Inside was a mix of modern touches such as the small lobby lounge with a flat screen pc for guests to use mixed in with the artistic and very Parisian style furniture and the art that hung on nearly every wall. I actually if I'm honest couldn't decide if I liked it or not as I did because it was boutique and intimate and at the same time some of the decor was too 'old fashioned' looking for my taste. However I think if you came to this hotel you wouldn't be disgusted by it and as you don't recoil in horror when you check in to a hotel that that has to be a good thing! The rooms: I would say I expected the rooms to be different after the decor of the hotel in the lobby and I guess it was because they seemed a little boring somehow - the lobby area had nice chairs and lots of art along with flowers...

The Art (Of Forgetting A Clothes Peg)

Advantages: Centrally placed with reasonable room rates. Nice staff. Well furnished
Disadvantages: Area never totally quiet - get a room at the back. No immediately obvious disabled facilities

...When I wrote about my experiences in Lisbon a few months back, I was taken to task for spending too much time describing the hotel, so this time, things are going to be a little different. With a distinct sense of trepidation I'm going to write about a hotel as a stand-alone item for the first time ever, quaking at the thought of my opinion being compared to one by Ciao's very own 'unpaid hotel inspector', Uncle Bill's nephew himself, Richada! I've just got back from 5 very enjoyable nights in Athens (and the days weren't bad either!). Part of what made it enjoyable was our stay at The Art Hotel, Marni Street 27, Athens. Advantages: really modern hotel, whicj has something for everyone
Disadvantages: Not in the best location

...so people can dine outside. THE BAR The bar is close to the reception & breakfast room it is very modern & is situated in a large alcove. The bar is well equipped for any occasion & there are 6 wooden stools at the bar it is quite long sop there are usually 2 bar tenders. The seating area is an adequate size there are about 8 tables with 4 chairs around each of them. On each table there is a small piece of modern art which is very eye catching on one there is shapes out of pencils another there is a bunch of shells & another was a structure of straws. You can order drinks at the bar or with the waiter As guests mainly stay at this hotel on a Bed & breakfast basis the bar also serves light snacks at lunchtimes. The bar closes at midnight. Minimalist Art

...For some reason, I booked a week's holiday to Brussels. On my own. Cheap and cheerful

...This Hotel is close to the centre of Paris, and at less than £20 a night is a marvellous find. Close to many of the grands magasins, as well as hundreds of colourful individual shops, it is a perfect base from which to explore Paris. Although the hotel rooms were not the most spacious ever encountered, all were en-suite and cleaned thoroughly everyday. Covered in posters from various 'spectacles', and with a parrot in residence in the foyer, l'Hotel des Arts was truly welcoming and well worth visiting. Local restaurants - of many different nationalities - were cheap and the friendliness of this part of Paris cannot be underestimated. Although the hustle and bustle of Parisian life was at the end of the street, the enclosed nature of the road meant that noise wasn't a problem. LITTLE GEM HOTEL IN VENICE CALLED LA FENICE

...the hotel is famous for the artists and authors who have stayed there. The hotel is located just five minutes walk from St. Mark's Square. so a brilliant location only problem is finding it the first time as the directions to the hotel given by the hotel seem very complicated and not easy to follow. It is only 15 minutes from Rialto bridge and even closer to Acadamier so a perfect location. It is located in a quiet thoroughfare so no street noise . It is right by the famous opera house that was burnt down and has now been rebuilt in all its glory although to go for a tour is by special arrangement only. Very Pleasant Hotel for Short Break

...I went to Rome for a 3 night city break, and came across this hotel on the Internet and booked it because it was cheap and it was available last minute. The hotel was 10 minutes walk from the main train station were I was dropped off from Rome-Ciampino airport. The receptionist spoke excellent English. The Rome was very pleasant and was far better than what I was expecting for a 2* hotel. It had a clean and functioning bathroom, double bed, good lighting and satelltie TV. As I was out nearly all day, everyday, the room did not bother that much. I was using it for sleeping and who cares what the room looks like when your knackered and all you need is a bed. Hotel Arts - talk about fabulous!

Advantages: Unashamed luxury

...If you want a once-in-a-lifetime experience, stay at the Arts Hotel, Barcelona, preferably over Christmas. This new hotel, the tallest building in Spain, has terrific views either over the city or the Med (the latter rooms slightly more expensive) from elegant, tastefully furnished rooms and service which is second to none. One has to get used to the rather odd hours kept by people from this city, who go out to dinner at midnight, and sleep through the afternoon. We had an invitation from the hotel to free drinks and bites to eat to be held at 4 a.m. When I rang reception to ask if this meant 4 p.m. I was told ?No, 4 a.m.?! The hotel that thinks it's an art gallery

Advantages: Clean, comfortable, relatively cheap and good location
Disadvantages: Garish decor, feeble looking breakfast

We were even able to check room availability using the terminal and though Strasser is not one of them, it is possible to reserve rooms via this system if you wish to be certain the room will still be available when you arrive at the hotel. Advantages: Very close to restaurants and bars in Montparnasse area and very quiet situation so you get a good nights sleep

...We arrived at Gare du Nord, Paris during the afternoon of March 26th 2006 and took the No. 4 metro line towards the Vavin stop. This hotel is part of the Best Western Group and is about a five minute walk from the metro and is situated in a side street. We asked for a non smoking room and got a non smoking room. Our twin room was on the fifth floor, accessed by a small lift. It wasn't very big but as we were only staying for a couple of nights it didn't matter too much. There was a small table next to my bed and there wasn't much room between it and the bathroom door which opened out into the room. We had a television and a mini bar although we didn't use it because the drinks were too expensive. The bathroom was clean and modern, but the shower head took a little time to get used to.
