Majestic, a little tatty but ok!

Advantages: Splendid hotel in the old style
Disadvantages: Why do they have to charge for parking for residents?

...We have just returned from Harrogate after spending a lovely 3 nights at this hotel in lovely spa town of Harrogate in North Yorkshire and thoroughly enjoyed our stay, so I will try to review this hotel and the town as accurately as I can and would advise others to visit this place as it is a lovely way to spend a few days of relaxation and retail therapy! The hotel is easily located at the Northern edge of the town on a hill above the exhibition halls. It is very imposing and hails from the grand old style of hotel, large and imposing and very Victorian in character. We opted for a "leisure break" booked through Paramount's own website. Magic Majestic?

Advantages: location
Disadvantages: could offer more for that money

...My husband and I have just come back from Barcelona, where we spent 4 nights in the five-star hotel Majestic. We booked online about 2 weeks in advance and used their 3 nights for the price of 2 offer. We checked in without any problem and were shown to our room. The room itself was fine, not too small, not too stuffy. It wasn't overlooking anything spectacular, the window faced a car park, which, I suppose, was better than being woken up by the traffic of one of the most famous and busiest streets in Barcelona. There was nothing in the room, however, which would make it stand out from others. A double bed, a desk, 2 bedside tables, a wardrobe, a coffee table but no coffee or tea making facilities. A bulb in one of the bedside lamps was faulty and I asked the house-keeping to replace it. 4 nights wasn't long enough for them to fix...

Majestic, My A**e!!

...My friend and I recently had a weekend in London and had a fantastic experience with the flight, the train and the attractions visited, unfortunately we did not have a fantastic experience at the hotel we had booked. We booked the Majestic Hotel in South Kensington through laterooms.com. We booked it for its central location. Hotels wishing to fill their empty rooms use this company by considerably reducing their room rates. We thought we?d bagged a bargain as we reserved a twin room for two people staying one night for £50. We now know you get what you pay for. Even when I book a 2* hotel, I still expect a certain standard, like clean, comfortable rooms and friendly, helpful staff (as advertised on the website). Maybe I expected too much from this hotel. It?s easy enough to find, five minutes from Gloucester Road tube...

Majestic Crowned

Advantages: Great wine, great advice, great prices
Disadvantages: 12 bottle minimum

...Hurrah for Majestic. They've just won the Decanter World Wine Award as the best High Street Retailer. It's an award I'd have given them! Majestic are a strange wine retailing concept, they are small warehouses with wine piled up in its boxes, with price information balancing on top. You have to buy a minimum of 12 bottles of wine so they can keep their 'wholesaler' designation, making life easier for them, but not the casual wine shopper. Despite the stripped down approach they always have an interesting selection of wines available to taste and you can pour yourself a glass without upsetting the employees. A glass, not a nasty plastic specimen cup. The staff are very helpful though and always seem happy to chat about your wine selections, and overjoyed when asked for help in choosing wine. It could even be a minor downside...

How majestic can Majestic be?

Advantages: Old, refined, ornate art deco building with very freindly staff.
Disadvantages: Small toilets, but very clean.

...Pick up any city guide, or travel book to Porto or Portugal and one of the places to visit in Porto is The Majectic Café, on Rua de Santa Catarina. We were very lucky as our hotel was also on Rua de Catarina, so when we had put our cases in our rooms we went to look the place out. The buzz of this old 1920?s Café is just wonderful. It is full of Ladies that lunch, tourist stopping off for a picture moment and refreshment, the world and his wife are there. The outside has small round tables with delicate metal chairs two to a table, nestling under the large white sun shades. These tables are in constant perusal of the uniformed waiters who will attend your need at a moment hence. Look behind those and you see the Majestic for all it?s glory. The shinning glass with gold lettering stating ?The Majestic? ornate cherubs...

Majestic by name and by nature

Advantages: good range of very good wines, very prompt free delivery,
Disadvantages: minimum buy of 12 bottles

...I first turned to Majestic wine after realising that even if Tesco wine was fairly cheap, you paid an extra £5 for delivery on top of the price, and to be honest, their wine wasn't as good! Majestic started in 1980 in London, and we have passed their original warehouse many times when walking along the Thames on the Southwark side. There are 132 stores scattered across England, Scotland ND Wales (and another 3 in France) You can visit the wine shops in person or you can go online at majestic.co.uk I have visited Manchester and Leeds stores....both excellent. Great staff, too. On the internet site.....which is how I PREFER to shop... The first thing you notice when you look at the web page is the clear information appearing on it. There are usually discounts on offer for certain types of wine- currently there is 20% off...

...We have a local Majestic Wine warehouse near to us,but have on accoasions used there website to order wine.. I once made the mistake of going into one of there shops and picking up a few bottles of wine at a good price...proceeded to the checkout only to find they only sell in bulk (12s or more)...so feeling a little intimitadated by this i skulked out of the shop without any wine... I few months later after my expereince,I found via a websearch for "cheap wine" Majestic wine warehouse online, They offered 12 botttles of seasonal wine for about £39.99.which if you ever used Virgin/Sunday Times/The Times wines clubs,you cannot get wine cheaper only on there introductory offers... The also other great thing about it is they offer free delivery.whereas the "others" charge anything from £3.99 onwards! So I was quite enthusied about...

...I recently went on a cultural girlie trip with a friend to Paris. I was left to do all the booking. I was looking for a reasonable hotel, near a metro stop, which included breakfast. I came across the Hotel International on various travel sites and it seemed fairly highly rated so I booked us in for three nights. LOCATION: The hotel is located 6 Rue Auguste Barbier in the 11th Arrondissement. The nearest Metro stop is Garcourt which was a two minute walk away and it was a five minute walk to Republique which gives good links to other lines. It's not really central enough to avoid the Metro and walk to the attractions but it was located so close to a stop that it seemed ideal. PRICE: Prices vary depending on size of room and season. There are singles, doubles and triples available. We paid Euro254 for the whole time...

Majestic.co.uk - the king of wine shops

...I've been shopping at majestic.co.uk for over 2 years. Before that I used to buy in store but the convenience of ordering online wins every time now. Why lug boxes of wine bottles about the shop and then in an out of the car when majestic.co.uk will do that for you FREE? The website is easy to navigate. Wines are ordered by colour and country. The offers are well displayed, and frankly, always worth a look. Majestic sets out to be consumer freindly, and like Waitrose and Sainsburys, their wine buyers won't stock wines that aren't any good. You can be fairly confident that anything you buy from majestic.co.uk will be a good quality wine for the price. Yes, you have to buy 12 bottles as a minimum order but this is well worth it for the value for money offers majestic.co.uk offers. The wines on the website are exactly the same as...
