A gem of a hotel in Chiang Mai
Advantages: Lovely rooms, great location, nice breakfast
Disadvantages: Not believing we had booked a suite, expensive spa
...My husband and I visited this hotel on our honeymoon, earlier this year. We spent 3 nights in Bangkok, and then flew direct with Bangkok Airways to Chiang Mai. We were met at the airport and transported to the Chedi, arriving late afternoon.
We arrived at the hotel to a lovely warm welcome; we received arrival drinks and a cold towel and were sat on comfy sofas in reception to check in. We...

Advantages: variety of everything, lots to do, cheap, locals very friendly, beautiful place
Disadvantages: nothing major - humidity a little annoying/ thai toilets if you're at thai boxing are pretty nasty
...be worth a visit if you have time. I especially recommend Chiang Rai where you can see the white temple and the golden triangle, and pai which is well known as a pretty river town.
Nightlife
I didn?t go to Chiang Mai with the intention of going out every night although I did go out a few times during my stay. Nightlife seemed reasonable with different kind of bars/clubs. The rooftop bar is...

A Favourite Thing - Chiang Mai

...Chiang Mai is one of the biggest cities in the North of Thailand and I?m lucky enough to have recently returned from there. I visited Thailand for a fortnight as a break from a trip to Singapore visiting relatives, and although I?ve been to Thailand before, this was my first trip to the North and to Chiang Mai.
