...'t naïve, I knew that going away with 3 friends meant his was going to be a party holiday. So I was prepared. Luckily enough our hotel apartment was 5 minutes away from some of Playa De Las Americas most popular clubs and this meant we got to know the area relatively well. It is based in the Starco centre which is a like a commercial block building holding numerous bars and clubs as well as take-away joints. This makes it easy to move from one place to the next and it looks like one big party from the outside. Luckily for some most of the taxis tend to collate in this area meaning it is always easy to get home after a long night of partying. Playa de San Juan - An excellent hotel

Advantages: Friendly staff, lovely pool, clean room
Disadvantages: Dynamic currency conversion on our room costs paid by debit card

...We chose to visit the Holiday Inn Alicante Playa de San Juan for a week in July after having three very pleasant stays in Express by Holiday Inns in the UK. We were not sure what to expect in terms of quality, however it was probably one of the best hotels that we have ever stayed in. The cost was ?94 per night for an en suite room with king size bed and an ?almost double? sofa bed. The room was on the third floor of the hotel and had a view of another apartment block to the rear of the hotel. However, this did not cause any problems as the apartments were quite a distance from the hotel, therefore not blocking the panoramic view. THE HOTEL The hotel building is over 7 floors: the ground floor, floors 1 to 5 and a floor called '-1'. If you are given a room on the '-1' floor, don't think that they are shoving you in...

...A group of 11 friends & I (all in the age group of 17-21) went to Playa De Las Americas during July 2000. This one holiday has changed my entire opinion on 'clubbing' holidays. The question is what should you expect for £350 per person for one week? All will be explained.... We're all young, stupid, straped for cash & up for a laugh. Our first mistake was booking through Travel Choice in Camberley. The 'not so bright' travel agent told us that for cheap drinks & good clubs Tenerife was perfect. We'd all watched Tenerife uncovered and thought what a laugh it looks, so we went for it signed on the dotted line. Travel Choice kindly took £350 from each of us and then we waited in excitement for the time to come. When the time came we got on our 4 1/2 hour flight from Gatwick. An Insiders Guide to Playa De las Americas!!

Advantages: Sun, sand relaxing by the pool!

...Last summer I worked as an entertainer in Tenerife after 7 months I now know a lot about this holiday resort yet it has only just occurred to me to write a review about it. I was based in Playa de Las Americas, at the South of the Island, famous for ?Veronica?s Strip?, the main street in the heart of the resort full of pubs and clubs. I am not going to paint you an unrealistic picture, if you ant to go somewhere attractive, lush and green I suggest you stay in the North of the Island perhaps on Puerto Della Cruse. Playa De Las Americas is aimed for the young, I would advise families to stay in a hotel just out side perhaps in Torviscas or Los Cristianos it will be a lot quieter in evenings but close enough to sight see in the day and to go for a pleasant evening meal. ...February 2009. Playa Caleta is rated a 4 star. Sunwing Travel advertises it as a Sunwing Club Exclusive...whatever that means? We would call it the ?Club Torture? The hotel has a spacious, open-concept lobby on two levels. The lobby and the rest of the hotel are filled with cigarette smoke. When we asked the front desk staff if there was any non-smoking public areas, they answered with giggles as they held their lit cigarettes below the counter. This is supposed to be a family hotel; if you or your children can survive the second-hand smoke that saturates everything, you will still have a family. Buses idled right in front of the open hotel entrance, filling the lobby with carbon monoxide. As we discovered, vehicles in Cuba have no exhaust standards. ...Lagotel Hotel- Alcudia, Majorca Flight 2 hours from Cardiff to Palma, with first choice passed by quickly thank-goodness not a flyer! Transfer This took approx 50 minutes. Resort On arrival check-in was efficient and staff polite but a little stern looking. The hotel is outside Alcudia in Playa De Muro but the buses are regular and cheap to the strip. The hotel as a courtesy bus to the beach, which is lovely, shallow and white sand and ample sun beds and umbrellas. Tabourente playa la palma. lovely hotel..... thats about it!

Advantages: incredibly clean, lots of room for guests, good VFM

...there is a neighbouring hotel also in the H10 group, a small gift shop, a Spar supermarket and a scuba diving store. If you walked out of the hotel, to the left and carried on past the pharmacy, you will come to a bar called Tasca Alavasca which provided good evening drinks and a nice meal, wasnt too expensive either. If you go out the hotel, take a right, then first right you will come to a beach bar called Lambada, again really nice bar, reasonably priced drinks but we found that thats all there was to do on the island, Thompson do offer excursions around the island but its mainly tours consisting of looking at the country side and a whale watch with me needing leg opperation i couldnt really do anything but i did try out the 'roque de los muchachos' trip which is very highly recommended! In conclusion, the H10 Tabourente playa is a lovely...

Torviscas Playa is Top!

Advantages: Great location, Near beach, Attentive & happy staff and good food.
Disadvantages: Cold Pool, Built up Area, Noisy Road, Dinner gets packed

...We have just returned from the Torviscas Playa (September 2007). On first impressions, I wasn't sure as the building looking like it needed a little paint. However, once inside the hotel is clean and well kept with shiny marble floors everywhere. The Reception staff are efficient and really friendly. On arrival the Hotel supplies a small token orange drink, which we thought was a nice touch. The Hotel is in Costa Adeje and is very near to shops, bars, restaurants and a pharmacist. Playa das Americas is not that far away but you would need a taxi. There is even a Pharmacist across the road. Its very close to the beach and there are steps from the hotel, so not good for prams but you can get to the beach another way, which takes an extra 5mins. The Reception and bar area on the ground floor is very spacious with comfortable sofas...
