WEYMOUTH HOTEL

Advantages: None
Disadvantages: Single rooms very small, Inadequate facilities

...Arrived as alone traveller, opting for the Crown Hotel at Weymouth due to its apparent convenience to the followings days meeting at Portland. The receptionist was extremely helpful and explained the lack of parking at the hotel, suggesting the secure garage option - parking available at the rear of the hotel. Very well priced at £2.50. Regretfully that is where the pleasant experience ended as the room offered was very small and was located above the Weymouth town centre main road. Tea/ coffee making equipment were sparse, room floor creaked with every step that was taken, plus the TV did not work. Explained this to the receptionist, but she explained that no rooms were available due to the fact that they had their 'Turkey and Tinsel' night (22 Nov 2007 !!). TV remained unfixed (I had sufficient work to progress with), despite my...

Weymouth Premier Inn

Advantages: handy for ferry, beach, town, County Park
Disadvantages: none

...This Premier Travel Inn is at Lodmoor Country Park in Weymouth, and very convenient for the Sea Life Centre, the town/beach and the ferry. We were catching a ferry from Weymouth in Dorset to Jersey at 7am on the Sunday morning. We only live a 2.5 hour drive away, but didnt want to leave anything to chance and also being pregnant, wanted to make life as easy as possible! So we booked into the Premier Travel Inn at Weymouth. It is on the A353 and was 2 miles from the ferry. We decided to visit the Sea Life centre as we had a free entry voucher from Tesco. I was still shocked at the price though as it cost £13.95 for 1 adult to get in. The centre was ok but I have seen better! Lodmoor Country Park is quite good, there was a big slide and mini go carts for the kids, and you can park and visit all of the attractions...

Weymouth Camping

Advantages: Nice beach, friendly, lots of things to do
Disadvantages: Traffic congestion in the summer & Car Park rip off prices

...I have stayed at Weymouth for the last 3 summers and love the place, it is full of friendly people and there is loads to do. The annual Beach Volleyball Classic is superb and runs for three days over the summer at the beginning of August. I was amazed last year when I got one of the Volleyball programmes to see a picture of myself and brother and sister on the front cover! This review is all about camping, I will include a few places to visit in and around Weymouth. Here are the sites I have stayed on, I have rated them in terms of my experiences: - LITTLE SEA HAVEN HOLIDAYS SITE This is a five star site and is popular for families with all the usual Haven facilities. There is an outdoor and indoor swimming pool, Nightclub with entertainment, Amusements, shop, takeaway, laundrette and outdoor play area plus caged football arena...

Weymouth: A Pleasant Resort

Advantages: Nice mix of old and new. Nice harbour, good shopping
Disadvantages: Can get crowded at height of the season

...area,on the other hand, are sophisticated bistros and fine restaurants, which although more expensive,do serve good cuisine. If you enjoy ethnic cuisine you will not be disappointed for a town of its size,Weymouth has a lot of Indian,Chinese and Continental eateries.Shopping in town is good-the shopping centre is partially pedestrianised and its also fairly compact. There is a good range of shops and price wise Weymouth seems to be reasonably cheap. From London there is a good train service and there are also coach services as well, these are markedly cheaper. Accommodation is plentiful, ranging from several elegant hotels, medium priced guest houses to an enormous number of homely bed and breakfast places....

Review of Weymouth (England)

Awful

Advantages: Nr beach
Disadvantages: where shall i start

...Tthe hotel itself was ok! However the way it was run was awful! We booked 5 rooms had a pleasant check in but we had to pay on arrival which we found strange and wish we had not done this, as on the first night a couple of friends could not get in to thier room and the porters eventually had to break the door down!! They finally got in at 4.30am, 2 hours later. To top it off the cleaners walked straight in at 7.55am with no notice at all. The next morning we spoke to reception about this and got the response "what do you want me to do about this" - a shocking response, so we requested to speak to the manager. When we did, we sat down with him and he said it wasnt their fault, these things happen and only about once a year. They said they couldnt offer another room or refund or anything infact not even a soft drink, as it was...

