...We stayed at the Chancellor Hotel by accident! We had hotel vouchers for our visit to San Francisco but the hotel we stayed in on our first night was so awful (and in one of the more dangerous areas of the city - we heard that the street on which it was situated had the highest murder rate in San Francisco!) that we decided to ring San Francisco Reservations, a hotel broker mentioned in our guide book. Hotel brokers basically rent out hotel rooms at short notice at lower than advertised prices. That is how we were able to stay in the Chancellor, which is a 3 star hotel, for $50 per night! According to the hotel's website, special room rates start at $125 per night, so we definitely got a good deal by going through San Francisco Reservations! ...Let's face it. The biggest attraction for guests to the San Remo Hotel in San Francisco is the price. For anyone traveling on budget, it offers a bed and plumbing facilities at a rate that won't break the bank of someone with limited resources. I had stayed there when my British girlfriend, Jayne, came to visit a couple years ago. Even though it lacks most of the amenities offered by today's hotels, it has one other attraction newer ones don't have: ghosts. My boyfriend's, Russell's, birthday was coming up. ...We chose to visit the Holiday Inn Alicante Playa de San Juan for a week in July after having three very pleasant stays in Express by Holiday Inns in the UK. We were not sure what to expect in terms of quality, however it was probably one of the best hotels that we have ever stayed in. The cost was €94 per night for an en suite room with king size bed and an “almost double” sofa bed. The room was on the third floor of the hotel and had a view of another apartment block to the rear of the hotel. However, this did not cause any problems as the apartments were quite a distance from the hotel, therefore not blocking the panoramic view. THE HOTEL The hotel building is over 7 floors: the ground floor, floors 1 to 5 and a floor called '-1'. If you are given a room on the '-1' floor, don't think that they are shoving you... ...This is a review of Radisson Ambassador hotel in Condado, San Juan in the island of Puerto Rico. I have just visited this beautiful island on a short vacation - I was there for 5 days. The flight from New York was about 4 hours. The First Impression: When I first arrived in Condado which is a hotel area of the city of San Juan on the north part of the coast, I was a little dissapointed. The neighbourhood of the hotel looked a bit dingy and run down. I took a short walk to the beach which is a block away and the street was dirty, old rusty cars parked on the street - you get the picture. The beach turned out to be tiny, nothing to shout about. The hotel however, I was impressed with. It was clean and looked well taken care of. Fortunately, my first impression was erased once I found out there is a much bigger beach a short walk... ...My wife and I have just spent a week at the Castilla and have returned home very disappointed with the hotel itself and the concrete jungle in which it resides. To start with the pluses: The hotel is spotlessly clean - though we did find in our room a cockroach of the sort of proportions which might have got it some extra work in the film "Alien". The cleaning staff and indeed all the female staff working in the hotel were helpful and efficient, pleasant to talk to and always wore a smile. Anything else? hmmm the lifts worked! None of the male staff measured up to the female. Surly, unhelpful and distant are the kindest words I can find. The food was poor - it was never served warm. Maybe it is a Spanish tradition to serve mashed potato and vegetables cold. If so it is not one that I have encountered before. The shops in the area... Read review

...Just got back from a lovely holiday in San Francisco where we stayed at the York Hotel at 940 Sutter Street, just 4 blocks from the central Union Square area and only 2 blocks from the major transport stops at Powell Street. History: Built in the 1920s, the hotel still has many of its original features, including Bakerlite electrical fittings and ceramic solid baths. It also has a history. If you're a Hitchcock film fan you'll love the fact that Vertigo was filmed here and you will spot the square white hotel staircase used in the film as James Stewart suffers an attack of Vertigo. Also perseved are two of the rooms associated with the film (rooms 301 and 501, also referred to as the Vertigo Room and the Kim Novak room respectively) both of which can be rented for an additional cost and contain posters and photos taken from... ...This hotel is of an excellent standard. I work in the travel industry so would say I have very high standards. The decor of the hotel is of a very high standard and the service is second to none. This hotel deserves the 5* rating I have given it. It has entertainment to suit all age groups and you can be as busy or quiet as you want to. I would return to this property again without any hesitation. The pool area is very large and appealing. More than adequant sun loungers for guests. The food is of a very high standard and I found it catered for all tastes. You could eat plainly or really let your taste buds run wild. It is ideal as a family or couple. It is set at the quieter (and in my opinion, nicer) end of puerto Del Carmen were you find nice coves for bathing. It is also very easy to get in and out of the main centre of the resort.... ...I stayed at the Pickwick with 3 friends in April 2007. It's a very pleasant hotel situated within walking distance of the cable car turnaround and Union Square, and can't be faulted for it's price given the fairly central location for shopping/business. It's probably about 20 minutes to Fishermans Wharf via cable car from here. The general area felt safe at night, it was very, very quiet in terms of people being around - probably due to the fact that most surrounding buildings were retail/office space. There were a few homeless people near the hotel, but having visited many cities on our US tour, it's pretty obvious that San Francisco is one of the worst hit places. It seems that someone wants a dollar every 50 yards in San Francisco. The room which we had was situated at the rear of the building away from the road, so was quiet... Read review

...The hotel is based right in the centre of san antonio the worlds 'Dance Capital'. It offers a wide range of attractions: from its large promenade and the main local beach (San Antonio beach), to the great variety of international restaurants, pubs and funfairs at the bay area, as well as the public transport and ferries that will whisk you off to the most beautiful beaches in Ibiza. San Antonio is where fun is... there is no excuse not to sunbathe at golden sand beaches and enjoy Ibiza's magical nights out. The hotel offers 142 comfortable rooms which can sleep up to 3 people, half of the rooms have balconies and all have facilities such as tv, toilet, shower, fridge, safe and cleaning equipment if needed.
