Central London Budget Hotel
Review of Garth Hotel, London by  shricthism

Advantages: Great location, Comfortable beds.
Disadvantages: Grubby

...+++++++Intro+++++++++ This is a review of the Garth Hotel in Gower St London. I have noticed that offers for other Garth Hotels pop up around this review, so be careful which one you are looking at. Its a large 5 story terraced house currently used as a Hotel. There are a lot of steep stairs and no facilities for disabled people that I could see. +++++++++Location++++++++++ The first thing to say about the Garth Hotel in Gower St is that the location is brilliant. Especially if you want to go to the British Museum, Tottenham Court Road or Oxford St. Its also very handy for Euston Station which is only a five minute walk away. ++++Common Areas++++ It is a budget hotel and has to be judged as such. As you enter through the front door you realise the walls are lined with interesting prints, a theme continued throughout the hotel... Read review

Superb London Budget Hotel
Review of Ashley Hotel, London by  sandrabarber

Advantages: Beautiful setting in a buzzing part of London
Disadvantages: Not suitable for disabled people - no lift

...The Ashley Hotel is a superb, well-priced B&B hotel in a gorgeous location in central London. It is situated in Norfolk Square, Paddington, and is just 2 minutes walk from Paddington station. Paddington itself is a buzzing district of London adjacent to the West End, and is packed full of shops, restaurants, bars etc. Norfolk Square is an oasis of tranquility amongst this. It is a square (obviously) of tall, elegant Victorian mansions, all of which have been turned into budget hotels. The hotels are painted white and cream, and have tall windows and beautiful old railings outside. In the centre of them all is a railed garden. Obviously, it was once a place of residence for people of means in the Upstairs-Downstairs tradition. The Ashley Hotel comprises 3 mansions made into one, and has 50 (I think) rooms. The reception... A modern but poky London hotel
Review of Queensgate Hotel, London by  moo-cow

Advantages: Close to the Royal Abert Hall, modern, bright, minimalist style
Disadvantages: Too small, rooms lacking essentials, narrow staircase, unreliable lift

...would have been wonderful, especially as the lift wasn't operational and getting back and forth between bar and room was a drag (although they didn't say that the lift was out of order, so maybe it only goes as far as the third floor - it is an old town house, after all). So I have mixed feelings. The Queensgate is one of the five Niche hotels. Niche has a reputation for being intimate, minimalist, cool and contemporary. I would agree with this and I do love their philosophy. I would like to visit their other hotels to compare it to the Queensgate (the others are in Stow-on-the-Wold, Cardiff and Newcastle). I have twice stayed at their Cardiff hotel, The Royal Hotel (or theroyalhotel as they prefer to put it, being so hip and all) within the last month. This is far, far better than London's poky offering. Cheaper, too. I appreciate... Read review

Great modern 5* London hotel
Review of Grange City Hotel, London by  cdmitchell

Advantages: Location, modern facilities, "Wellness Centre" - pool, spa, sauna, steam room
Disadvantages: No view from the room

...My wife and I stayed at the Grange City Hotel over the most recent bank holiday weekend. Having stayed in many London hotels that have tiny rooms and feel fairly overpriced, I was pleasantly surprised with the Grange City Hotel. The room was fantastic, and huge! The king size bed, desk, radio, tv with local channels, business channels as well as several sports and foreign language channels, and the option of internet and pay movies. Each room has a safe, iron, and tea and coffee making facilites. The minibar was even computerised! (be careful you don't touch anything unless you want to pay for it!) The bathroom was immense, modern, and had a large bath and a separate shower. Our room was supposed to come with 2 monogramed bathrobes, although they weren't there when we arrived. The friendly staff of the Grange ensured that we... Read review

Good discounts at hotels in London
Review of london-discount-hotel.com by  starmaven

Advantages: Good special offers, easy to book hotels
Disadvantages: More hotel details needed

...It was very easy to book a luxury hotel in London on this site. They have more than 100 hotels that you can view and book online ranging from Best Western, Comfort Inn, Hilton, Express by Holiday Inn, Holiday Inn and also many independently owned budget hotels. They offer accommodation in Central London ranging from low-cost privately owned guest houses to five star global chains. Most are located close to major London attractions like the Covent Garden theatres, Madame Tussauds, Tower of London and are perfectly situated near Oxford Street, Harrods, Knightsbridge and Kensington for shopping. The rates are much below published rack rates and include local taxes, service and breakfast. We needed two rooms next to each other and the kind people at London Discount Hotel.com were really friendly and helpful. They contacted... Read review

