Canal d' Amour in Sidari

Advantages: great friendly locals, cheap to purchase things, etc
Disadvantages: a little bit of rain

...This year was the first time that I have been to Corfu and the third time I have been in Greece as I have only generally been to Spain of France. On this occasion, I decided that I needed a change of scenery to another island and went to Sidari in Corfu with once again Thomson Travel. I stayed in the Canal d’ Amour area of Sidari where there are little private beaches that fill up very fast. Talking to many people, this was found to be the nicest part of the island. I went this year on the 31st of August for a two-week holiday with my parents so I had the last week of high season and the first week of mid season. Between the two weeks of being there, there was a big difference with the amount of people. As I went during high season, the shops were not giving offers to encourage people to spend their money and the atmosphere...

Review of Sidari, Corfu

Brilliant Place, Brilliant People, some annoying points.

Advantages: Loads to do, great weather, lovely people, cheap
Disadvantages: hard to get around, constantly bothered by shop/bar owners.

...I went to Corfu 13th-21st July of this year (2009) with my girlfriend. We stayed at hotel Monika. Sidari is the second largest resort on the island of Corfu after Kavos. The transfer from the airport takes roughly 1.5-2 hours. It is a very beautiful place with places to just look out at the ocean or watch the sunset in the evenings but without all the trouble that comes with an 18-30 holiday destination. There are ample things to do in the day, with gorgeous weather you can just lay on one of the beaches or by the pool at your hotel and catch the sun. If you want more to do with your day, there are water sports, boats to rent, loads of shops, bars, restaurants and trips out. In the evenings you are spoilt for choice with where to eat and we only had one bad experience with our evening meals. Generally I have to say...

Review of Sidari, Corfu

Stinky, Busy and Very English.

Advantages: Scenery
Disadvantages: Beaches, Litter.

...and there was only one main street which was quite long but only took five minutes to walk down and then all hotels and apartments are located just off the main street down slip roads but I guess wherever you were staying you could walk to the main bit in two minutes. To get to Sidari was easy as Corfu actually only has a few main roads which are quite straight and one of these leads you straight into Sidari from almost anywhere on the island. Although Sidari is not pretty really at all you are only a five minute walk away from Canal D'amour which has much more impressive scenery. ----- Size: Although I have touched on this I think I must reiterate to you how small Sidari actually is as so many people had told me it was huge. There is one main strip of shops and then that is basically it. Seriously you could look in every shop in...

Sidari, Corfu - a great place to visit

Advantages: Great restaurants, pubs and beach
Disadvantages:

...If you?re looking for a great ?couple? holiday, then I can recommend Sidari in Corfu as a place where you?ll find loads to do and all that you need to have a brilliant holiday (provided you?ve got the right partner!). You?ll also find sun, sea and sand and a gorgeous beach where, if you?re feeling adventurous, you can try out some cool water sports. You?ll find good food in the restaurants in Sidari and, in my favourite, the ?3 Little Pigs?, you also get entertained with Greek dancing as you eat your meal. There is a real friendly atmosphere in the bars and for the lads and girls who can?t do without their football, you?ll find that many of the pubs will have the big English football matches on the TV. There are a few nightclubs in the town centre and plenty of shops and small tourist shops which offer trips to places such as ?Corfu...

Go it alone - fantastic!!!!!

Advantages: Do what you want to, when you want to......
Disadvantages: Strange at first

...outside with large placards waiting to greet you and tell you where your coach is. I must point out here that the Corfu scenery is beautiful: rugged coastline, beautiful beaches and thousands of olive trees. Depending on where you are going, the transfer can take from 20 minutes to a couple of hours but I didn't mind, as the excitement has already kicked in. Upon arrival at the resort, I was shown to my room by the rep. I was given a leaflet about the welcome meeting later that night (sometimes next day, depending on your time of arrival) at a nearby hotel. It was at this meeting that I realised I was the only lone tourist there. This didn't matter, as everyone else was very friendly and the rep ensured I wasn't alone for long, including me in all the activities going on around the resort. Everyone seems to be very friendly towards a lone...

