Cala Bona - Tip-Top..!!

Advantages: Close amenities/Friendly locals/Nightlife/Shopping/Food to suit all
Disadvantages: quiet at times and building construction going on as the area is seeing more touism

...Well lets begin, about 4 years ago now I went on holiday to this fantastic little resort, not through choice mind you. You see my friend and myself decided to pack up our bags, pick a cheap flight off the teletext and jet off to 'sunny Spain' - (Majorca or as the locals spell it Mallorca) for a week........ When we arrived in Palma airport, we were directed to the Rep as our holiday was an allocations on arrivial. Imagine our surprise when the Rep directed an ELDERLY couple to Magaluf and us to a place called 'Cala Bona'??!? After spending our first day finding our way about we actually found it to be very pleasant, with a beautiful harbour and the locals were so friendly. The beach was a beautiful cove of rocks which you could walk out on and made you feel very far out from the land. That night we decided to go to a little...

Cala Bona - Sun Sand and tranquility

Advantages: Sun, Sand, and just about everything else you could possibly wish for
Disadvantages: Each resort has it's own features so pic the resort thats best for you

...It's 8.30am and you wake up to the smell of fresh baked bread, you open the balcony doors and step out just as the sun starts to rise above the harbour. Fisherman prepair there boats for the days trip and the locals are sat in the square just enjoying the wonderfull morning air. Where am I ? you may ask? well ive just stayed my first night in the Hotel Cala Bona In Cala Bona. If the above image has wet your apitite then you are in for a treat, Cala Bona is the type of place that just seems to move along at it's own pace - Cala Bona Time some of the locals call it, yes you do have all teh usual facilites you'd expect in any european holidays resort like cafe's and bars and even the odd night club. Most of the entertainment is hotel based but the hotels spill out on to the pavements and as you walk along the main street at night you...

Review of Cala Bona, Majorca

As the French say, Bon. Although its in Spain??

Advantages: Reasonably priced, friendly, clean
Disadvantages: Food choice at dinner is not the best

...Last year my girlfriend and I decided to go to Majorca for our holiday. We went in May, as it was slightly cheaper with the kids still in school, and booked it all through Thomson holidays. We booked a price breaker package, which basically meant we could end up in any one of three hotels on the quieter east coast, and after a two-hour flight, this was the one we ended up in. Situated on the promenade between the two popular, but quiet resorts of Cala Bona and Cala Millor on Majorca's east coast, the Bonamar is owned by the well-respected Protur group, who own several good hotels and apartment complexes on the island. The hotel itself is rated at 4 T's in the Thomson brochure, and has an official tourist rating of 3 stars, with just over 200 rooms with a small lift for access to the upper floors. The main entrance of the hotel is...

Self Catering? I think not!

Advantages: Location, gardens, peace
Disadvantages: Kitchen or rather lack of it!

...Floriana Resort, Cala Bona, Mallorca Having stayed here twice previously when 'grumpy teenager' was younger I was pleasantly surprised to see that it was still in the brochure and that we could pick up a week in October half term for less than £900.00. Location Just a few minutes walk from the delightful little harbour area of Cala Bona. The resort itself is quiet, with just a few really good restaurants set by the water and a couple of bars. The promenade leads directly to its noisier neighbour Cala Millor, but it is still a pleasant walk, very flat, clean and well kept, ideal for the less mobile. It's lined with cafes and bars all the way up, so plenty of opportunity to rest! The Beach in Cala Bona is split into small areas and is well maintained with sun beds and brollies to hire. Personally I prefer to travel to other...

La Cala Hotel

Advantages: Close to the shops
Disadvantages: In the centre of town

...This hotel is great if you want to be handy for all the local shops, It is located in the center of town, which can make it noisy depending on which side of the hotel your room is. The hotel itself had 180 rooms, every room has a balcony which either overlooks the swimming pool, or the street. When i stayed at this hotel in September 05 we had a room which overlooked the pool, and it was very quiet. On entering the hotel you will notice that it has recently been renovated, it has seperate areas within the reception area, you can sit in the large reception area and have a drink at the bar, or go into the large entertainment area, which has various artists performing on an evening, there is also a small area that is used when you want to read a paper or use the telephone, there is a reasonable sized...

