The Riverside Court Hotel, Sheffield
Advantages: Near City Centre, Good value for money, River view
Disadvantages: On a busy road
...The Riverside Court Hotel is situated just outside Sheffield City Centre within a few minutes walk of the main markets and one of the main Shopping areas of the City.
It occupies a prominent position on the corner of Nursery Street, where it meets the Wicker. Historically the Wicker is an area of the City that was once a thriving part of Sheffield with lots of Shops and Businesses. Today it is rather run down, although improvements are currently underway, and most of the businesses in this area are now take aways and other fast food outlets.
The Riverside Court Hotel actually occupies quite an enviable location at the top end of the Wicker. It sits on Lady's Bridge next to the Exchange Brewery Works with views overlooking the River Don and the new Apartment Blocks on the opposite banks of this River. Lady's Bridge was built in...

A Cosy Night In The Leafy Suburbs Of Sheffield!
Advantages: Good Value For Money, Friendly Staff
Disadvantages: Quite Small
...The Nether Edge Hotel in Sheffield was the chosen location of a Wedding Party Reception when a good friend got married yestersay (Saturday 8th April 2006). Although it is located only about 3 miles from where I live I knew that there was going to be a late (very late) Bar and so I decided along with a few other guests, and the Bride & Groom to book a room for the night.
THE LOCATION
The Nether Edge Hotel
21-23 Montgomery Road
Nether Edge
Sheffield
South Yorkshire
S7 1LN
Telephone: 0114 255 4363
It is directly on the number 22 Bus route from the city centre and there is a Bus Stop right outside. By Bus is it less than a ten minute journey from the town centre, which will currently cost you £1.50 for a single fare.
THE RECEPTION ROOMS

Beauchief Hotel that isn't very 'beau'!!
Advantages: Quiet room
Disadvantages: Distance from city centre
...for a wrap, only to find that they stopped serving food there at 7 pm (we went in at 7.10 pm) and that food could either be obtained from the main restaurant or room service. The bar has a large screen tv which is a little too much for the small area and is not conducive to having a quite drink. We went into the restaurant only to find that it was empty and too quiet!!! (No happy medium avaiable)
There are a variety of restaurants within Sheffield but very few in this area of the outskirts...we drove back down towards town and finally settled for a typical pub meal at a nearby pub.
On returning to the hotel we found the entrance to the residents car park and managed to secure a space...there doesn't seem to be many spaces available but it was dark!
The double bed in the room was extremely comfortable and extra pillows were available...

Ibis Sheffield - the heat is on, no it's off again!
Advantages: Good location, good value for money
Disadvantages: No additional facilties
...A low budget weekend getaway (thanks to National Express for the £1 each way offer!) called for a low cost hotel. I remembered someone saying that the Accor family member Etap now had a hotel in Sheffield but, situated by the Don Valley Stadium, it was a little too far out of town to be practical for such a short stay. As I am now the proud owner of an Accor hotels loyalty card I decided to check the Accor website and see if any other reasonably priced hotels presented themselves and this was how we came to choose the Ibis. I know this will sound strange to those readers who like a certain ?standard? of accommodation but I have rarely considered Ibis hotels because I?ve always thought them to be pricey; in any case I tend to look at hostel and bed and breakfast accommodation before I look at hotel options.
We were quoted £49...

Novotel Sheffield
Advantages: Central
Disadvantages: Limited parking
...either underneath the hotel or a few spaces are available directly outside the door.
It is quite a modern building and across the road from Sheffield Hallam University. The heated swimming pool is on your right as you enter the building and a flight of stairs straight ahead takes you up to reception, lobby, restaurant and bar. The staff are extremely helpful and friendly.
The rooms are quite spacious. Double or twin beds, sofa bed, tv, desk, hairdryer, bathroom and separate toilet. We have stayed in rooms overlooking the University and overlooking the Winter Gardens at the rear and both have been quiet.
Hotel guests have the use of a nearby Gym if required but unfortunately we have never had the time to take up this offer.
The bar area is comfortable and can get a little noisy, depending on the type of guests. The reception...

