The Felbridge Hotel, Sussex
Advantages: Furnishings and decor brand new, every detail considered
Disadvantages: Restaurant and wine list expensive
...The Felbridge Hotel, East Grinstead, Sussex - 'four star luxury grade' - changed hands this year and has been completely refurbished to a very high standard in a contemporary style - all chocolate, beige and cream. Maybe not to everyone's taste - not very cosy and perhaps lacking a bit of character - but I loved it. Everything clean, shiny and brand spanking new. It is situated next to a main road but this didn't really detract from the hotel and we didn't notice any noise. The road is quite hard to cross on foot and it isn't easy to turn right against the flow of traffic - although we managed ok.
I booked for a weekend break in August, staying with my other half, on a special deal of £110 for executive double room including full English breakfast. Standard rooms, luxury studios and suites are also available - please check...

Radisson Edwardian Sussex Hotel
Advantages: Location, comfort, friendly
Disadvantages: Small bathroom, minibar prices
...I stayed in the Sussex hotel over Easter and had a great time.
The hotel is located about 1 minute from Marble Arch underground station and one block past Selfridges, so if you like to shop this hotel is ideally located for you.
It's quite an impressive building from the outside and although the entrance looks pretty none discript, when you walk into reception it turns out to a lovely modern hotel.
I was greeted by a very friendly and competent Receptionist, who gave me all the info I needed and checked me into my room with no hassles at all. Security is quite high as you need the key card to move around the building and to work the lifts.
The room itself has very modern decor and very comfortable furnishings. The bed is so comfy, by far has to be the best hotel bed I have ever slept in, and I stay away from home quite...

...Hastings Castle
Castle Hill Road,
West Hill,
Hastings
Standing proudly on the cliff top, looking out over the glistening sea, with views to Eastbourne and across the channel, the proud ruins of Hastings Castle make a spectacular site, especially on a sunny day . I don't think I can do this castle justice without going into the back story, so forgive me if this review gets a little lengthy.
Hastings was the first Norman castle built in Britain, and its location was a strategic one . Originally built of wood and earth as a Motte and Bailey in September 1066, shortly before the Battle of Hastings, from its vantage point high up on the cliffs, it could watch the channel to welcome in Norman ships, and could also survey the surrounding countryside, and be forewarned of any sneaky attacks from the locals .
Here they could prepare...

Hastings Direct - AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
Advantages: None if you have to claim
Disadvantages: Appalling service outside of FSA guidelines
...On returning from my recent trip to France, I came home to find to find two nasty surprises. The first was in my haste to leave I had forgotten to do the washing up and there was a good smelly pile of decaying plates and cups just waiting for an industrial hose. No one else to blame but myself on that one. The second nasty surprise was that my car had been stolen.
Like any insurance policy be it home, personal or car the true worth of the policy is only measurable once you have to make a claim on it. You can have the cheapest premiums in the world but if when you come to need the insurance company and they fail spectacularly to deliver, what price those discounts now.
I never asked to be Hastings Direct. In the same way we never asked to be under Gordon Brown, my policy was transferred from Budget Choice. I do not know the ins...

Hastings for 1066 And All That
Advantages: Good hotels. History 1066
Disadvantages: A bit tacky in parts. Rising crime
...Hastings in East Sussex is very much on the tourist map because of 1066-indeed it is known and marketed as 1066 country. You soon realize that Hastings is very much into heritage tourism, although the spot where the battle took place is actually a few miles outside the town and is appropriately named Battle.
It was at Battle where the French William the Conqueror defeated King Harold back in 1066. Today there are daily tours of the battlefield and there's an interesting and informative audio-visual exhibition in the Gatehouse of Battle Abbey;the altar marks the very spot where, allegedly, Harold was slain.Battle is just six miles from Hastings.
Actually there are in some senses two parts to the town of Hastings- the old quaint town where the fishing fleet used to land their catch and which is still very interesting and the more...

