A hotel in the heart of New York City

Advantages: Great Location, Clean and Friendly Staff
Disadvantages: Views from hotel itself not great, no free wi fi

...My boyfriend turned 30 a few weeks ago and for his present I booked us a trip to New York and the Wellington Hotel is where I picked for us to stay due to its central location in Manhattan. Last Wednesday we flew out to NYC and checked into the Wellington. If you didn't know already this is where part of the Borat film was made, the main scene being where he tries to unpack his things in the lift thinking its his room and so many Borat jokes ensued in the elevators during our stay. The location of the hotel is amazing, its a 1 minute walk from Carnegie Hall, 2 minutes from Central Park and 5 minutes from Times Square and is located on the corner of 55th Street and 7th Avenue.   A Hotel for the New Century

Advantages: The view, and erm everything else, but the view mainly!
Disadvantages: Too many mirrorerd walls - it's a hazard!

...Who wouldn?t enjoy a few days wandering around New York, taking in the sights and sounds of one of the most famous places on earth? Central Park, the Empire State and Chrysler Buildings?Broadway, Times Square and the hustle and bustle of lower Manhattan? I have been to New York many times on business over the years but had never really spent more than a few hours of free time getting to know the place so when my husband suggested we have a long weekend there recently I bit his arm off! Mind you, those business trips had served me well because I knew quite a few of the central hotels and also knew how poor value they can be: how basic and uninteresting and how noisy many of them can be as the sirens wail past them through the night. Bentley Hotel - New York New York!!!!

Advantages: Clean, nice rooms - amazing views from roof top balcony
Disadvantages: 24 Hour coffee bar was actually a vending machine!!

...My lovely husband booked a short stay in New York for my ?surprise? 30th birthday. This was in 2002 and we went there at the beginning of October of that year. Just as a side note before I start the review of the hotel, the weather was fantastic and for much of the time we went out regularly in T-shirts. Anyway we stayed at The Bentley Hotel for the whole of our stay and overall we were impressed and enjoyed our time there. **ABOUT THE HOTEL** The Bentley is a 3 star hotel which was built in 1904 and last renovated in 2002, however I have a feeling some renovation may be going on now as the roof top restaurant has been closed until further notice. Milford Plaza : Okay for the rate we paid

Advantages: Deli and Pub downstairs, near to Times Square/Broadway
Disadvantages: Quite noisy, room was basic

...I stayed at the Milford Plaza on my first trip to New York and had no idea about the city at all. The hotel looks great from the lobby with escalators from the street level and it has a deli, gift shop and pub right underneath. There was always someone on duty by the lifts, always checking that you had a room key so it was fairly secure. It was in a great location, right on Times Square and next to the Broadway Theatres so there was lots to do right on your doorstep. The rooms however were disappointing, and we didn't even have any power when we made it up there. It was quickly resolved though and we were able to settle in. Our room was pretty basic - just the beds, a chair and tv on a stand - and I kept getting a static shock whenever I opened the door from walking on the carpet. ...Booking a hotel in New York can be a somewhat bewildering experience - there is far too much choice! This can be a burden -your choice of hotel can make or break a holiday and with such a wonderful city as New York, it becomes even more important. We booked 5 nights at the Milford Plaza Hotel, located on West 45th Street in the heart of Midtown Manhattan. The location could not have been better - the hotel is in Broadway's Theatre District, and just a few minutes stroll to Times Square. The hotel's lobby is large and impressive, well-decorated and always busy - don't worry if you arrive about 1am (like we did), the lobby and reception area is still well-populated - well, it is the city that never sleeps! Hudson Hotel, New York

Advantages: Great bars, good standard of customer care
Disadvantages: Quite expensive

...My husband and I stayed a the Hudson during September 2008, on my first trip to the states. We were away for 2 weeks, of which 5 nights were spent at the Hudson. This meant that we could compare this hotel to several others in the US, including one other in New York. Generally, the Hudson came out of this very well! We booked the Hudson online, through hotels.com, a procedure which was nice and simple and allowed us to look at several different hotels before making our choice. We were initially attracted to the Hudson because of it's easily accessible location and because the pictures we found on the internet made it look unlike anywhere we had stayed before! Edison hotel New York

Advantages: Rooms are spacious, clean, fresh and everyone is so friendly.
Disadvantages: No disadvantges, loved this place.

...I visited this hotel with my school in February 2007 and there was a group of 40 with 5 teachers. The group included boys and girls, there were very welcoming when we arrived after a long flight from England and getting up a 4.30. They allowed us up to our rooms, which where very spacious and comfortable. They had big double beds, which could have easily have fitted three people in. The bathroom was spacious and clean with lovley hot water for when we took a shower in the morning and after a long weary day. They provided us with big white fluffy towels to use after our bath and shower and layed out complimenatry gifts for us to use. The hotel is just round the corner from Times Square which is buzzing all the time with the bright lights. I recommend you visit this hotel, with its friendly staff and comfortable beds....

Victoria Park Plaza Hotel, London It's More Than A Hotel!

Advantages: Pleasant Staff, Good Customer Service, Nice Breakfast
Disadvantages: Expensive

...The Victoria Park Plaza in London is an amazing hotel that has very comfortable, quality rooms and staff who are friendly and professional. The best thing about The Victoria Park Plaza is that it is in a prime position just two minutes from Victoria Station and an easy walk to some of London's main attractions. I found it perfect for shopping and buying souvenirs. There were also quite a number of restaurants close by and my mum who cannot walk far didn't complain once. Although we ate at the hotel we also sampled London's China Town. It is a four star hotel and lives up to the standard. It is situated close to Buckingham Palace, Harrods, Westminster Abbey and Houses of Parliament. The hotel does not allow smoking anywhere near the building which my mum and I really appreciated because we are both none smokers. The smoking ban made...

Fab priced hotel in the thick of New York City!

Advantages: Cheap, right by Times Square, friendly staff
Disadvantages: Rooms may be too small for some fussy travellers!

...When I was booking a holiday for my partner and I to go to New York, I did a lot of research about hotels, locations, sight-seeing spots etc and then tried to find the best one out of a huge list I made. I didn't want to pay a lot for the hotel because I knew we wouldn't be in it much, and when I saw the Best Western name, I thought it would be a good idea to stick with what I know! So I booked 4 nights in this hotel in December 2005, my second trip to the fantastic NYC. We easily got a transfer from the airport, and gave the driver the address which I had printed out before we left the UK. We speedily set off into the manic NYC traffic in our little yellow cab, and were there within about 1 hour, not bad considering the traffic! The hotel had a nice frontage, it was all gold, had loads of Christmas lights and little Christmas trees...

Location: as previously mentioned situated in one of the most dynamic sections of New York City 228 West 47th Street, Directly in the middle of New York which means little walking distance to wherever you may want to venture.
