...The Mackworth hotel is a converted and extended farmhouse situated on the edge of the medieval village of Mackworth, Derbyshire. It lies just 2 miles out of Derby City Centre with close links to the M1/M6/A38/A50. We chose this as our wedding venue in the October of 2006, after visiting the Hotel for several meals and evenings out previously. As well as being fully licensed for civil wedding ceremonies, the hotel boasts extensive conferencing facilities, restaurant and bar areas. The restaurant boasts a superb carvery with a varied choice of meat and veg for a reasonable price as well as many alternatives on the menu. Off to the Derby

...TY Beanies are adorable, there is no wonder my friends and I were crazy for these little soft toys! The TY beanies came in all sorts of varieties, whether animal or bear. They each had their own special name, and between us, my friends and I owned and could name pretty much every one going! One of the teddies is a horse named Derby. This is quite a sweet name for a horse, I must admit. Derby looks quite lazy, if Im honest! he is lying down on his stomach, stretched out and definitely not prepared for any racing! His fur is made of a golden brown colour, with a little white patch on the top of his forehead. He has a black mane and tail, as you'd expect, and looks very horse-like indeed! Derby resort for true blue Aussies

Advantages: Quite pleasant dining, close to centre of town, nice pool

I stayed there recently (September 2008 ) - just overnight, but long enough to give Ciao readers some idea of what to expect when you visit a small coastal town in remote North Western Australia. Good business hotel, showing it's age

...This hotel is no longer the Renaissance, it has been sold by Marriott to a group called Principal Hayley Group. It is now called The Derbyshire Hotel. The Derbyshire Hotel is just off Junction 28 of the M1, it has conference facilities so is usually used by business people or companies needing a meeting room. Across the road is a touchbase (a building to hire meeting rooms), a premier inn and the attached Brewers Fayre. So cheaper competition close by. When staying you can use the heated indoor pool & a small gym for free. I've never used these so can't comment but it's good to have the facilities available. Scenery-wise, it says something when it's the promotional billboards - for the Psygnosis titles and PlayStation - that stand out. But there's something satisfying about seeing the scattering of polygon shards when a car collides, as well as with the sight of up to twenty vehicles coming together in the Destruction Derby bowl (even if there is slight slowdown). Damage on the car is reflected in ten areas and is visible - a pretty cool feature being, post-Championship race, the Pit Compound where the damage suffered by the competitor cars is there to be seen. ...I recently went on a cultural girlie trip with a friend to Paris. I was left to do all the booking. I was looking for a reasonable hotel, near a metro stop, which included breakfast. I came across the Hotel International on various travel sites and it seemed fairly highly rated so I booked us in for three nights. LOCATION: The hotel is located 6 Rue Auguste Barbier in the 11th Arrondissement. The nearest Metro stop is Garcourt which was a two minute walk away and it was a five minute walk to Republique which gives good links to other lines. It's not really central enough to avoid the Metro and walk to the attractions but it was located so close to a stop that it seemed ideal. PRICE: Prices vary depending on size of room and season. There are singles, doubles and triples available. We paid Euro254 for the whole time...
