Everything you would expect from a 4 star hotel

Advantages: Location, facilities, standards
Disadvantages: Not really suitable for families

...Excellent location right on the beach, good facilities and used for business conferences too. Food is good although can be repetitive, I would suggest bed and breakfast, they offer an excellent choice for breakfast. Very relaxed friendly service, although I do feel at times this was slow, one member of staff didnt speak very good English I wouldnt have minded but they were not local either, think they need to look at this in a 4 star hotel. The rooms are of a good standard and very clean, towels etc changed daily. There is internet access from your room if you want it or you can use the hotels payable pcs for interenet. I would say for standards and location and also luxury I would rate this a 4 star plus. The hotel is located amongst 5 star hotels with a number of restaurants, bars and tourist shops nearby, there is also a bus stop...

Esperides - Hotel of Excellence

Advantages: Family Fun
Disadvantages: None

.... If you venture out of the hotel, there is a bus-stop at the entrance, one side of the road takes you to Rhodes Town (7 Euros for 4 people), or on the other side of the road you can go to Falaraki, we taxied it there and it cost 5 Euros each way. In Falaraki there is a place called Luna Park which is a big Amusement Park for the children, so that makes a nice change. Across the road and a 5 minute walk away is the Aqua Park, this cost us 60 Euros for the four of us for the day, but it was a great day out and there rides were brilliant. A five minute walk the other way takes you to a Shopping Centre where there is an abundance of shops, bars, restaurants for you to explore, all very cheap, especially for lace and jewellery. Across the road to the Hotel, is the hotel's nature park, although not massive, they do have tigers and a variety...

Rodos Village - Rhodes

Advantages: Family friendly, all inclusive, next to beach
Disadvantages: Insects in rooms, no cash machine, not enough toilets

...Last week I came back from a holiday in Greece. We went to Rhodes and stayed in the Rodos Village in Kiotari. The Rodos Village is a 5 star all-inclusive resort which is situated in the east west coast of the island. We took a taxi from the airport to the hotel (this was a pre-paid transfer from our holiday provider) The taxi took around an hour to get to the hotel. Since our flight was overnight, we arrived at the airport at 4.45am, so it was great to hop into a taxi and get to the hotel quicker than the coach would have taken. We got to the hotel at around 6am. There are not only steps up to the hotel, but also a ramp. It was quite steep but it meant that I could wheel my bag up instead of carrying up the steps (always good if you're tired!) Check in was quick. No one was around at that time since it was so early, there was...

Classical Rhodes

Advantages: A book of sumptuous recipes many of which are used in Rhodes' own restaurants.
Disadvantages: Recipes are generally for more people than you find in the average family.

...I?ve always had a soft spot for Gary Rhodes right from his first series for the BBC back in 1994. No, it wasn?t the spiky hair (which I hated) or the puppyish charm (which grated) it was the fact that it did seem that the man could actually cook and his love of the food shone through in everything that he prepared. It didn?t even worry me that he?s thin when no chef has the right to be thin. He?s a cook; it?s what his life is about, whether he?s appearing on television, running his restaurants and brasseries or writing books. They are all part of a seamless whole. Go into the kitchens of his brasseries and you could well find that the chefs are working from photocopied pages from my latest find: his ?New British Classics?. First published in 1999 ?New British Classics? is not just a cook book; it?s a work of scholarship too...

Atlantica Princess - Rhodes

Advantages: see summary in review
Disadvantages: see summary in review

...~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Atlantica Princess Hotel ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I have just returned from two weeks staying at the Atlantica Princess in Rhodes and had such a wonderful time that I felt compelled to write this review. Rhodes is a Greek Island which is situated in the eastern Aegean Sea just 11 miles from the Turkish Coast (on clear days you get a magnificent view of Turkey). Our choice of this hotel and destination was purely through last minute panic at the beginning of the year where we realised that everywhere was quickly getting booked up! We began hunting through the various Thomsons brochures whilst checking availability on the internet. We were attracted to the all inclusive package that the Atlantica Princess offered as it worked out at around £12 on top of half board per adult per day and £8 on top of half board...