Hastings Town is the best
Advantages: Lots to do and Lots to See
Disadvantages: Read the review
...I have been living in Hastings since I have been living here that’s coming up 19 years and boy has it change alot in that time.
Hastings is a busy town just on the outside of St. Leonard’s-on-sea and near Fairlight.
***Activities***
Hastings has many activities for all ages for example: The Mini Golf on the seafront. The Adventure Golf, which has only just been finished, is superb for people wanting to find out if they are going to be the next Tiger Woods.
A fairground called Flamingo Park (I used to work there seasonally) which has very little ride for people of all ages to go on. What they do have are the Most ever Popular BUMPER CARS, 007 which is not for the faint hearted.
Hastings is a big place for all those gamblers out there who want to put money in those dreadful slot machines. You can find most of these...

Hastings Castle - Its not up North!!
Advantages: Beautiful views, so much history
Disadvantages: Wont take you long to look!
...Boy, did I make my family laugh last week, did I ever keep them amused for hours. I was the subject of ridicule for at least 36 hours. Why? It was a simple honest enough mistake.
It was whilst we were driving on a trip our, we'd been holidaying near Rye. I just happened to mention that I had always though Hastings was 'up North' and that the famous battle of 1066, you know the one that virtually changed the face of England had also happened up there.
My daughter had, by some ill chance been studying the Normans at school last year and she thought it was hysterical. Alan just thought it one of those daft-ass blonde moments I've been having lately.
So being only 12 miles from Rye, we travelled to the seaside town of Hastings, ( I didn't even know it was on the coast!), which turned out to be a lovely place. But we weren't there to...

Day Trip To Hastings
Advantages: Cheap and Cheerful
Disadvantages: Some areas are scruffy
...This is my favorite sea side destination come here and you wont be disappointed.
First things first every one knows about the battle of Hastings 1066 well that actually happened up the road, but what else do you know? You may of heard of Hastings reputation for being tatty and univiting but don't listen to that, sure it may be a little rough around the edges but that just adds to the charm.
If you visit Hastings head to the Old Town first, framed between the East and West Hills the old Town has nearly every type of architecture you can imagine, it resembles a Cornish fishing village without the crowds! For Architecture be sure to walk down All saints Street, High Street and Croft Road, Tackleway. There are Medieval, Georgian and Victorian buildings all trying to grab your attention. Also if you walk down to the stade there are...

Good old sussex by the sea
Advantages: Varied attractions, beautiful scenery, quiet
Disadvantages: none
...The traditionnal song of Brighton and Hove Albion F.C. and what better way to describe this glorious county. What is even better is that it is not too far from London yet it has none of the smug, dull Home Counties conformity that Surrey or Hertfordshire has. There is a definite distinct Southern English identity different from London and its environs.A warm May weekend spent in the Sussex countryside is a pleasure to wish for dearly in the middle of this cold, bleak January!
The attractions are manifold, the rolling, softness of the Downs in summer (and their bleak beauty in Winter), the eclectic alternative nature of Brighton standing side by side with the faded gentility of Eastbourne and the charming old town of Hastings, the charming towns of Arundel, Steyning, Rye and Lewes and the delights of Ashdown Forest and the Weald.
Sussex...

Hastings....they actually fought for this place!
Advantages: Nice in summer
Disadvantages: Dank and dismal in winter
..., or The Cave (sorry I can't remember). For two coffees, one hot chocolate and a soft drink along with muffins and a danish the whole lot came to under a tenner and was delicious!
Later on in the afternoon we met up with our friends for a walk through the shopping precint of Hastings. It has all the normal shops you would expect to find in a town along with an inside bit as well. In the middle of the town was the information building. Here you can get information on practically anything in or around Sussex.
After trailing through the main town we decided to take a walk into Old Hastings. Old Hastings is totally different to the modern day one with its narrow streets and little "one off" shops it is very quaint. From the promanade in Hastings if you look up, on a clear day, you can see Hastings Castle, at night this looks very eerie as...
