...The Felbridge Hotel, East Grinstead, Sussex - 'four star luxury grade' - changed hands this year and has been completely refurbished to a very high standard in a contemporary style - all chocolate, beige and cream. Maybe not to everyone's taste - not very cosy and perhaps lacking a bit of character - but I loved it. Everything clean, shiny and brand spanking new. It is situated next to a main road but this didn't really detract from the hotel and we didn't notice any noise. The road is quite hard to cross on foot and it isn't easy to turn right against the flow of traffic - although we managed ok. I booked for a weekend break in August, staying with my other half, on a special deal of £110 for executive double room including full English breakfast. The Felbridge Hotel & Spa Hotel

Advantages: Stunning decor, exceptional food, polite, friendly staff

...Situated in East Grinstead, West Sussex this hotel is counted as a Gatwick Airport Hotel. Compared to all the other Gatwick hotels and all other hotels I have stayed in, this has to be one of the best. The hotel has recently been taken over in the last year and gone through a 5 million pound refurbishment taking the hotel and spa to 4* Deluxe Status from its previous 2* rating. I did not visit the hotel when it was previously owned so cannot compare. I drive past this hotel every day and it always catches my eye, it looks really nice. I first went into the hotel to take a look at the spa. ...the buffet as many times as you like. However, it can be difficult to get served tea/coffee. Quite a few times I've had to go without because I've been running late and not able to get a responsive member of staff to serve me. The hotel markets itself as being a spa and corporate events hotel and also makes a lot of the fact that it is located very close to Silverstone race course. I sometimes feel that there's a bit of a contradiction between being a spa and a corporate events hotel. I remember being at the hotel on Valentine's Day a couple of years ago while on a course and there were lots of couples who were staying there on one of their spa deals - most of the couples weren't particularly appreciative of the fact that they were sharing their fine dining experience with several tables of rowdy twenty somethings taking advantage of the free...

...I stayed in the Sussex hotel over Easter and had a great time. The hotel is located about 1 minute from Marble Arch underground station and one block past Selfridges, so if you like to shop this hotel is ideally located for you. It's quite an impressive building from the outside and although the entrance looks pretty none discript, when you walk into reception it turns out to a lovely modern hotel. I was greeted by a very friendly and competent Receptionist, who gave me all the info I needed and checked me into my room with no hassles at all. ...My wife and I booked a week through Spa Travel advertised in a Marks & Spencer catalogue; we met in Malta 40 years ago while I was serving with the RAF on the Island. The week's all inclusive stay in the Fortina Spa Resort (5* opened in 2006) and included Club Class return travel with either BA or Air Malta, with Malta transfers and a 2 hour harbour cruise, at a cost of £900 each. Air Malta (Heathrow Terminal 4) provided an outstanding service on both outbound and return sectors - far better than BA! We booked a superior harbour view room and were allocated one on the tower's 4th floor facing Pieta and Marsamxett harbours facing South West with fantastic views of North facing Valetta and sunsets over Rabat. ...On the 26th February I spent all day being pampered and relaxing at the Donnington Valley Hotel & Spa based in Newbury. Accessible from the A34 or M4 in the "outback" of Newbury, near Donnington Castle, the newly redeveloped 4 stars hotel and spa is a perfect place to forget your worries and relax. Even though you can book with the hotel directly for their spa packages/treatments my day was booked via Spa Breaks.com in January as they were offering a 20% off any spa day if booked before March. We always seem to decide to go away at the last minute so leave ourselves very little to choice in where to go as most places are booked up. However we have since come across a good booking website that seems to be able to get us availability last minute where ever we want. On this occasion we didn?t want to venture far so read up on health spas in the West Midlands for a change.
