Walking Among Ghosts in Santa Fe Style
Advantages: Beautiful small city in a dramatic desert and mountain landscape
Disadvantages: Expensive and somewhat pretentious, having lost the laid-back attitude of the past
.... It has been my personal pleasure to come away from shopping excursions at the Santa Fe Flea Market bearing such prizes as traditional Native American jewelry, African baskets, Mexican blankets, handmade toys from Ecuador, handcrafted silver earrings from Canyon Road, pine nuts harvested by local farmers, and a rather shabby lamp being sold out of someone’s car boot. I admit to being a bit impulsive with that last purchase, but the rest were bargains every bit as good as I hoped they’d be. Still, for perspective visitors to this mecca of consumerism, the traditional warning of “caveat emptor” is well remembered.

Santa Fe - The New Mexican Experience
Advantages: Positive, welcoming atmosphere. Delicious Food
Disadvantages: Overcrowding on Saturday nights
...Recently my friend and I decided to treat ourselves by dining at Santa Fe, a New Mexican variation restaurant based in Reading, Berkshire. It has an optimum spot on The Riverside within Reading's Oracle Shopping Centre and offers outside seating for that Al Fresco experience or inside dining amongst their reasonably bright and exuberant interior settings - definitely adhering to the vibrancy of the Mexican atmosphere. We chose to go into Reading on a Saturday night planning to eat around 9pm so we were expecting things to be reasonably busy.
There are a total of several other Santa Fe restaurants located across the country, others placed within Birmingham, Bluewater, Nottingham and Portsmouth and although each venue is supposed to be slightly different in style and décor they are quoted as offering the same levels of service...

Santa Fe - It Disney get cheaper than this!
Advantages: Value for Money
Disadvantages: Basic Facilities, Restaurant
...I stayed in the Hotel Santa Fe in September with my boyfriend for three nights as part of a package booked through the Disneyland Paris website. This was the cheapest Disneyland hotel and the package was very good value - we got 3 nights at the hotel, breakfast included plus four days park tickets for both the Disneyland park and Walt Disney Studios for £292 for 2 of us. This was on the Early Booker September deal. To buy four days of park tickets for 2 adults (yes, it was 2 adults, no kids!) would cost £242 (based on the website prices for a 3 day hopper ticket (£89 each) plus a one day hopper ticket (£32 each)), so the hotel worked out at an incredibly cheap £16 a night for two of us. Bearing this in mind, although the Santa Fe was not the most luxurious hotel I have stayed in, and a lot more basic than the Newport Bay hotel (one...

My Santa Fe
Advantages: Comfortable ,Great Vision
Disadvantages: petrol consumption
...Hyundai Santa Fe----2.4 CDX (petrol)
Now you wonder why would I go for a 4x4 well try spending a winter in Livingston then you will see. Last January we had some major snow fall and because I work in Edinburgh I tend to drive in. Well I had a Hyundai Coupe and let me tell you that car did not like the snow . Looked out my window in the morning and the snow was about 6/7 inch deep.
Tried to get it out of the street with no luck so had to take the day off work. That's when I decided I would get the 4x4.
I went to my local Hyundai dealer as they have provided me with excellent service in the past and explained to them my dilemma. They suggested the 4x4 Santa Fe. So took it out for a spin and loved it straight away it got off it's mark quick enough this is important for me as I stay in a place with lots of roundabouts so pick off...

7-seat Santa Fe-- a 4x4 that doesn't drink fuel!
Advantages: Lovely to drive, looks great and reasonable fuel efficiency.
Disadvantages: Hard to manoeuvre in the dark.
...I will hold my hand up now and admit I drive a 4x4. I do not live in the wilds of scotland or up some inaccesible lane but I do have an excuse, I tow a family caravan. I need my vehicle as a work horse as dragging the caravan (very slowly) behind a Mondeo up a hill once was enough to send me out to the car dealershipsfor something with a bit more grunt!
I am now on my second Santa Fe. The first one I had from new for 5 years. I had a problem when it was quite new and the clutch kept slipping whilst towing. This was a recognised fault and the whole clutch was replaced under the warranty. In the later years it developed an electrical problem with the dashboard lights which irritated but didn't effect the performance of the car. The only reason I changed to the newer model was because family commitments meant that sometimes 5 seats were...

