The Hidden Places of East Anglia contains a wealth of interesting information on the history, the countryside, the towns and villages and the more established places of interest. But it also promotes the more secluded and little known visitor attractions and places to stay, eat and drink many of which are easy to miss unless you know exactly where you are going. East Anglia offers plenty for the visitor to explore in real Hidden Places country. Directly to the north of London, the region has preserved much of its unspoilt character, rural landscape, architecture and traditions. It is home to England's oldest recorded town - Colchester, alongside the historic cities of Cambridge, Norwich and Peterborough. Traditional market towns and picturesque villages abound - home to fine examples of architecture - timber-framed, flint, thatch and weather-boarded buildings. Norfolk is rightly famous for the Norfolk Broads, but this county of expansive horizons also offers visitors gentle rolling hills, a beautiful coastline with picturesque views and countryside rich in wildlife and nature. Suffolk is blessed with incomparable rural beauty. Meandering tidal rivers and numerous streams, brooks and gullies intersect a land blended with low hills and vast open spaces. Suffolk was made famous by the brush of John Constable and his paintings reflect the sheer beauty and tranquillity of this attractive county. Essex is a county that has rich maritime history going back as far as Roman Times, and in Colchester, possesses the oldest recorded town in England. Cambridgeshire is most famous for its ancient university as well as being the birthplace of Oliver Cromwell and Samuel Pepys. We include hotels, bed & breakfasts, restaurants, pubs, bars, teashops and cafes as well as historic houses, museums, gardens and many other attractions throughout the area, all of which are comprehensively indexed.
Advantages: The service is exceptional Disadvantages: May seem expensive to some people but worth saving for in my opinion
...~~Maritim Hotel, Mauritius~~
~Why this hotel:
In 2007 my partner and I were invited to our best friends wedding in Mauritius, it was something we definitely did not want to miss or something we did not date miss because my partner was the best man.
We did have the option to pick our own hotel but we decided the best choice would be for us to stay in the same all-inclusive hotel with our friends...
Advantages: Offers a good bargain break in the UK Disadvantages: Nothing major
...The Great British Seaside resorts are not quite as popular as they were some decades ago; however, we have enjoyed numerous short British holiday breaks. Many holiday abroad because they love the sunshine; we (oddly enough) holiday in the UK because we like the changing seasons. A lot of the run of the mill hotels offering budget breaks and bargain weekends offer a decent service for a very...
Advantages: beautiful, lovely weather, port aventura, aquaopolis, day trips to barcelona, cheap, safe area, bonavista market, close to airport Disadvantages: rush for sunbeds in the morning!
...parks, we only visited port caribee, which is part of port aventura, which was enjoyable but involved a great deal of queing and sunburn!
There were plenty more activities offered by both the hotel and the area, such as swimming with sea lions and a variety of sports.
The Princess Maritim hotel is the best hotel i have ever stayed in, although only 3 stars it feels like at least four...
