...street, it is an excellent location to relax over a good breakfast whilst watching the hustle and bustle of Amsterdam. If you just fancy a snack, a few doors down from the hotel is 'Pizza M Slice' serving the best (yep you've guessed it) pizza in the city. A must try. If you are travelling to Amsterdam by car (not recommended) the hotel has arranged a 15% discount off parking fees at a car park a few minutes away. Parking is very expensive in the city, and as the public transport is excellent and the majority of attractions are close by, a car really is not needed. For those of a sporty nature there is a modern fitness centre 20 meters from the hotel, where, in cooperation with the fitness centre, there is a discount for guests. ...The Edison Hotel, New York City: Built in 1931 This glorious hotel is located at 228 West 47th Street. Here I will write up a short review upon my experience in the hotel last year. Location: as previously mentioned situated in one of the most dynamic sections of New York City 228 West 47th Street, Directly in the middle of New York which means little walking distance to wherever you may want to venture. Rooms: Depending on what type of accomodation you are looking for, the Edison will be sure offer it to you. Personally our room was slightly better than standard due to us being on a work trip. ...When I was booking a holiday for my partner and I to go to New York, I did a lot of research about hotels, locations, sight-seeing spots etc and then tried to find the best one out of a huge list I made. I didn't want to pay a lot for the hotel because I knew we wouldn't be in it much, and when I saw the Best Western name, I thought it would be a good idea to stick with what I know! So I booked 4 nights in this hotel in December 2005, my second trip to the fantastic NYC. We easily got a transfer from the airport, and gave the driver the address which I had printed out before we left the UK. We speedily set off into the manic NYC traffic in our little yellow cab, and were there within about 1 hour, not bad considering the traffic! ...Most people know New York City as the city that never sleeps or the big apple. Whatever you name New York City it is the largest city in America and has much to offer visitors all around the world. Traveling to New York gave me the opportunity to explore this wonderful City. There is so much to do and see that I was never bored. Travelling through New York is easy as most places are within walking distance and if not you can get a tube or bus. There are many hotels to choose from and finding the right one can be a difficult choice. We chose The Wellington Hotel. I thought it was the right decision when I booked it and as soon as I saw the hotel I knew I had made the right decision. ...~~A little background~~ Chicago was the starting point for our recent road trip touring Northern America. The road trip mapped out, our next step was selecting the hotels. For Chicago, our choice was the Chicago City Centre Hotel & Sports Club. Why? The hotel is close to many of Chicago's attractions - close enough to walk to many with trolley stops nearby to those further away. But as our preference is for quiet - not on the busy Michigan Avenue! The hotel has parking facilities - essential as we were hiring a car. And last but not least we wanted a hotel at the beginning of the holiday that was a little bit special - most of the others on the trip mainly travel motels just somewhere to rest our heads. ...Life building. The lights in the room where already switched on when we entered, and due to the lack of any significant day light, these remained on whenever we were in the room, day or night. The room was not large, nor was it particularly cramped. There were two double beds in the room with a decent amount of space between and around them. What looked like a freestanding wardrobe hid the TV at the foot of the beds, and towards the window were a desk and chair with telephone and all the usual hotel information. Once we had unpacked our cases, they were left next to the TV cabinet, which meant they were never in the way, nor made the room any smaller. As you entered the room, the bathroom was to your right. It was small - but there was enough room to meet your needs - and I still haven't stayed in a city centre hotel with a big bathroom... Read review

...Me and my girlfriend decided to visit Madrid last summer. So being the students that we are we booked cheap flights on easyjet. That was the easy bit. The hard part came later when we had to decide on a hotel to stay in. We wanted somewhere close to the city centre as we were only there for a few days but we had to do it on a budget but wanted to go slightly better than a hostel, it was after all our first holiday abroad together. ::: Why The Asturias?? ::: We eventually settled on the Hotel Asturias because it fitted what we wanted. It is extremely close to the city centre which is what we wanted as we were only there for 3 nights. It is only minutes away from the Calle Gran Via, one of the main shopping streets in Madrid. ...My husband and I recently took a 2 night city break at the City Hotel, Lubljana (May to be exact). To be honest I was a little nervous and not too sure about what to expect by way of quality and standards. I was pleasantly surprised. The City Hotel is a modern , bright hotel in a character building. It has every convenience I could require, sat t.v., internet connection, in-house bars, restaurants and cafes. For a short break it's location was great. You could walk to wherever you want to go in the city. I'd been prepared to have to take taxis, having stayed at Hotels before that claim to be 'centrally located' , but there is definately no other way to describe the location of this hotel. I have to admit that we didn't make use of the inhouse dining facilities, prefering to eat locally in town, but the menu was international... Read review

Advantages: Clean, nice rooms - amazing views from roof top balcony
Disadvantages: 24 Hour coffee bar was actually a vending machine!!

...shopping it’s rather hot so you need to be cooled down. In the evening though it was a bit nippy so the heating was needed. This unit worked well for both although it was a little noisy. The room also provided us with a TV, (pay per view movies as well as normal TV), a phone, a hairdryer, ironing board and tea making facilities. There is a roof top restaurant with huge windows all around which allows for a panoramic view of the city while you eat. We were a bit let down with the restaurant though as it seemed old and a bit shabby. The tables were not laid out nicely and seemed to be a bit higgledy-piggledy. We only ate breakfast here and this was a help yourself affair with no staff on hand to fill up empties etc. The food was quite nice though. There was a door that led out onto the balcony round the roof of the hotel though... Read review
