Fantastic hotel in Lake Garda, reasonable price and great staff

Advantages: Friendly staff, clean rooms, good facilities
Disadvantages: A little too far from town if walking, pool covered

.... The room had a large bed, large balcony and there was a safe and fridge in the wardrobe. The bathroom was modern and all was very clean. The staff were extremely friendly, and the people who manned the desk all spoke good English and were able to advise us on local places to go. Locally there were a couple of wonderful restaurants serving fantastic food for reasonable prices, only a five minute walk from the hotel. However, the hotel is situated slightly out of the town of Desenzano. This was not too much of an issue for us as we had a car and were not there in high season so could park easily in the town, but would be a 20 min brisk walk without. On the plus side, Lake Garda was only across the road from the hotel and if you prefer peace and quiet the hotel certainly offers that. In summary I would stay here again if visiting Desenzano...

We stayed in Limone in August 2006, We Didn't know what to expect as i book it on Last mintue.com , which cost £299 half board for 1 week and our hotel was allocated on arrival. Garda Town - Great place

Advantages: Garda Town - great location for expliring other areas
Disadvantages: Bus between towns - never on time.

There is a local bus provided free of charge which circulites around the town every half hour - just get on and off whereever you like NO COST. This is an excellent idea as some of the hotels and appartnments are a good distance from the main town. We stayed in the Court Dell Rose Apartments approx 2KM from the main town and the bus was needed to get up and down as it was too warm to walk. The walk was enjoyable at night after a good feed. Close by - about 30 minutes on the bus was Gardaland which is Italys largest theme park. For 2 adults and 3 children it cost 108 euro which was good value. ...I visted Lake Garda a couple of summers ago and must say it was one of the most people places I have ever visited. Lots of people do seem to complain about it being overly touristy but with scenery like this I can certainly see why. Although it is an extremely popular holiday destination and there are a few touristy gift shops about I still would not say that Lake Garda was too touristy. When I visited I stayed in the largest resort of Riva del Garda a wonderful little town at the north of the lake. Lake Garda has plenty to do with lots of little cafes and restaurants. It is also in walking distance of the next resort. Riva was a beautiful town with a pictureque square which was home to many forms of entertainment in the evening. ...We flew to Verona and jumped in a taxi to Lake Garda(30mins drive, cost about £40). We stayed in the Hotel Continental in Sirmione. Sirmione is a beautiful old town which you have to enter through the castle. There is a few shops and restaurants and lots of snack bars selling pizza and icecream. The old part of town is mainly pedestrianised. From the dock you can get a boat to just about anywhere around the lake. The boats are fairly cheap and very efficient. The scenery around the lake varies tremendously. In the south, it is very green and flat and the north of the lake is surrounded by mountains. Riva in the north is spectacular. A place in the sun - Torri de Benaco, Lake Garda

Advantages: tranquil and picturesque.

.... Places of Interest There is an excellent Tourist Information Centre in the town where the staff are extremely helpful. From here one can find all the best places to visit around the lake, get timetables for local boats and buses, national railways and hotel information. Like most of the towns around the lake Torri has a castle. Formerly the seat of government for Benaco (now known as Garda). From the outside it looked inviting but it never seemed to be open to the public when we were around. I believe inside there are museums displaying life as it was in times gone by in this Olive producing region. It is also used for civil functions, we were lucky to observe a wedding. There are two churches in Torri de Benaco, which one can visit or attend services. They often host exhibitions and concerts free of charge. Shopping...

...I recently went on a cultural girlie trip with a friend to Paris. I was left to do all the booking. I was looking for a reasonable hotel, near a metro stop, which included breakfast. I came across the Hotel International on various travel sites and it seemed fairly highly rated so I booked us in for three nights. LOCATION: The hotel is located 6 Rue Auguste Barbier in the 11th Arrondissement. The nearest Metro stop is Garcourt which was a two minute walk away and it was a five minute walk to Republique which gives good links to other lines. It's not really central enough to avoid the Metro and walk to the attractions but it was located so close to a stop that it seemed ideal. PRICE: Prices vary depending on size of room and season. There are singles, doubles and triples available. We paid Euro254 for the whole time...