Santa Fe Review
Advantages: great staff and food
Disadvantages: not enough of them about
...Santa Fe is not a mexican restruant, but a 'new' mexican restruant so don't go in and expect to order your chicken fijitas or your nachos. they do however serve enchilladas and quesadillas. 95% of the food cooked at santa fe is cooked from fresh and it is all cooked on the kitchen line by fully trained chefs. Your average wait for food (dependant on what is ordered) is around the 15 minutes mark, unless of corse you order a well done steak.
The selection of food goes across the board from salads, to enchilladas and linguine pasta through to steaks, aswell as accomidating for the sea food lovers, with red snapper, salmon seafood platers and paella.
the service at santa fe is very good, and the waiters are always making sure that you are as happy as possible. if i had to reccomend a dish it'd have to be a santa fe homemade burger...

Hotel Miranda, Santa Ponsa
Advantages: nice location, necessary amenities
Disadvantages: noisy surroundings at times
...Hotel Miranda is a small quaint hotel. the staff are quite friendly, although not always on hand, the hotel can feel desolate at times.
The swimming pool is lovely, although not heated so can be cold. The hotel has a nice bar, although quite expensive.
Morning buffet breakfast is served with nice simple food which can be eaten on the beautiful terrace.
The rooms are quite basic, but hold all the necessary amenities (eg shower, double bed etc. However, at night it can get quite noisy, especially with children staying in the hotel, and with the locals outside.
The hotel is situated near to the santa ponsa's tourist and beach area, with all the amenities nearby. However, the hotel is located in what appears to be an alley road, so the smell of rubbish/bins can become quite bad when the whether is hot.
I found santa ponsa itself to be...

Santa's melted!
Advantages: smells gorgeous, a bit different, fun to use
Disadvantages: melts easily
...I first bought one of Lush's Strawberry Santa Shower Jellies last year. Out of all of the Christmas products, I think it was the one that immediately appealed to me. I love strawberry fragranced products, and I'm glad Lush have brought this out, as I've not been too keen on any of the Body Shop strawberry stuff, and a lot of the cheaper brands smell quite artificial. I know it's a little early to be talking about Christmas products, however I thought I'd write the review now, in case anyone is considering this for a present idea or just a treat for themselves!
This was the first ever Lush shower jelly I used, and unfortunately it had leaked in the box, meaning I only had about half left, and the tub had become quite messy, so I wanted it used and out of the way! I did email Lush to tell them what happened and received both an apology...

Being Santa
Advantages: Entertaining for adults and children
Disadvantages: Silly...but what do you expect?
...Scott Calvin works for a toy firm while struggling with his ex-wife for custody of his son, Charlie. When Charlie comes to spend Christmas with him, Scott is reluctant to join in with the Christmas spirit. Then on Christmas Eve he accidentally kills Santa by knocking him off the roof, and, by wearing Santa's clothes, immediately enters into a contract to replace him. But after an evening of delivering presents with Charlie, Scott puts it all down to a dream...until the next year when he suddenly puts on weight and begins to resemble Santa Claus. Will he accept that he is now Santa Claus and the responsiblities that go along with it?
Although this is very far from the type of film I would usually watch - I like horrors and thrillers - there is something about the run up to Christmas that makes me want to watch something frivolous...

"Welcome to the Hotel Santa Rita"
Advantages: Quiet, relaxed, small hotel with high standards, efficient friendly staff
Disadvantages: Lacking excitement for a younger crowd.
..."Welcome to the Hotel Santa Rita, such a lovely place, such a lovely face..."
So sing the restaurant staff to the tune of the Eagles hit "Hotel California." And indeed they are correct, even if their singing is atrocious.
The hotel complex itself is smaller than the average at 55 rooms, yet at no time does it feel claustrophobic or crammed in. In fact if anything this adds to its charm and friendly character. Situated in small well kept gardens within the complex that also contains the outdoor restaurant/bar, pool, Ayervedic clinic (for massage or traditional therapies) and a crepe restaurant.
The rooms are airy and clean. Ours contained a small kitchen area with a sink and fridge stocked with water, beer and soft drinks. A ceiling fan in each room and an air conditioner as well in the bedroom. There was also a small TV in...
