Serre Chevalier - Chantemerle 1350
Advantages: Good variety of runs
Disadvantages: Snowfall seems to have reduced
...Hotels are also available here)
Driving time from Calais - around 10hours
Lift pass price - 100GBP for 6 days (this includes a day at Alpe D'Heuz, Les Deux Alpes )
People - We found them all very friendly and not many UK people. You even get to see Luc Alphand's dog!! (Luc Alphand was World Champion Downhill skier from Serre Chevalier)
Snow making - they do have snow cannons that are used whenever...

Review of Serre-Chevalier

Ups and Downs of Serre Chevalier
Advantages: brilliant skiing, alpine village prettiness,great English speaking ski school, Close to Italy and other resorts.
Disadvantages: Not to great for veggies and nightlife fairly low key.
...So far i have only skied 4 times, in Flaine (France), Serre Chevalier (France.....obviously!!), Borovets (Bulgaria) and Bad Hofgetein (Austria).
Serre Chevalier has been the most enjoyable for the following reasons:
Many of France's ski resorts are high altidude and therefore purpose built, usually with concrete grey buildings and not much else. Serre Chevalier is a pretty alpine style village...

Review of Serre-Chevalier

Basic Parisian hotel... but a brilliant location.
Advantages: Close to some good shops, a good metro station and not far from the Eiffel Tower.
Disadvantages: Tiny room, paper thin walls (and I MEAN paper thin) and quite tired rooms.
...* hotel as it was in a good location and it looked nice enough on the pictures, it wasn't badly priced too compared to similar hotels in Paris.
The Hotel's Location
Europe Hotel is in an ideal location on a busy street. It's situated only a 10-15 minute walk away from the Effiel Tower, which was amusing on our first day as we stood with a map wondering where the busy street we were standing in...
