Advantages: Great weather and food, beaches, malls
Disadvantages: Not always super easy to find a restaurant in some parts of town

Even before their financial situation kicked off, there were some great deals to be had in the United Arab Emirates and for less money than a week in the Canaries, and more guaranteed sun, we were able to head off for Christmas week in Dubai. To put things in perspective, we paid £550 each for flights and 8 nights accommodation...

A quick gallop round Dubai
Advantages: Gives you a good idea of what is in the city
Disadvantages: You have to go at a pace and you do have the feeling of being rushed
...have a good idea of where things are. We know what we want to do when we come back at the end of the cruise and have booked our tickets ready for the Burj Khalifa and also afternoon tea at the Burj al Arab and I think we might just use taxis for getting there!
My warning if you are planning a trip to the UAE is look more carefully as to where you are staying as Dubai is only one of the Emirates...

Advantages: Dubai is a safe place with very good quality of life. There is universal brotherhood everywhere.
Disadvantages: None for me, but the hot weather for tourists who are not used to this.
