With its breathtaking coastlines, cliff-hugging villas and designer boutiques, the Neapolitan Riviera is one of the most glamorous locations in Europe, let alone all of Italia. Cosmopolitan Sorrento, its main resort, is a stylish base to explore the iconic sights of Pompeii, Vesuvius, Naples and the offshore island of Capri. Taking its name from the ancient walls of Sorrento, the elegant Hotel Antiche Mura is a 19th century Belle Epoque style villa imbued with all the Neapolitan charm you could desire. A back-to-back winner of TripAdvisor Travellers Choice Awards in 2012 and 2013, Hotel Antiche Mura is a palatial gem - just off the main Piazza Tasso square - with chic rooms and a turquoise pool tucked amongst its sun-dappled terraces and citrus grove.

It is the tale of the three Moynihan sisters, Hilary, a widow who lives in the family "hotel" with their father and her teenage son; Pippa, who lives in New York; and Meg, who lives in London. After a long absence, the three gather in their familial home in Sorrento, a coastal town near Melbourne, for their father's funeral. Many of the town's most prominent citizens are terribly impressed that Meg has just published an award-winning book that is actually a thinly veiled vicious attack on the town, its people, and her family. It is not a happy reunion, as old hurts and rivalries amongst the sisters immediately begin resurfacing. Hotels and camp sites abound in Sorrento and there is something for every budget. We stayed in a hotel just outside of the main town in Sant Agnello (see review Hotel Grand Parco del Sole) One point to consider when booking a hotel is the traffic noise in and around the centre of Sorrento particularly at night when everyone...

...guardaround the pool. Overall i would reccomend this hotel as a great destination for if staying in Sorrento. It is 1/2 mile from the main strip which is good, as you feel in the town, but not too noisy. Excellent, and will be booking again next year...
Advantages: Close to some good shops, a good metro station and not far from the Eiffel Tower. Disadvantages: Tiny room, paper thin walls (and I MEAN paper thin) and quite tired rooms.
...* hotel as it was in a good location and it looked nice enough on the pictures, it wasn't badly priced too compared to similar hotels in Paris.
The Hotel's Location
Europe Hotel is in an ideal location on a busy street. It's situated only a 10-15 minute walk away from the Effiel Tower, which was amusing on our first day as we stood with a map wondering where the busy street we were standing in...
