The Haute Route is undoubtedly the most famous glacier trek in the Alps. Crossing the glaciers and high passes between Chamonix (F) and Zermatt (CH), this outstanding week-long expedition is a wonderful way to explore the prestigious massifs of Mont Blanc and the Valais. Accessible from June to October, the traverse between the two capitals of the Alps, staying in mountain huts and hotels, is at the borderline between hiking and mountaineering. Text is in English and French languages. Glacier Trek is the third opus in the JMEditions Haute Route trilogy.

We also thought that there would be plenty of sights for us to see. We chose this hotel after reading...
Advantages: Well-run and welcoming hotel in a historic setting Disadvantages: Smallish bedrooms with limited outlook
There are numerous hotels in France that style themselves ?chateaux?, though the claim of many to the title is tenuous to say the least. In this regard, the Chateau Fort Hotel at Sedan is notable for its authenticity; this is a hotel right at the heart of a historic castle, still a significant monument in its own right.
Having said that, I found it rather disappointing that the interior...