Cheap hotel in London
Review of Regent Palace Hotel, London by  JanD1

Advantages: Location, location, location
Disadvantages: Value outweighs anything else

...Recently, my husband and I had to travel to London for a few days so were looking for somewhere reasonable to stay. We found lastminute.com advertising the Regent Palace Hotel at a very good price so booked with a bit trepidation as it was said to be in the heart of Picadilly and at £66 per night per double ensuite room, wouldn't you be sceptical? But what a great choice. OK, it wasn't the lap of luxury but when it said heart of Picadilly, they weren't kidding! You come off the underground following signs for Regent Street and there, across the road is the hotel. It's right amongst the shops, theatres and a huge entertainment complex right next door (which I've forgotten the name of). The hotel doesn't do breakfast but is attached to an Irish bar which does food all day at reasonable cost and is only a five minute walk from... Read review

The Cumberland Hotel - Marble Arch, London
Review of London Marriott Hotel Marble Arch, London by  Elaina18

Advantages: Right in the heart of London - off Oxford Street, good facilities
Disadvantages: Expensive. Room features, car parking, congestion charge

...I stayed for a business conference/exhibition - the company managed to negotiate a deal for £130 B&B delegate rate - but was quoted £195!!! Advantages - in the heart of London, next to Oxford Street - Excellent internal decoration - great foyer - Very modern bedrooms/decoration - Gary Rhodes Restaurant on site - I've eaten here before - great food but expensive/over rated! - Great bar - Great Business facilities - conference rooms/facilities - Multi-lingual staff - Great breakfast (again expensive if you were buying it separately) - Lots of rooms - plenty of availability Disadvantages - Expensive! But this is what you expect for a London 4 star hotel - try and get an internet deal/last minute booking or if you are travelling on business a company deal - Room decor - a) safety green light in the bedroom - what... Britannia Hampstead Hotel, London
Review of Britannia Hampstead Hotel, London by  missgiggles22

Advantages: none!
Disadvantages: everything!

...I stayed at this hotel when I went to London for a two night stay, it was a travel package which included coach travel down, we didn't know where we were staying until we got there and believe me if I had have known I wouldn't have gone. The outside looked okay and the lobby didn't look too bad either but then we went in our room, it was very dark and dull and very dated, it was fairly clean though. The toilet and shower were seperate the toilet needed updating also, there was tiles in it and they were cracked and looked as if they had been stuck on by somone who didn't know what they were doing. There was no bath just a stand alone shower squashed into a cupboard that was hidden with a door. The food- The travel package included breakfast and tea, there wasn't much choice, if your fussy your stuffed basically, and it was all cold... Read review

Funkiest hotel in London?
Review of Sanderson, London by  newty1977

Advantages: Very modern, trendy, full of stars
Disadvantages: Prententious City and very expensive !!

..."Sanderson Hotel" 50 Berners Street London W1T 3NG Telephone - 0207 300 1400 Fax - 0207 300 1401 Firstly, I really am not sure whether I am going to find enough superlatives to accurately describe this hotel, but we'll see how we go… ~~~~~~~ Location ~~~~~~~ The hotel is located on the northern tip of Soho on Berners Street, just off Oxford Street. The nearest tube station would be Oxford Circus, but Tottenham Court Road would not be too much farther to walk. Generally, because of where I park my car when I travel to London, Oxford Circus is an easier tube stop for me to get to this particular hotel. As you walk up Berners Street, with Oxford Street to your rear, then the hotel is located approximately 200 yards on the left hand side, beyond The Berners hotel, that you may note on the right hand side... Best Budget Hotels in London
Review of Ibis London Euston, London by  sandrabarber

Advantages: Stylish, Clean, Excellent Staff
Disadvantages: None for me

...I'm a big fan of Ibis hotels and stay in them for both business and pleasure. I had, however, read a bad opinion of the London Euston branch, so when I found myself needing to stay in Euston the other night it was with slight trepidation that I booked the Ibis. I was hoping that my several excellent experiences of the Ibis chain would hold out against the one bad experience I'd read about. LOCATION The Ibis London Euston is in Cardington Street, literally at the side of Euston Station. Weary travelers can depart their train and be at their hotel in one minute. Once in Cardington Street you can't miss the Ibis - it is a bright, stylish, continental looking building in an otherwise unprepossessing grey road. Unlike many London hotels, the Ibis Euston has a car park at the rear, and if drivers follow signs to Euston Station... Read review
