...Santa Luzia is the fishing village in Portugal that we stayed in at Easter. We flew from Luton to Faro picked up our rental car and drove the 25 k to Santa Luzia. Santa Luzia is near Tavira. Santa Luzia is only about 30k from the Spanish border. Santa Luzia is a quiet fishing village on the Ria Formosa, separated from the long sandy beach by a shallow lagoon that opens out to the Atlantic Ocean. Fishing boats and a ferry use this as a harbour. The long sandy beach called Barril beach is easily accessible by either foot, a 15 minute walk or by a small tourist train, (1 euro I think. cars are not allowed. This is a blue flag beech. . When we went at Easter the town and beach was very quiet. One day we walked onto the sand dunes behind the beach and then along the beach. santa luzia de tavira algarve

Advantages: heaven on earth
Disadvantages: none

...I have been visiting Santa Luzia for more than 5 years now and enjoy the village so much that in august of 2006 i purchased a small house in rua Joao antonio chagas ferriera. It is opposite the best little seafood restaurant in the algarve "Alcatruz". The fish in this place is so fresh it is still wriggling and the algarvean speciality of seafood and rice "arroz marisco" is unsurpassed in even the swankiest of restaurants. The new promenade is half comleted (june 2007) and is due to be finished in the coming winter. Everything you need can be found in the many little local shops and cafe de ville in the church square provides daily fresh baked bread. You will not find english breakfast, beer or even cigarettes in the village though you can obtain english newspapers from about 11am onwards at the kiosk on the front in season and from...

Why Do I Always get the dud room?

Advantages: Some lovely rooms, great location and verty reasonable price.
Disadvantages: Not all rooms as nice, noisy air-con.

...Plaza, meaning it is close to restaurants, bars, internet cafes and shops as well as the smaller, but pleasant Santa Lucia Plaza. The airport is just outside town, and takes about 15 minutes by taxi. The bus terminal is a five minute taxi ride away. We arrived late at night, so I didn?t really get the feel for the hotel until the morning, where it turned out to be a more attractive hotel than I realised. Most of the rooms assigned to my traveling companions overlooked a pretty little plant filled courtyard or the pool. My room overlooked a corridor! This, of course, hindered the natural light in the room as there was no other window other than a tiny one in the bathroom. The room was simply furnished with a tiled floor, solid beds (one single and one double) with wooden frames, a bedside table, desk, TV and some open shelves...

Hotel Miranda, Santa Ponsa

Advantages: nice location, necessary amenities
Disadvantages: noisy surroundings at times

...Hotel Miranda is a small quaint hotel. the staff are quite friendly, although not always on hand, the hotel can feel desolate at times. The swimming pool is lovely, although not heated so can be cold. The hotel has a nice bar, although quite expensive. Morning buffet breakfast is served with nice simple food which can be eaten on the beautiful terrace. The rooms are quite basic, but hold all the necessary amenities (eg shower, double bed etc. However, at night it can get quite noisy, especially with children staying in the hotel, and with the locals outside. The hotel is situated near to the santa ponsa's tourist and beach area, with all the amenities nearby. Santa's melted!

Advantages: smells gorgeous, a bit different, fun to use
Disadvantages: melts easily

...I first bought one of Lush's Strawberry Santa Shower Jellies last year. Out of all of the Christmas products, I think it was the one that immediately appealed to me. I love strawberry fragranced products, and I'm glad Lush have brought this out, as I've not been too keen on any of the Body Shop strawberry stuff, and a lot of the cheaper brands smell quite artificial. I know it's a little early to be talking about Christmas products, however I thought I'd write the review now, in case anyone is considering this for a present idea or just a treat for themselves! This was the first ever Lush shower jelly I used, and unfortunately it had leaked in the box, meaning I only had about half left, and the tub had become quite messy, so I wanted it used and out of the way! Being Santa

Advantages: Entertaining for adults and children
Disadvantages: Silly...but what do you expect?

...Scott Calvin works for a toy firm while struggling with his ex-wife for custody of his son, Charlie. When Charlie comes to spend Christmas with him, Scott is reluctant to join in with the Christmas spirit. Then on Christmas Eve he accidentally kills Santa by knocking him off the roof, and, by wearing Santa's clothes, immediately enters into a contract to replace him. "Welcome to the Hotel Santa Rita"

Advantages: Quiet, relaxed, small hotel with high standards, efficient friendly staff
Disadvantages: Lacking excitement for a younger crowd.

..."Welcome to the Hotel Santa Rita, such a lovely place, such a lovely face..." So sing the restaurant staff to the tune of the Eagles hit "Hotel California." And indeed they are correct, even if their singing is atrocious. The hotel complex itself is smaller than the average at 55 rooms, yet at no time does it feel claustrophobic or crammed in. In fact if anything this adds to its charm and friendly character. Situated in small well kept gardens within the complex that also contains the outdoor restaurant/bar, pool, Ayervedic clinic (for massage or traditional therapies) and a crepe restaurant. The rooms are airy and clean. Ours contained a small kitchen area with a sink and fridge stocked with water, beer and soft drinks. Santa-stic!

Advantages: Very funny, great cast, a Christmas film for adults!
Disadvantages: Not that Christmassy, rather crude in parts!

...I absolutely adore Christmas films, and my favourite ones are actually aimed at Children; The Santa Clause, Elf and Home Alone. I find the cuteness is perfect at this time of year, and there is nothing better than sitting in the dark on a winter's evening than watching one of those films. But the other evening, Channel 5 were showing a preview of an adult Christmas film, one I hadn't seen before called 'Bad Santa', and I was quite intrigued to see just how Christmassy this was going to be. So my other half and I settled down to watch, not quite expecting the brilliant film that was shown! Willie and Marcus have an unusual business going on. Every year, they get a job as Santa Claus and his elf in big department stores across the country.
