...I recently went on a cultural girlie trip with a friend to Paris. I was left to do all the booking. I was looking for a reasonable hotel, near a metro stop, which included breakfast. I came across the Hotel International on various travel sites and it seemed fairly highly rated so I booked us in for three nights. LOCATION: The hotel is located 6 Rue Auguste Barbier in the 11th Arrondissement. The nearest Metro stop is Garcourt which was a two minute walk away and it was a five minute walk to Republique which gives good links to other lines. It's not really central enough to avoid the Metro and walk to the attractions but it was located so close to a stop that it seemed ideal. PRICE: Prices vary depending on size of room and season. There are singles, doubles and triples available. We paid Euro254 for the whole time...

Pop a Cork! - Cork International Airport Hotel

Advantages: Unique, Extremely Comfortable, Location, New build, Service
Disadvantages: Maybe a little pricey

...OVERVIEW If you are considering a trip to Ireland, one of the most popular areas to visit is around Cork. Although I've been to Ireland almost annually since a child, I'd never visited Cork until this year. The area differs enormously from the West Coast, in that there are more rolling hills, arable farming and very reminiscent of Cornwall or Devon. On my travels I always like to stay in nice hotels, well at least the best that I can afford, and that usually entails trawling through the various travel booking engines to see which is offering the best deal. I tend to find that the airport hotels are usually slightly cheaper than those in the centre of town, and for me there is the added bonus that I can do a bit of plane spotting and photography as well!! A hotel in downtown Calgary.

Advantages: Suite hotel in downtown Calgary with great food
Disadvantages: Some traffic noise

...Our travel agent reserved a suite for us at the International Hotel in Downtown Calgary for the first night of our Canadian holiday. Opened in 1970 with 248 suites, it was only 6km from the airport and reached in about 15 minutes by taxi, but the estimated time on the airport shuttle bus was 1 hour as it stops at several hotels en route. Calgary has a structure of avenues and streets in grid formation and the hotel is on 4th Avenue Southwest, close to Chinatown and two blocks away from the Light railway for getting around the city. Reception, was bright and comfortable settees and chairs were around the long narrow area. Check in was quick and easy and a credit card was needed for incidental expenses, in no time we were directed to one of the lifts and would have been zooming our way to the 7th floor and our suite if we had realised...

...the details - it had already gone too. Getting desperate now I opened multi-map and asked it for all the hotels in the area. After a bit of googling I tracked down the website of the Potters International Hotel. It looked quite modern and was pretty close to where I need to be; so I gave them a call. There isn't a booking facility on the site and after a short time on hold I was offered a room at £99 including breakfast. It was a bit more than I wanted to pay - I could have stayed in London for less; but to be honest I couldn't be arsed looking any further so booked it over the telephone. Hen weekend - Apex international, Edinburgh

Advantages: Proximity to city, excellent rooms and brilliant staff

...We visited Edinburgh on my hen night and I had previously stayed at the Apex City on buisness which is about 3 doors away from the Apex International. All of our guests were arriving at different times as travelling from far and wide. As the bride I arrived first at 8.30am as my flight was an early one. We checked in but our rooms were not ready, the hotel offered to take our bags and then suggested an excellent breakfast eatery located on the Royal Mile. As we had just landed in Edinburgh we did not have much of a clue how to navigate the city - the staff in reception were excellent and even gave us a free map whislt advising of the best sights to see!! ...My husband and I decided to book this hotel to stay in while we were getting married in Edinburgh. We decided to book this hotel after looking at its website and I must say that many hotels are a letdown when you see them in reality but this one was just as good or even better than we expected. Belfast International Airport

Advantages: Internet, Cheap car parking

...Belfast International Airport (Belfast Aiport) I flew out of belfast airport around four years ago, when I did fly out of the airport it was a bad time to fly out. The day before we where to depart to orlando the shoe bomber came on the scene! So the airport secuirty was put up. But the airline I was travelling with most of their planes had Technical difficuilties. So I was delayed for 30 hours and had to stay in the Hilton over night. So I should be able to tell you enough about it as I was in it for 24 hours. Area... The Belfast airport isn't in belfast, it is closer to Antrim a city near belfast. The airport is around 12 or 13 miles away from Belfast. So I don't know why they called it Belfast International Airport. But there is a hotel beside the airport. So if you have a early flight and you coudn't be bothered to get up...

Anti-luxury in Docklands

Advantages: Good location for Docklands and City Airport
Disadvantages: Overpriced, low standards, bad service

...on the Britannia International, a four star hotel in Canary Wharf. I figured that I'd get more for my buck being a little further out from the centre of London, and being in the heart of a business district I thought I'd get a great weekend deal. It was close to London City airport and was surrounded by great restaurants. I booked through Opodo, although the hotel was listed on all the usual hotel search engines, as well as having it's own website (britanniahotels.com). Opodo came out cheapest, plus I got £5 back through greasypalm. The room cost £109 through Opodo. The rack rate was £300. As with all hotels, rates vary day to day. A 15% deposit was charged to my credit card on booking. As it turns out, Britannia is actually a chain of 3 and 4 star hotels across the UK, which I hadn't realised at the time of booking. Good value for money. Cheesy decoration but absolutely comfy

Advantages: Good value for money, 'cluedo' style decoration, surreal!! Great location.
Disadvantages: 'bar' closes early , quality of service not consistant.

...Where do i start? From the oustside (this hotel can be seen from Picadilly train station so it's easy to find) the hotel looks dodgy and rundown. It's quite a surprise when you open the front door and see the interior is rather posh and clean. Bright red. They have budget rooms (£30) with shared bathroom and ensuite rooms for £45. I ve chosen the 'posh' one ;-) Anyway for this price in central Manchester the room did not dissapoint me. The bed is super comfy and the room is generally clean and tidy. The toilet/shower is basic but who needs a posh toilet, how much of your trip is actually spent in the toilet? Not much i would hope, if you do it's probably something you ate... ,,which makes me move on to the 'restaurant'. Well, i havent tried the food so can't comment but had a quick taste of the bar and ok, it's weird, tacky...
