...Introduction to the hotel: The Royal Albion Hotel was built in 1826 and is situated in a fantastic location opposite Brighton pier. It is a three star hotel and has 186 guest rooms offering views of Brighton beach or the town centre. My experience of the hotel: I spent one night in the hotel in January of this year and for a three star hotel I was quite impressed. I and my girlfriend booked a double room for £55 and it was a spacious room with a four poster bed, couch, satellite television, fridge, tea and coffee making facilities and a lovely modern bathroom with a Jacuzzi bath. When we checked in the hotel staff asked us if we would like to upgrade to a room with a Jacuzzi batch for £10, we said no, but were a bit intrigued to find one anyways - they had obviously given our room away and were trying to get the extra £10 out...

Royal Terrace Hotel

Advantages: Great location, lovely entrance areas
Disadvantages: very shabby in bedrooms

...there is a hotel with a similar name. We tried to get in (it was locked) and even buzzed for the porter- too late we noticed the sign telling us that this was not the Royal Terrace Hotel. We found our hotel a bit further down the street, and after parking the car, went in. I have to mention that a down side to this hotel is that it doesn?t have a car park, and the car has to be parked on the street. Royal connections but not that luxurious -Durham Marriott hotel

...Durham Marriot Hotel Royal County Old Elvert, Durham DH1 3JN A BIT OF SCENE SETTING: This hotel is part of the Marriott chain but is an old hotel which was once the home of Elizabeth Bowes an ancestor of the Queen Mother. Apparently it was often visited when it was privately owned by Edward VII when he was up in Durham. It has had quite a large series of extensions and now boasts 150 bedrooms, some of which are suites and family rooms all and have en suite bathrooms ( As you might expect in a hotel I would have thought). This is a four star hotel right in the centre of Durham so perfect for a city break as you can park your car in the hotel (complimentary) car park and walk round the city which is very compact and just a hop over the road from the hotel. This is one of my memories of the Kombo Beach Hotel where I stayed when I visited the Gambia. We were a little concerned visiting Africa with the children, especially as we were on honeymoon at the time and the kids were really too little to be on their own. Since this part of the beach, known as Beach Royal Kenz, actually belongs to the Hotel if you do not wish to take any Money onto the beach with you then you can simply sign the receipt and pay at the Hotel Reception. ANY PROBLEMS? Well there were certainly no major problems but obviously if you look close enough you will find little things. On arrival we found that the TV in our Room did not work and there was no Plug in the Bathroom. However after reporting both of these things to Reception both issues were attended to promptly. The TV simply needed a new battery in the Remote Control. OTHER INFORMATION The Royal Kenz Hotel is owned by Iberostar who have Hotels around the World including France, Australia and Mexico. The hotel is nice, but it is very tired looking. It is situated on its own beach which is good, and they were always plenty of sun loungers, which was good considering the amount of people in the hotel. After a few days, I realised why. ...If you are looking for a relaxed holiday with not too many frills then the Ledra Beach is for you. Its a friendly and inviting hotel with excellent food I have to say.....probably one of the best advantages of this hotel. The accommodation is a little tired but nontheless comfortable and clean. An animation team keep you entertained day and night with a few outside acts a couple of times a week. Aqua aerobics, childrens games, quizzes keep you occupied through the day.
