The Strand Palace Hotel

Advantages: Central location, clean
Disadvantages: Food, rooms

...We stayed at this hotel in London a little over a month ago now for two nights, we chose this hotel mainly because of the central location and because it was only a ten minuite walk from the show we had booked to go too. Check in was very quick - About ten minuites and the staff at the reception seemed very friendly. My first thoughts on the hotel was that it looked really clean and that it was nicely decorated and it looked modern. I was a little dissapointed with our room as it was very small and basic, our room had a double bed, tea and coffee making facilities, a tv with satellite and a small, basic en suite bathroom with a shower. The views from our room very very poor - A block of offices which made our room dark as they were so close. The hotel has two bars and two resturaunts, the bars were again nicely decorated...

Partying at the Palace (ish)

Advantages: Comfortable, clean, good staff
Disadvantages: A few faults, doesnt live up to expectations

...This review is about my Christmas party experience at the Strand Palace Hotel. This year, I was in charge of organising our office Christmas party, and, being based in South East London, the department tends to head to Bromley or Greenwich for a meal. But this year we decided to go all out, and go 'up west', and so I came across the Strand Palace hotel on my googlequest and we decided to go posh as well. The booking process was slightly tiresome, seeing as the particular member of staff we made our booking through was somewhat challenged in the brains department. The initial booking process was easy. We booked ourselves in for the three-course carvery meal, and then Channy and I (the office babies) were sent scuttling around collecting everybody's cash (£33 per head). All was sent in when a couple of weeks later, the girl calls me...

The Palace: Fit for a Princess?

Advantages: Central location, nice breakfasts
Disadvantages: Expensive rack rate

...I live in Manchester. Not in a ?Greater Manchester? kinda way, but in Manchester proper. You may wonder, therefore, why I stayed at the Palace Hotel in the city. I wondered too. But, I was at a national event organised by a national office, and in their national wisdom, they booked all of us in as resident conference delegates, even those of us who live within, um, walking distance. I do like my own place, my own kitchen, my own bed, but not in an obsessive way, so when someone else wants to pay for me to stay in a nice room where I don?t have to make the bed or clean the bath, and where I get 3 meals per day provided gratis, I don?t say no. The Palace Hotel is located on Oxford Rd near the city centre. It?s near the Palace Theatre, the Cornerhouse cinema and the Sainsbury?s Local store. You can walk to Oxford Rd, Deansgate...

Delphin Palace Hotel

Advantages: An excellent all round hotel for all age groups
Disadvantages: Slippery Pool Area

...We have just returned from a fabulous two weeks' holiday at the Delphin Palace Hotel and I would say to anyone thinking of going, do not hesitate, you are in for a treat. We were a party of 6, ages ranging from 55 to 11 months and there was something for us all. Everything about this hotel, (from the foyer, the rooms, the pools, and the gardens) was well run and immaculately looked after. The hotel was fully booked, but the attention to detain never failed. The staff were very friendly and polite and made a huge fuss of our small grand-daughters. This is a hotel made in heaven for children. They have their own shallow pool with 'Octopus' slides, a well run children's club, the Luna Park funfair (bumping cars, big wheel, pirate ship, train and swings) and a nightly mini-disco in the Amphitheatre. There is even popcorn...

Bangkok Palace Hotel

Advantages: Good cheap hotel, good facilities
Disadvantages: Odd location, under the expressway!

...the surronding streets, but be sure to haggle a price before you get in.........everyone tries to rip you off, just keep your guard about you! There is a nice swimming pool outside buts its right next to the expressway so therefore can be quite noisy! The gym is nice thou and has modern facilties. The reception staff are all very friendly, although i phoned them several times to request extra pillows but to no avail. I took the hotel taxi service on a sightseeing tour one day and the driver was very helpful, and took us to the reclining budda and the grand palace and told us many interesting things about not only Bangkok and the places we were visiting but about his own family which was a lovely insight into Thai life. All in all a very good hotel, and it can be booked on the internet for dirt cheap prices, well worth it for a flying...

Dorada Palace hotel review

Advantages: everything
Disadvantages: not in the centre of the buzz

...One word sums up this hotel - Stunning!! My family and I stayed at this hotel last September on a half board basis and it would say it was complete value for money. We travelled as a party of 5 adults and 4 children. Each family cost £700 for the one week half board stay. the hotel is relativly new and based at the back end of Salou, away from the buzz but only a 5 - 10 minute walk to get there. It is also situated very near the Fuertaventura theme park. We walked to it when we went. The hotel itself is spotless. The main entrance is very big but welcoming. The reception area always has at least 2 staff on duty day or night. They sell all the british news papers from early doors as well as magazines and guide books etc. To the back of the recpetion is the swimming area. There is the main pool which has a life guard present...

Riu Palace Hotel, Madeira

Advantages: A fantastic holiday experience
Disadvantages: Location, in particular for those with mobility problems although the hotel is disability friendly.

...INTRODUCTION The Riu Palace in Madeira sits like a white-washed fairytale castle with terracotta turrets, corner towers and grand archways looking out over the sapphire-blue sea. The grounds house brightly coloured flowers and palm trees making you believe you are on a Caribbean island far away. The Riu Palace is located right on the seafront at Canico de Baixo, only 10 minutes drive from Funchal Airport and 20 minutes drive to the city of Funchal. On arrival at the airport everything ran smoothly and quickly apart from me not recognising my own suitcase!!! We were driven to the hotel in a small mini bus with 5 other people and half an hour later we were sunbathing by the pool. Now that's what I call service. CHECK IN From the moment you check in at the impressive, grand reception area with its polished marble flooring, elegant...

Hotel Palace Bolgna- Old World Charm

Advantages: centrally located, large rooms, excellent value
Disadvantages: some rooms on the top floor too hot in winter

...I know the Palace Hotel in Bologna because I stayed there every year when we had our annual teachers' conference. I would say it is a superior three star hotel. First the location- it is very central just a few minutes walk from the main square Piazza Maggiore. It is tucked away in a small street off the main Via dell'Indipendenza. The organisation I worked for chose the hotel I think because of its central location and also because it has a large number of rooms. All are comfortable and perfectly well appointed. There is a certain old world style reception area. The quality price trade -off is just right. Breakfast is usually included and is more than adequate. They had a full breakfast bar the last time I was there and you can order coffee or tea from the staff. They have great cornetti as well which are fresh every morning...

A Pauper's Palace

Advantages: Superb location, cheap rates considering location
Disadvantages: Rubbish breakfast, tiny bathrooms, slow service

...Long before I stayed at the Regents Palace Hotel, close to Piccadilly Circus, I had the impression that it must be rather a nice place to stay. From the exterior one gets the impression that it is quite swish and, of course, one assumes that it must be quite costly given its location in the very heart of the West End. Therefore it was never an accommodation option I considered when looking for somewhere to stay in the capital until I found myself needing a hotel during one of the all too frequent public transport strikes. I had won a competition to go the MOBO awards with a nights accommodation at the rather grand Sunbourn Yacht Hotel in Docklands but wanted to extend the trip by a night to do some shopping and go on the London Eye; those being my main considerations I knew I would need somewhere fairly central. Each website I looked...