Lindos, Rhodes

Advantages: Quiet enough but with the option of a more lively time. The food, the people, the beaches and the weather,
Disadvantages: Hills may not be suitable for some people. The weather, sometimes it can be TOO hot.

...I'm tempted not to say how good Lindos is just in case too many people start going there! I returned to Rhodes after visiting Lindos 10 years ago, I'd always said I'd go back, I just wish I'd not left it so long. The village can only be described as picturesque, set into a hillside and made up of small, white, flat roofed houses, most of which are hundreds of years old. Overlooking the village is the ancient Acropolis, well worth a trip upto, though walking is a bit of a trek. You can take a donkey up there but personally, I find it a bit cruel to have some poor animal carry my 14 stone up a mountain. The other consideration is that you can easily get ringworm off them!! During a two week stay, we visited many restaurants and I can honestly say, I didn't find a bad one among them, though I can recommend Villa Della Pasta, near...

Emerald, a Jewel in the Mediterranean.

Advantages: Excellent value at the price.
Disadvantages: Few trimmings

...Never have I had such a miserable start to a holiday. It was just over a year ago, and I was feeling jaded and tired when I saw on the internet a cutprice Thomson cruise holiday in the Mediterranean. I had no hesitation in booking at once. Later, I got the brochure which confirmed my opinion that the twelve day holiday on the cruise ship Emerald was going to be somewhat downmarket, but at the price I didn?t mind that. It was costing me only £729, all inclusive. If that sounds a lot, ask yourself where you could find an all-inclusive hotel for that price. I had to join the Emerald at Palma, Majorca, and the journey was dreadful. The charter flight to Palma had been scheduled for mid-morning, giving me time to get to Gatwick from my home in Oxfordshire, but almost at the last minute it was changed to 05.45, and I felt I could not ask...

The Best of Gary Rhodes

Advantages: We know him and love him
Disadvantages: none!

...Author Introduction Most people are familiar with Gary Rhodes, a top class chef and a regular on television programmes. I have not seen him on television for a while now, so maybe a short introduction is in order. Gary?s love of cooking goes back to his childhood. At the tender age of thirteen, he cooked a special pudding for his family. His passion for cooking led him into a career as a chef, attending a catering college in Broadstairs, Kent, where he became top of his class. Landing a job at the Hilton Hotel in Amsterdam, his career nearly ended when he was run over by a tram and required brain surgery. Thankfully, he made a recovery, returning to Britain in 1984 to work at the Capital Hotel. He had several jobs and numerous awards. The prestigious Catey award (the caterings equivalent to the Oscars) was awarded to him, for his...

Excursions from Rhodes

Advantages: So much on offer! Not just Greece.
Disadvantages: None

...So you may have heard of the Greek Island of Rhodes, but have you heard about the many and varied excursions available? In September 2000 my fiance and I went off on a fortnights holiday to the island. We stayed in an unfinished hotel in the resort of Trianda on the North West coast, on an all inclusive basis, all food, drinks and entertainment included. The holiday had been booked for almost a year so you can imagine our disappointment on arrival to see the hotel half built. What were we to do? Go off on excursions, that's what we did! The first of many was to Marmaris, but that's in Turkey you may be thinking. Indeed it is! Rhodes is only an hour away from Marmaris by catamaran, a reasonably inexpensive crossing, about £15 per person. If that sounds expensive just think how much money you can save on shopping in the resort...

Rhodes in a Nutshell

Advantages: Golden sandy beaches, great weather, great food
Disadvantages: Euro has made it a little more expensive

...however advise that you go and see it either early morning or late afternoon as the heat does become stifling. RHODES TOWN Rhodes town stands on the same site as the ancient town, although is probably slightly smaller nowadays. Construction of the ancient city began in 408 BC so the new town has history stretching back over 2,400 years. Rhodes is home to golden, sandy beaches and plenty of hotels, restaurants, greek tavernas, bars and nightclubs. The medieval town is still in use by some 6,000 people who work and live in the buildings. It is by no means deserted. The medieval town is divided up into two parts which was made up in the times of the Knights. The northern part is known as the Castello or Collachium. This contains the official buildings. The southern part is known as Chora ? this is where the Greeks, Europeans...