If you stay anywhere in Sheffield, STAY HERE!!!
Advantages: Lovely hotel not too far from City centre
Disadvantages: Slightly flustered receptionist!
...Well, I booked this hotel as the one I usually book (The Harley) was all full up, most likely because of the snooker bods staying in Sheffield this weekend. And I'm soooo glad I did!
As I don't go to this end of Sheffield much we had a little difficulty finding the place to start with. We were on the bus (the 22 services from High Street or the Peace Gardens goes that way) and although the bus stop is right outside the hotel itself, the building is set slightly back from the road and sort of dominated by the Nether Edge Taven next door, so we went right round to the bus terminus, as the driver didn't know where it was either and looked VERY CAREFULLY for our hotel, diving off the bus, almost literally, when my friend saw it!
At first glance it looks like quite a small place. According to the brochure blurb it's a mid-19th...

A Big Day At The Sheffield Novotel!
Advantages: Excellent Food, Central Location.
Disadvantages: Poor Bar Service, Limited Parking.
...When one of my best friends got married yesterday (Sunday 19th December 2005) the location that she chose was the Novotel in Sheffield. This location was chosen for the entire day, which included the Civil Wedding at 2.30pm, the meal afterwards at 4pm and the evening reception which started at 7.30pm.
The first thing that I will say before I begin this review is that I live less than a 5 minute walk away from this Hotel, which is conveniently situated right in the middle of the city centre, so I didn't actually stay here. This review is therefore based on my own opinions as seen from a non paying guest.
My friend was staying at the Novotel (with her sister) on the Saturday night as well as her Wedding night the following day so I first went to this Hotel on Saturday night for a pre wedding drink.

Whirlowbrook Hall, Sheffield
Advantages: Lovely setting
Disadvantages: Cafe is expensive
...Whirlowbrook Hall is located about 5 miles to the west of Sheffield city centre, close to the county border of Derbyshire and on the edge of the Peak District National Park. It was built in 1906 as the family home of Sir Walter Benton-Jones, a leading industrialist in the city.
Today, Whirlowbrook Hall is one of the premier venues in the region for weddings, conferences, banquets and meetings. Within the building there are numerous different rooms that can be hired out for these private functions. The venue now also holds a civil marriage license so it is possible to get married here in addition to holding your function here afterwards.
The various rooms range dramatically in size. A few years ago I worked for a company that hired out the Music Room on several occasions for its senior staff meetings and this is when I first became...

Little Tikes Junior Activity Gym
Advantages: sturdy, strong, robust, attractive, compact
Disadvantages: difficult to assemble, not as much fun as it could be
...~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Little Tikes Junior Activity Gym
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Most crèches or children?s play areas seem to have one of these activity gyms and they looked bright and colourful so we decided to get one for my brothers first birthday.
The activity gym as shown in the picture is made up of four side panels, each with holes in for the child to climb through. There is a small bright pink slide and a blue floor, which the children can go under or climb on to go down the slide.
As we unpacked the activity gym it looked relatively simple to assemble, as it was really just a case of slotting the panels together but don?t be fooled! It was not at all easy to assemble although the only consolation is that if it was that difficult to put together its going to be near impossible for it to fall apart! The brightly...
Bristol in... Sheffield
Advantages: not expensive
Disadvantages: a bit wacky colour scheme throughout
...My husband and I stayed in the Hotel Bristol in Sheffield in 2002. We made a reservation really late, almost at the last minute, but we managed to book a room and arrived two hours later. I remember because of strange road system it took us quite along time to actually get to the hotel and find the right car-park and by mistake we first parked in the car park of another hotel. But check-in was no problem at all.
Our room looked very bright, done in red and blue colours. I suppose the colours were chosen to create a modern look and I do like bright colours, but I am not sure if red and blue are appropriate for a bedroom. Unless you are absolutely shattered and don?t need a calming and relaxing atmosphere anyway and all you need is a bed. But maybe I am wrong? Anyway, apart from the bed there was a TV, telephone, tea and coffee making...