Review of Invisa Hotel La Cala, Ibiza

A great place to stay to relax after a hard year

Advantages: Set in a quiet area, extremely clean, friendly staff with great food
Disadvantages: Being quiet its not for the "nightclubber"

...Hotel Alicia This review has been written after visits to the Hotel Alicia and is based on experience gained whilst booking via Portland Direct, the review is based not just on the hotel but the package experience provied through that company. The Hotel Alicia is situated on the East side of the island of Majorca in the resort of Cala Bona, Cala Bona is a small fishing village type port which still retains some of its Balaeric charm. Cala Bona is the much quieter "little sister" of Cala Millor. Cala Millor is a stroll away from the hotel and provides shops ( a couple of designer) and streets of tourist shops, as well as the usual tobacco shops and restaurants. The Facilities The Hotel has a good reception area, which at the last stay employed an English lady and English speaking locals. The reception is air...

Cala Millor Review

Advantages: Relaxed, bars, restaurants, sandy beach, water sports
Disadvantages: Easily bored after the first week

...Cala Millor is a super resort for a rest on the beach. The sea has a gentle incline and apart from the palm leaf debris regularly washing in, is a great swim for all ages. There is a super little sandwich bar right on the front near the police building on the beach who's home made rolls to order and take away local drinks, etc, make it well worth a visit. There is plenty of flat promenade to walk, bicycle hire is easy. Cala Bona is at the north end of the beach and is worth an evening stroll. The promenade offers a variety of eating oppotunities,it is not difficult to ascertain whom each facility caters for, which was a blessing. For the Brit, a visit to Stokers Bar, the leather shop and Gorans short order bar ( all next to each other at the begining of Cala Bona is well worth the short walk. Cas Torrandor resturant in Cala...

Cala Vinas Hotel - a good safe holiday

Advantages: Right on the sea front, lots of activities, relaxing and sun!
Disadvantages: There is not alot near by really

...As a brief summary, the Hotel was easily worth its four stars for the rooms, pool, food and entertainment! Now read on if you wish to know more! At the beginning of August my girlfriend set off on our Holiday to Mallorca from Luton Airport, rather early in the morning - and arrived at the Hotel approximately 5 hours later. This was mainly due to the efficiency which we experienced at the airport and the private taxi that had been booked for us through our agency! It took approximately 20/30 minutes from the airport to the Hotel. The Hotel - When we walked down the sets into the well airconditioned reception it all seemed very welcome and there was a nice mixture of both Spanish and English people who were on the Sofas. Being all inclusive we picked up our bands and headed onto our rooms. We had a bit of confusion trying to...

Review of Cala Vinas, Calvia

Highly Recomended

Advantages: New, stylish, beachfront location, great food
Disadvantages: None

...This is a newly refurbished hotel directly on the beach at Cala Bona, with superb views, and very quiet, but with immediate access to local shops, bars etc. The reception area is very attractive and the standard of fittings and finish extends throughout all public areas and guest rooms. We booked a junior suite, which had the added advantage of a lounge area and double balcony, but a sneaky peek at a couple of the standard rooms showed that they were of a similar high standard, with stone bathroom tiles, flat screen TV's and the latest minimalist decor. We booked half board at a very reasonable supplement of £10 each per night, and were delighted with this choice. The classy restaurant was very well set up, with great sea views, and with excellent service from Miguel, Sissi and Tamara, and a superb selection of food, from traditional...

Barcelo Cala Vinas a scenic place to please us?

Advantages: Immaculate hotel, great entertainment team, lovely location and superb food.
Disadvantages: Remoteish location, lacking room facilities and the damn bingo!

...We had been looking forward to our holiday to Mallorca for such a long time we thought it was never going to arrive. After a hard year full of ups and downs we were more than ready for the break and had built up the trip into something that had to be the perfect getaway. Of course, a vital part of our holiday would be how good the hotel was so it is with some trepidation that we arrived at the Barcelo Cala Vinas on June 14th 2008. Booked through Thomas Cook the Barcelo Cala Vinas is part of a chain. The hotel is situated in the quite and serene area of Cala Vinyes, Calvia. Somewhat off the beaten track, the hotel is situated twenty minutes walk from Magalluf and is just over an hour via coach transfer from Palma airport. Overlooking a beautiful little cove, the hotel is one of few tourist properties in the area with only the Cala...