Weymouth is Pleasant Enough

Advantages: Nice architecture. Old Weymouth is attractive
Disadvantages: Gets very busy

...Weymouth in Dorset is a popular resort on the South Coast of England and attracts a lot of holidaymakers from London and the Midlands. There is a good rail service from London Waterloo which terminates at Weymouth and there are also coach services to the resort from the major UK cities. It is a thoroughly pleasant town with a good array of attractions to suit a wide variety of tastes. On my last trip their in September 1999 I had glorious weather and thoroughly enjoyed my two day stay. The promenade is very pleasant and there are a lot of distinguished Georgian style properties including several seafront hotels and a large number of guest houses and bed and breakfast places. Holiday camp accommodation is also available. The eating scene is good. On and near the seafront are a number of traditional English eateries including...

Weymouth Sealife Centre - Tranquil Day Out

Advantages: Relaxing, nicely located, fun, educational
Disadvantages: a bit pricey unless you book online

...I can really recommend a day out at Weymouth Sealife Centre, because I felt that it was a fun, educational, and a tranquil family day out, and thought the place was worthy of a really good review on CIAO. Tranquility is something which is rare to find on many family days out, which is why I also thought Weymouth Sea Life Centre deserved a special mention. If you combine visiting this attraction with a good cheap nights rest at the Premier Inn ((http://www.premierinn.co.uk/). the night before, and then a leisurly breakfast at the Brewers Fayre (Lodmor Inn nextdoor to Premier Inn and two minutes walk from Sea Life Centre), you should hopefully be in the right frame of mind for getting the best from this attraction. All the walking between the Travel Lodge, the Lodmoor Inn, and around the Sea Life centre was on the flat and I...

Premier Travel Inn at Weymouth - Cleverly located

Advantages: Clean and Tidy
Disadvantages: None

...I can really recommend the Premier Travel Inn at Weymouth, simply for the reason that it is situated less than 2 minutes walk to the Weymouth Sealife Centre, and also less than a minutes walk from Lodmoor Inn (Brewers Fayre), which the Premier Inn have an all in eat as much as you like breakfast deal arrangement with the Lodmoor Inn, kids eat free if adults pay £7.50 each for all in breakfast. If you stay over night and ask nicely they might let you use the free parking the following day so that you don't have to pay at the Weymouth Sealife Centre (should you intend to visit there). Some key points made in other reviews, which I agree with. It is very convenient for the Sea Life Centre, the town, the beach and the ferry. Booking is really easy to do online, and if you book online you only pay for the room upon arrival (see...

Getting Around in Weymouth..

Advantages: Plenty of options during the day
Disadvantages: expensive taxi's only after midnight

...Nice imaginitive title don't you think? I thought I'd write a summary of the pro's and con's of travelling around Weymouth once you get there as there seems to be nothing detailed on it so far! Brief description of Weymouth: Weymouth is a coastal town in South West England famed for it's long, beautiful beach. Also there are many holiday parks (don't like to be called 'camps' any more!) and as such it is an ideal, relatively cheap, family holiday location. The main town itself consists of many Georgian town house hotels along the seafront, a massive harbour, and of course, there are the usual arcades, cafe's and souvenir shops. There is a pretty impressive selection of shops along the main streets such as Marks & Spencer, Debenhams, & Burton plus many small independant shops. Back to the main review... Getting TO...

Review of Getting Around in Weymouth

The Strand Palace Hotel

Advantages: Central location, clean
Disadvantages: Food, rooms

...We stayed at this hotel in London a little over a month ago now for two nights, we chose this hotel mainly because of the central location and because it was only a ten minuite walk from the show we had booked to go too. Check in was very quick - About ten minuites and the staff at the reception seemed very friendly. My first thoughts on the hotel was that it looked really clean and that it was nicely decorated and it looked modern. I was a little dissapointed with our room as it was very small and basic, our room had a double bed, tea and coffee making facilities, a tv with satellite and a small, basic en suite bathroom with a shower. The views from our room very very poor - A block of offices which made our room dark as they were so close. The hotel has two bars and two resturaunts, the bars were again nicely decorated...
