumopolis passed with little excitement, which was something of a relief. The hotel on this occasion was booked through laterooms.com (see previous review) and was the Britannia in the city centre, it cost me £47 for a double room bed only, a friend also staying the same night paid £42 for a single. Arriving at the train station my previous visits 'beer compass' directions sent me for a walk around the outside of the train station but from the exit through the shopping centre it is literally a walk of a minute at most (note to self shoving through groups of football fans is a bad idea). But for a city centre hotel you cant get much more central than this one. The hotel itself has the entry through Union Passage just off the main street. The revolving door is quite heavy but there is a wider... Read review

The hotel from hell
Review of Britannia Hotel Manchester, Manchester by  Shoka

Advantages: Central Location
Disadvantages: Awful room, dirty breakfast area including cutlery, poor staff, noisey

...I had the misfortune to stay at the Britannia Hotel during september of last year. Having stayed in a fair few hotels in my time I was gobsmacked by the appaling way it was run and feel I would like to review the hotel to warn any potential customers of the pitfalls. My experience I ended up at the Britannia as the company I work for was running groups regionally and the agency we work with selected the Britannia for its reasonable rates and central location. Because I was to spend my evening watching the focus groups I thought why not book a room in this place too. I dearly wish I'd had more sense and gone to the lovely Malmaison done the road. But you can always say that with hindsite. From the road the Britannia looks pretty good. Its a large stone clad old building, the sort of building you'd look at Architectually... Read review

Noisy, Smelly, Tatty Hotel Stuck In The 1970's
Review of Britannia Country House Hotel, Manchester by  johnny040676

Advantages: Close To Manchester Airport
Disadvantages: Too Many To List, Needs A refurb, Needs A Good Clean, Noisy

...BACKGROUND ******************* Ahh the Britannia Country House Hotel, a couple of miles from Manchester airport, the perfect place to stay the night before jeting off on our honeymoon, thought my new wife and I in August 2006. We booked online and only paid £64 for a double room with champagne on arrival, and it looked so modern and the name country house just added to the picture in our heads what a perfect start to our honeymoon. How wrong can you get. ON ARRIVAL AND CHECK IN ********************************** We arrived on a Saturday afternoon having got married on the Thursday and stayed a couple of nights at the hotel we had got married in, and as we parked on the large car park to the front and walked up to the front we noticed there was a wedding going on and they were having some photo's taken outside, the exterior... Britannia Rules.....I don't think so.
Review of Britannia Birmingham by  kazziebears

Advantages: Convenient for shopping, relatively cheap...and Oh the breakfasts!!
Disadvantages: The lack of air con, the decor, the lack of communication between staff.

...by all members of the Brum Four and despite the disappointment in the accommodation a brill time was had by one and all. Ok…. onto the op in question!! The Britannia Hotel, Birmingham…as if you didn’t know! I don’t frequent hotels as a rule, you might know that by some of the comments I have left after ops by other members who do stay in them on a regular basis, I do so enjoy reading about them, and so I had no expectations of what this place was going to be like. Of course I hoped that it would be fantastic but at the end of the day. The hotel wasn’t the real reason for me heading so far North! Moose and I travelled up to Brum together, by car and train (there’ll be more about that in my ‘Meet’ op!) and it was a long and arduous journey. We stepped off the train at More Street station, extremely knackered and more than a little... Read review