Corel Hotel, Roda Corfu

Advantages: Cheap, good atmosphere
Disadvantages: Old and in need of a tidy up

...Coral Hotel, Roda Corfu INTRO Not knowing where to go for hols this year we decided to convert our Tesco vouchers and go for a free holiday. The one place that always seemed to come up was the Corel Hotel in Corfu. All the pictures and info on the net pointed to a good family run hotel in a nice area of Corfu. LOCATION The hotel is situated on the outskirts of RODA which itself is about an hour and a half from Corfu Town and the airport. The hotel itself is literally a small stones throw from the beach. Alas that's a pebble beach but its still right on the sea. When we arrived I was pleasantly surprised at the location. There's about a 10 mile stretch of water between Corfu and the mountains of Albania. Stick all of this together and you have nothing short of a fantastic location. THE HOTEL The hotel is divided up in to...

Jason Hotel, Corfu

Advantages: quiet, private and safe
Disadvantages: The steep hill up to it

...bar very good, did a few meals! basic but filled a gap, the breakfast typical continental!! ham, peaches, bread and cereal, all ok, plenty of coffee and tea, and a lot of wasps!! we had a good veiw across the sea to corfu town, the worst bit was the HILL!!! very steep down the first 100 yards!! then a pleasent walk 5 mins to ipsos main road where there is a plentyful supply of places to eat, not the hustle and bustle of most towns but good enough!! now back to the room! basic! bathroom no bath! shower that wet everywhere! toilet that had an odur, had to keep flushing it!! telly, i think we all take thing for granted, Hotel Jason did the job, but there is a big hill up to it!! very private, 95% clean, very freindly staff, not many English guests, a large amount of Eastern europeans, but ok!! wouldn't go back as we don't do things twice! to...

Telemachos Hotel, Dassia, Corfu

Advantages: Quiet ( usually!)
Disadvantages: Some people may find the (small)hills a chore/problem

...I am beginning to think we went to a different hotel to the one being reviewed here! To follow the previous review - 1. We arrived at half 3 in the morning - were met by an abrupt night manager, but wouldn't you be at half 3 in the morning, having to deal with weary English toursists not speaking a work of Greek? 2.The room - clean, basic, tidy. We were in the old part of the building, but I thought it was the new part until I realised we had no Air Con. HOWEVER, wasn't needed - the nights were getting chilly. We were only supplied with one pillow each, but we asked for extra the next morning and my tea time we had been given another one each. 3. Breakfast - we went down for 9am to be served with some unusal choices, but adequate and plentiful. What's everyone moaning about? What do you have at home???? Compare and contrast! 4...

Kalami- Corfu

Advantages: Amazing, relazing, beautiful.
Disadvantages: Some parts are very chavvy and "english"

...there is pretty much no nightlife, no clubs in sight, you will have to go to Sidari and the likes for that, but that means the place is so quite and peaceful. And there are places to drink, there is a hotel which we called the "pink palace" no idea of the real name, which has a nice big bar and plays some music at night, so if you just want light nightlife, thats an option, but also all of the tavernas are open until late, and will pretty much continue to serve until your ready to leave. And most of the tavernas have special nights when you pay a set price for a "show", which tends to be Greek dancing, and a meal and drink. Which is great fun!!! Corfu is a beautiful place, or parts of it are, but you do have to research where your going, if you like nightlife, and english food and english bars and pubs, then choose somwhere like Sidari. If...

Marbella Corfu Hotel

Advantages: Can get a good price on good quality
Disadvantages: probably not a five star hotel

...I would suggest that if you need a quick dash to somewhere hot then you could do far worse than Marbella Hotel Corfu. Marbella proudly displays five stars at the end of the drive way, and whilst the rooms and facilities are good I would suggest five stars is a little generous. It is really the rooms which let the place down as they are similar in feel to a good Travel Lodge albeit with air conditioning. We opted for half board which seemed to work out well as there is plenty of food for all tastes - it's buffet style so a large serving area displays the dishes, and guests help themselves to whatever they want. There are lots to choose from, and I'm pleased to say that all of it is good. If you worry about noise at night from clubs / drunk folk having a laugh, then you don't need to worry about it here as the place is very tranquil...
